About this property
Designer Family Cabin Mins to Dollywood: Kids Retreat + Game Loft + Hot Tub
THE WILD HUCKLEBERRY
The Wild Huckleberry is currently being thoughtfully reimagined into a warm, design-forward Smoky Mountain cabin created for families. The photos you see today show the home’s existing architecture and layout while the remodel is underway; the finished interiors, furnishings and custom kids spaces described below will be complete before our first Wild Huckleberry guests arrive.
Close enough to hear the Dollywood train whistle, yet tucked into a peaceful wooded setting, The Wild Huckleberry sleeps 8 across three bedrooms and was created to feel less like a themed vacation rental and more like the family mountain house you wish you had.
Spend the day at Dollywood, explore Pigeon Forge or head into the Great Smoky Mountains, then come home for hot-tub soaks, fireside evenings, arcade competitions, slow breakfasts and time together.
WHY YOU’LL LOVE THE WILD HUCKLEBERRY
★ So close to Dollywood you can hear the train whistle from the cabin ★ Sleeps 8 in 3 bedrooms - king, queen + 4 twin sleeping spaces ★ Built-in kids room sleeping four with 3 twin beds + twin trundle ★ Separate game loft with arcade, foosball, art space + reading nook ★ Private hot tub in a peaceful, secluded wooded setting ★ Stone fireplace + soaring great room with cathedral ceiling and wall of windows ★ Warm, professionally designed interiors with natural wood, layered textiles and collected mountain character ★ Full kitchen + cozy breakfast nook ★ 2 full bathrooms ★ Large deck, washer + dryer and paved driveway ★ Easy access to Dollywood, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, Gatlinburg and the Smokies
CLOSE TO THE FUN. TUCKED INTO THE WOODS.
One of the best things about The Wild Huckleberry is its location.
We’re close enough to Dollywood that you’ll hear the unmistakable whistle of the Dollywood Express from the cabin.
That kind of convenience matters with kids. Head out for rides in the morning, come home for lunch, naps or a little downtime, then head back out if everyone still has energy.
And when you’re home, you’re not looking out at the Parkway.
The cabin sits in a wooded setting that feels peaceful and tucked away while keeping you remarkably close to the attractions.
Close to the fun. Quiet enough to exhale.
A KIDS ROOM MADE FOR THEM
One of our favorite parts of The Wild Huckleberry is the kids room.
We didn’t want it to feel like a room where we simply squeezed in as many beds as possible. We wanted the kids to have a space that felt like it belonged to them.
The Huckleberry Kids Room sleeps four with:
3 built-in twin beds + 1 pull-out twin trundle
The room will include reading lights, book ledges, cozy bedding and playful details designed to make each sleeping space feel like its own little hideaway. With a TV all their own, movie nights take on a whole new life.
Think cousins whispering after bedtime, siblings choosing “their” bed the moment they arrive, and the kind of mountain sleepover that becomes part of the trip itself.
AND THEY GET THEIR OWN LOFT
The kids room isn’t the game room. They get both.
Upstairs, the loft gives them another place to hang out with:
- Multi-game arcade - Foosball - Kids art space - Reading nook - Room to play and lounge
They can game, draw, read or play foosball while the grown-ups enjoy the quieter spaces downstairs.
Everyone gets to be together. Everyone also gets somewhere to go.
A MOUNTAIN CABIN THE GROWN-UPS LOVE, TOO
The heart of The Wild Huckleberry is the great room.
A stone fireplace anchors the space beneath a cathedral ceiling, while a wall of windows brings natural light into the cabin.
The remodel brings in natural pine, creamy neutrals, rich greens, vintage-inspired textiles and collected details designed to feel like a true mountain home rather than a themed rental.
Curl up by the fire after a long day. Settle in for a movie. Bring out the board games.
Or let the kids disappear upstairs while you actually finish your coffee.
KITCHEN + BREAKFAST NOOK + LARGE ISLAND WITH SEATING
The kitchen is being refreshed with family stays in mind, from pancake mornings before Dollywood and trail snacks to easy dinners at home.
Just beyond it, the breakfast nook is one of those little spaces we hope becomes part of the memory of staying here: morning coffee, cereal with sleepy kids, card games after dinner and slow mornings when no one needs to rush.
No one needs to sleep in the living room. That’s intentional.
TWO FULL BATHROOMS
The cabin has two full bathrooms. We’re keeping their existing layouts and giving both thoughtful cosmetic updates with refreshed lighting, mirrors, trim and styling.
Comfortable, functional and made to work well for a family stay.
HOT TUB + FIRE PIT + OUTDOOR TIME
After Dollywood, a day in Pigeon Forge or an afternoon exploring the Smokies, come home and sink into the private hot tub surrounded by the wooded setting. Unwind while you roast some s'mores around the campfire together, curled up in blankets in wooden adirondack chairs while you swap stories of the day and build memories.
The large deck gives you space for morning coffee, fresh mountain air and a quieter end to the day.
MADE FOR FAMILIES
The Wild Huckleberry is more than “family friendly.”
We’re designing it around the way families actually travel:
big adventure days, tired kids, easy meals, a little noise, a little quiet, time together and a little room apart.
You’ll find beds made specifically for the kids, a loft where they can play, a place to make art, books to curl up with, games to challenge each other to...and spaces where the adults can relax too.
The Wild Huckleberry is our own family mountain home, and we hope it feels that way when you’re here.
ABOUT THE CURRENT PHOTOS
Because we’re accepting reservations while the transformation is underway, we want to be completely transparent.
The current photography shows the home’s actual architecture, layout and outdoor spaces. Before our first Wild Huckleberry guests arrive, the interiors will be refreshed with new paint, lighting, furnishings, textiles and styling, including the built-in kids room described above.
The bathrooms are receiving cosmetic updates only; their layouts remain unchanged. The existing deck, hot tub and fire pit remain part of the property.
New professional photography will be added as soon as the transformation is complete.
You’re seeing the bones today. You’ll be staying in the finished Wild Huckleberry.
WELCOME TO THE WILD HUCKLEBERRY
Come because Dollywood is practically in your backyard.
Come because the kids are going to race upstairs to choose their beds.
Come because they have an intentional loft waiting for them.
Come because there’s a hot tub and fire pit at the end of a long park day.
Come for the quiet coffee in a rocking chair on the front deck surrounded by nature and birdsong.
And come because you want the place you stay to feel like part of the vacation.
The Wild Huckleberry is a family mountain home made for big Smoky Mountain days, cozy nights in and the kind of memories you’ll want to come back to.

Absolutely beautiful cabin surrounded by trees! We loved our stay and hope to return again soon! The cabin was clean, cozy and the beds were comfy. We made use of both the fire pit and the hot tub. The host was extremely communicative and helpful. We loved it so much we ended up extending our stay! We highly recommend staying here. Conveniently close to most everything the Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains.
We loved our time at Sunset Bear Hideaway. The cabin was very clean and well equipped. Jen was great at communicating before arrival and checking in while we were in town. Our kids loved the game room area. We loved everything there was to do in the Smokies and hope to come back again.
Great location! We were in the woods, but not too far away from everything. We even got to see a bear towards the end of the week. Jen was very helpful & quick to reply, if we had a question. Cabin was spacious & had everything we needed. We would stay here again!
This was our 2nd time staying and love it! Very spacious and clean. Conveniently located to enjoy the peacefulness of the mountains but can enjoy the city within a few minutes! Owner is great and easy to contact!
This was a great getaway for my kids and I! The cabin decorated for Christmas made it all the better! The cabin was extremely clean and cozy! The owner was easy to contact and helped with any questions we had before going and while there. I would definitely recommend and look forward to staying again!
We had a wonderful stay! Location is great! Such a comfortable cabin! Location, hot tub, fire pit, grill, communication, comfortable beds all were perfect for our family’s vacation! Thank you!!
Place was amazing. Very beautiful inside and out and ton of room for a large family. Place was secluded but close enough to everything. You could even hear the train from Dollywood while enjoying the rocking chairs on the porch. Owner was great to work with. Definitely will be coming back when we return to the area.
We enjoyed our long weekend stay over Thanksgiving. The host was quick to respond and was nice enough to remove the fragrance plug-ins before we arrived (sensitivity). The cabin is in a great location and met all of our needs. We had a great trip!
The property was an excellent choice for our family vacation to Dollywood! The house is equipt with plenty of games and great views to keep you busy during your stay! Jennifer (host) was readily available for any questions/concerns during our stay. We look forward to our next family vacation at Sunset Bear Hideaway :)
We had an amazing time on our mini vacation. The cabin was beautiful and very cozy. Being wheelchair accessible was very important for my mother and the accommodations made this very easy for us to help her with her needs. The hot tub was very nice. We loved the location so conveniently located to all the major attractions and restaurants. We highly recommend this location to families looking to get away and truly relax.
The property was clean and in a good location. Was far enough from town that you didn't have to mess with trafic but close enough it didn't take but a few minutes to get there. I would highly recomend this property.
Look no further - this is the one you want to book!!
This is our 2nd time staying at this property & will forever be our go to spot for staying in the Smokey Mtns. Exceptionally clean with ALL the amenities! If you are looking for the perfect place to stay, I promise you this one will not disappoint! Don't hesitate & book now! You will have the best experience ever!
There really are not enough positive descriptive words I can use to describe our stay at Sunset Bear Hideaway. It felt just like home. Had everything we needed and was so nice we added an extra night because we didn’t want to go home yet. Our host was wonderful and so easy to deal with on anything. Our family included 3 adults and 3 teenagers, and we all were comfortable. We will very likely stay again.
Love…love…love…this place!!! Easy check-in, everything you need…just bring the groceries and yourself!!! The kids loved it, me and my boyfriend loved it, we will definitely be back. Host was very responsive when I contacted her. Loved everything about our experience!!! Highly recommend!!!
Far enough away from the hustle like heavy traffic and gobs of tourists but has easy access to shopping, attractions, necessities etc. My husband and I will definitely rebook for the winter. Our stay was very nice and enjoyable. The inside had a beautiful decor.
The property was immaculate inside and out. I truly appreciated the thoughtfulness of provisions like games, arcade, etc. Great communication and great pricing too.
The cabin was perfect for our family of 5.
The location is great to get to all of the many activities. Only warning I would give, if you are from a flat area Houston,Tx) the street to the house is a bit of steep drive up hill. We are not use to that climb. The host was very accessible. The area is very quiet and safe.
Fabulous stay at the Sunset Bear Hideaway! Host Jen was helpful, sweet, and quick to respond to messages as well as proactive in sending information about the rental. Decor was beautiful and already up for Christmas! Felt like home away from home.A great place for our teens to spread out and have space. Close to everything but far enough to feel like you are truly on vacation. The hot tub was a nice touch as well.Love the shower in the master bathroom, nice and roomy! Bed was comfortable and the curtains kept out the light so sleeping in was easy! Ceiling fan and plenty of light in the master.Upstairs is a queen bedroom with an A-frame ceiling, so if you are tall, be aware of that, but it really wasn't an issue. No ceiling fan, but a standing fan was provided. Plenty of games and a lovely book nook brought you to the twin bedroom with another standing fan. Just note there is not a door, but it is tucked away so it feels like a bedroom. All in all a very comfortable, lovely rental with plenty to do!
This was the perfect place for our family's needs. We decided on this one after viewing SO MANY different options. With a child under 2, another one over 10 & the two of us, we wanted something cozy, yet providing us all with a private space. It wasnt too big, it wasnt too small - it was just right. The hot tub & firepit area being right off the main floor bedroom allowed my husband & me the opportunity to relax once the kids were in bed without creating too much noise with doors opening & closing. It was a flawless decision. We will abaolutely be back!
My wife and I met up with our long-time close friends for a weekend of fellowship & beauty at this terrific wooded get-away. It feels almost completely secluded, nestled in the woods, yet is only a tiny drive to the main roads in Pigeon Forge. We love the huge, plush sofas in the comfortable living room, sitting on the porch in the mornings and enjoying the spacious and immaculately clean hot tub. Everything was perfectly clean; even the closets. The mattresses are plush and comfortable. There was plenty of hot water, and good internet access. We found all the kitchen amenities that we needed - even an air fryer! Jennifer is the best host you could ask for. Absolutely no complaints.
P.S. If you want a great restaurant in Pigeon Forge, I recommend the "Local Goat".
Very nice, quiet, clean location. My family of 6 stayed at the Sunset Bear Hideawsy in June of 2024. Enjoyed the stay. The only issues were that both bathrooms were downstairs from the upstairs loft. My wifes parents stayed in the bottom bedroom. My mother'n-law has a bad hip and couldnt manage the stairs which is fine. My wife and I ,as well as my 2 boys, ages 21 & 19 , stayed upstairs. I have a bad knee so the stairs were unfriendly. We didnt know both bathrooms were on the first floor. Also, the loft is not good for tall people. I am 6-4, my younger son is 6-3. We were constantly hitting our heads on the V shaped ceiling. Also I banged my head on the light hanging down from the ceiling over the kitchen sink several times. Finally, the mirrors in the home were set for someone about 5-6 inches tall. No other issues. We enjoyed our stay.
