Bughea de Sus

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Schitu-Golesti?
The best area to stay in Schitu-Golesti is the village centre, particularly around the main road, DJ731.

This area offers the most convenience for visitors, with easy access to local amenities and the main routes connecting to nearby towns and attractions. You'll find a few guesthouses and local eateries dotted along or just off DJ731. It's a relaxed, rural setting, providing a good base for exploring the surrounding Argeș County.

For couples looking for a quiet retreat, staying in the village centre allows for pleasant walks through the local countryside and easy access to local traditions. It's a good starting point for day trips to historical sites like the Curtea de Argeș Monastery or the Poenari Citadel, both a reasonable drive away.

Families will appreciate the ease of access to the main road for excursions, and the generally peaceful environment for children.
When is the best time to go to Schitu-Golesti?
Schitu-Golesti is best visited during the late spring and early autumn months, specifically from May to June and September to October. These periods offer the most pleasant weather conditions for exploring the region.

This makes it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking in the surrounding hills or visiting local monasteries without the intense heat of summer. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season, which allows for a more tranquil experience.

Early autumn also provides excellent weather, with temperatures similar to late spring, usually between 10°C and 20°C. The landscape transforms with beautiful autumnal colours, particularly in the nearby Carpathian foothills, offering stunning scenery for photography and leisurely drives.
