Inspired by a view of the Sea

A writer's paradise, this home has had more best selling books written within its walls than any home on the Mendocino Coast line. An inspiration to authors (and anyone else looking for inspiration), the energy at 247 Solstice in Sea Ranch is tranquil and still–making it the perfect romantic get away, writer's retreat from the world, or a special family vacation. Decorated with the ocean in mind, the house is elegant and comfortable all at once. Three bedrooms (one set up for kids with two sets of bunk beds sleeping 4), one queen guest room, and one California King, this 2500 square foot home is perfect for one to two couples and four kids. There is also a comfortable day-bed in the living room that can sleep an additional guest.

With chairs and sitting areas to fall back into in every corner, the home is the ideal respite to grab a book and disappear into its pages. A perfect setting to enjoy all of the amenities of coastal living at its best, a short walk from a sauna and heated pool plus tennis courts. The private sea ranch foot path is just off the deck, and stretches for about 13 miles up and down one of the most gorgeous cliff-side coastlines in the world. Walk-on beach is a mere ten minute trek, but there's no need to go further than the front room for full enjoyment of a spectacular view to watch the whales go by from the couch. Additional guest fee for more than 2 persons will be $50.00 per night per guest.

Outstanding ocean views

We really enjoyed our stay here especially the deck and the ocean views. Sea Ranch is a very special place. Don’t miss the seal beach and long walks on the bluff trail. Also Trinks, Anabel’s clothing consignment and Salvarae in Gualala and dinner at the Sea Ranch Lodge.

Beautiful Coast

Beautiful property

Kristin’s place was amazing. Extremely clean and steps from the Pacific Ocean. We also enjoyed the amenities of sea ranch (going to the pool everyday, private parking). I would highly recommend this property for families. You can have a relaxing day at the beach or pool, or go for a hike and see wildlife. Carole was a great host

idyllic oceanfront setting

wonderful location a few steps from the bluff trail, great deck with fabulous ocean views. very comfortable, well appointed home -- lots of great spots to curl up with a book, including window nooks with sweeping ocean and coastal views -- and well-stocked kitchen. Stunning Views, Peaceful Home

The location of this welcoming home has direct access to the Coastal Trail and stunning views of the ocean. The property is ideally situated: views, easy access to recreational facilities, a golf course and the coastal path. The interior is pristine, open, welcoming and comfortable. We enjoyed cooking in the well-stocked kitchen, relaxing hours reading, and appreciating the area's peacefulness and natural beauty.

You Will Want To Stay Longer

Overall this is a great Sea Ranch house. There are some things that could use a bit more attention to detail, but I would not hesitate to return to this property. It has views & views, inside and out. This rental has the best patio furniture BY FAR of any home we have rented at Sea Ranch. The sunsets from the deck each evening were delightful. Tip for seal sightings. We discovered that the seals congregate on the rocks about 50 yards north of the home at low tide (for us in the morning). Walk to the cypress grove about halfway through it, and then look over the cliff edge. You will get a seal surprise!

Really looked it!

The picture presentation doesn’t do justice. It looks much better in real life. It is right on the ocean just a few steps from the porch and you will find yourself on a pathway that goes along the cliff with stunning views. Sea Ranch itself is a beautiful community very quiet and tranquil. House was nicely decorated and we had plenty of room to accommodate 4of us. Kitchen was extremely well stocked. We did cook and knifes were very sharp:) Driving from San Francisco and along the coast might be a bit of challenge if you are not familiar with it but we really enjoyed it. The view from the porch and sounds of waves were magnificent. We did have really great time!

Lovely house, great view, wonderful property manager

This is a really great house to book. It's right on the walking trail, you've got the view of the ocean, and the house itself is wonderful. It's very clean, the kitchen is amazingly well stocked with every gadget and utensil you'll need for any stay (my two favorites were the coffee grinder and the knife sharpener - no dull knives! But there was just about anything you could think of). The beds are comfy, the living room is cozy, and there's a ton of space. Truly one of the nicest, stand-out aspects of the experience was Carole, who managed the entire process. She was so pleasant, and gave us all the information we needed to have a great stay. On top of that, she was available via text if we needed her. Very much recommend this rental!

Gorgeous and Tranquil property - perfect Sea Ranch getaway

My husband and I have been going up to Sea Ranch annually for the past four years and this was our first time staying right on the coast and at the Carlson house. We brought up our family to spend the new year's weekend there and they were delighted. The view is unprecedented - waves crash on the rocks just in front of the property and the window nook has a beautiful view down the jagged coastline. The house is well designed and in good condition. The cream carpet was a little daunting and we kept shoes off as instructed, which we also do in our own home, but is definitely necessary given the rain and that it is often a little wet up there when we go during the winter. There are ample games to play, a fully stocked kitchen, a fireplace, a wonderful large couch and daybed in the living room for plenty of seating - all things that make for a cozy stay. Definitely recommend this property and we are very grateful that the owner opened it up for others to enjoy.

A Magical Place!

My husband and I were over-the-top pleased with our stay at Kristine's home! The location of her home within Sea Ranch was perfect; it provided the most breathtaking views of the ocean and shoreline and ready access to the walking trails. What a fantastic way to awaken each day! The home exudes a sense of calm and centeredness - a real soulfulness - that supported and encouraged our goal to reset and recharge. My husband and I spent hours reading many of the authors' books available to us in the home, which further helped us achieve our goal of rest and realignment to what's most important in our lives. The house offered all the amenities we needed to feel entirely at home. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the living area was welcoming and warm. Carole, the property manager, was superb - proactively ensuring we had everything we needed to make our stay seamless -- Thank you for everything -- we will be back just as soon as we can!!

Very, Very Pleasant

From the start Owner has been very communicative on all info requests in kind & positive manner. Complete process went smoothly with no surprises, from making reservation, check-in, interim questions, & check-out. Everything very friendly yet professional. Property was everything as described and perhaps even better. Very clean, comfortable, well appointed, all appliances & services functional, furnishings excellent. No issues at all. Location worked well for us for some kick-back quiet days at the edge of Pacific Ocean. Enjoyed stepping off the deck to walking paths along oceans bluffs, Listening to surf at night, along with quiet solitude. No worry for us on carpet cleanliness. Used side entrance off front porch where we kept cleaned "house slippers", changing in/out of these on entry/exit. Turned out to be no trouble. Probably something we should do at each rental anyway. Bottom line: this is a great property to stay, in a great area of Cal. We are planning next stay in 2024.

Perfect quiet getaway

Spent a few nights at this residence towards the end of an extended vacation. The home was perfect for my family and the property manager was very helpful. The home provided perfect views no matter where you were of the ocean and access to the trails/community resources made it to where you never had to leave the area. When returning to the area for a vacation again I hope this property is available.

Superb Location and Comfort

This place hits all the marks. So close to the bluff trail, the views and sounds of the ocean from all rooms and the deck are spectacular. The home is so comfortable, featuring luxurious and tasteful furnishings with all amenities. The thoughtful design well reflects that of the amazing planners and stewards of The Sea Ranch.
