Great adventure and memories!
In searching for a weekend getaway with a “pool” to take our 3 & 4 year old boys, I was fortunate enough to come across Sunhillow!! It had the perfect natural pool and much more! Thanks to “Mr. Builder” who got his new nickname from our 3 year old and Mrs Karen, our boys were able to observe the best course in nature up close and personal. The deer are beautiful and to be able to hand feed one was amazing. The fawns are so cute. To top things off, Mrs Karen included the boys in helping her put out the feed for the deer! There were many “firsts” for them, the deer, a bat, a leatherback turtle at the beach, playing fetch with Charlie, sleeping in a log “cabinet” and so much more. The log cabin is beautiful, comfortable and cozy and has everything you need- we especially enjoyed the country eggs that were provided for breakfast! We were 3 generations- we brought grandparents with us and they enjoyed it just as much as we did. We had plenty of room to relax and cool off both inside and out. The boat and canoes were a great bonus and the golf cart also a nice addition to make it to the beach and enjoy the beauty of the property. Can’t say enough good things about this trip but our boys will talk about it for a long time! Thank you Karen and Bill for being such great hosts, including our boys in the experience of your day to day lives to maintain that wonderful farm and helping us make wonderful childhood memories for our boys! Comfortable, peaceful, wonderful!
Can’t even describe how wonderful our stay was. The house was very comfortable and clean. Property offered great walks, deer, fishing, swimming and best of all peace and quiet. Nice and close to NOLA , but still far enough away from everything. Bill and Karen were the best hosts. They know the area and we’re able to give great recommendations for what to do and eat. We appreciate how they allowed our kids to come with and help feed the deer. Not to mention how they helped with any concerns, the delicious wine, AMAZING blueberry crostatas, and a wonderful boat ride. Highly recommend this property and wish we could have stayed for a lot longer than 6 nights.

Perfect little getaway
When looking for a place to getaway from the stresses of life while still keeping 2 little boys occupied, this cabin in the woods stuck out among the listings. I quickly booked and it did not disappoint. The cabin was clean and homey. The property was beautiful. Our only complaint was that we didn’t book for more than a couple of nights. Getting to see and feed the deer each day was so fun. Picking fresh blueberries to add into our pancake batter the first morning was delicious and a great memory in the making. My husband and dad caught several fish while out in the canoe and standing off shore. My mom and I had a great time swimming at the beach with my little boys. No one was bored and everyone was relaxed. My advice for future visitors is to bring good bug spray and comfortable shoes not just to hike the trails with, but also for walking to the swimming beach as it is a bit of a walk. But seriously, we had an amazing time and truly hope to return in the future. Thank you to Bill and Karen for your hospitality and for sharing your farm with us!

Beautiful "Nature" Getaway
Sunhillow is the perfect "All Natural" destination for everyone! Couples, families, friends can all enjoy multiple year-round activities in a secluded and peaceful setting surrounded by limitless beauty. Karen and Bill are an integral part of this entire one-of-a-kind experience. They're lovely people dedicated to making your stay the most enjoyable first-class getaway imaginable. We enjoyed visiting with them as much as viewing the beautiful surroundings! The cabin is a fully functional, modern home with high-quality furnishings and multiple large windows, filled with natural sunlight looking out to the surrounding woods and an on-site Blueberry orchard. With its many top amenities and its gracious owners, you'll want to return to and enjoy Sunhillow during Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter!

Our stay
What a beautiful experience, the environment is so peaceful! The deer, the blueberries, and canoeing to the beach was all wonderful! The country sausage was the best we've ever tasted. From the above tells you all you need to know about our hosts, Bill and Karen.
