Lakewood Lux Property - Dune Buggy Cottage at Treetops - HOT TUB
Treetops is Saugatuck’s only rental featuring three neighboring vintage cottages—perfect for multi-family getaways. Nestled around a shared firepit and professionally maintained hot tub, each cottage offers screened porches, harbor or dune views, and generous outdoor space for grilling and gathering. Cottages may be reserved individually or together, depending on availability. This listing is for Dune Buggy Cottage.
The most unique of the cottages, Dune Buggy is the newest one and a special retreat at the top of the dune with a wrap-around porch, studio-style layout with a wood-burning stove, half-bath, and outdoor shower. Guests can open all the windows and enjoy complete outdoor-style (screened-in) sleeping, or keep it closed for a cozy night on the dune. We at Lakewood Lux have recently enhanced the cottage with newly installed climate control (heat and air conditioning) and a thoughtfully designed kitchenette, offering elevated comfort and convenience for your stay. This cottage is the smallest, a perfect sleeping quarter to augment Big Red and The Lookout.

We had a great 2-night stay! Waking up to that view is awesome!! A unique vacation rental that felt quaint and cozy! Not much for privacy as there are no curtains/blinds. For us, it added to the fun “treehouse” experience but something to be aware of! Would come back and recommend!
We had a wonderful time, cozy home and awesome location!

Great location & cute cottage! Only downsides were: shared fire pit, lack of hot water, lack of privacy while showering, & TV only on porch which that furniture is not comfortable & it’s nice to be able to lay in bed to watch TV but couldn’t since it was on porch. Would had probably chose another place to stay if I would have known those things before hand. Owner is kind & communication was great! If things I mentioned above could be fixed, would stay here again!
Incredibly peaceful location with an attentive host who looks to make your stay the most comfortable it could be. I will definitely be looking to go back to Saugatuck using Erica's properties.
This is perfect cottage for weekend getaway. Very clean, peaceful, cozy, and location is excellent. Erica as a host is always available, helpful and understanding. Until next time! Thank you
The dune buggy cottage was absolutely perfect for a weekend getaway. The “vibe” was perfect for a relaxing weekend to celebrate our anniversary. The screened in porch was our favorite, drinking our morning coffee , listening to the bird chirping, watching deer and wild life was the perfect way to start our mornings. Our host Erica was amazing, she helped with any questions we had almost immediately. If you like the outdoorsy feel with being actual inside BOOK this place now! We will definitely be back!
The Buggy is so awesome! I surprised my wife with a last minute trip to Saugatuck. We had a great time enjoying the hot tub surrounded by trees. Even used the outdoor shower, plenty of hot water for us. The refrigerator and stovetop were adequate but clothes storage is lacking. We walked to the beach, took the chain ferry when possible and walked and shopped and ate. I enjoyed sitting in the screened porch and listening to the sounds of partying. We will check availability when we decide on our next visit.
Great location, better once road construction is complete.
Additionally, if you want to drive to the oxbow and crow’s nest trails take Park road towards and past Mt Baldhead Steps and continue through the subdivision to get to the trailheads. Disregard the “do not turn around in driveways signs” , there are many places to turn around without offending a “homeowner “.
Had a great time. The host, Erica, offered to upgrade our stay to a cabin with an indoor shower since it was chilly this weekend. The cabin was great. Very clean and well-equipped. Erica was very kind and responsive. I would definitely recommend this property.
The rating is for the Overlook Cottage. We were switched from the Dune Buggy Cottage by the host because it was double booked. It turned out great. The Overlook is a bit bigger and charming and has a better view. Photos don’t show steep climb and close neighbors.
Cottage was super cute and perfect for two! We loved our visit there.
The shower needed to be cleaned up better with more hot water for two to shower. The floor was also sandy felling so a broom and dustpan would have helped greatly.

way below expectations
unfortunately, we were very disappointed in the accommodations. It did indicate that there was an outdoor shower. However, we did not realize it was the only shower also, the shower curtain was half ripped off the shower stall itself with only two sided, leaving one open side to the neighbors and had large cobwebs in it and indicated we would be able to share a hot tub and a fire pit with other residents which would’ve been fine except that the hot tub was on the other person‘s deck, and the fire pit was outside the other persons side door, which would’ve been very rude to participate in it indicated that the hot water heater was small. There was less than two minutes of hot water for each shower and they had to be spaced about 45 minutes apart as an insurance person I would say that the steps leading to the location along with the railing or an extreme liability hazard, the railing itself was weak at best , the fireplace had loose rocks and sand around the bottom of it, which made it a hindrance also . there were two space heaters one worked great one was pointless. The city of Saugatuck Oval Beach in the surrounding areas will bring us back.
The cabin was super cozy and perfect for the Fall weather. Other cabins were close. Would love option for curtains, but windows were lovely. Woke up to multiple deer right outside our windows every morning. Close to Saugatuck and Douglas. Fire pit and hot tub are shared and are located on porches of the other cabins. There is signage that indicates that they are shared with all three cabins. The fire pit has an amazing view of the river. You can hear music from the restaurant across the river at night. It's so calming. We had a magical time and would highly recommend. The only issue was the shower. It isn't as private as we were used to. A curtain option would be ideal there as well.
Quaint, quiet, spacious cabin with enjoyable partial wrap around porch/living room. Outdoor shower could use a wider curtain ring to provide room to move nonetheless it was a unique experience. Access to retail/restaurants is not within walking distance unless the nearby chain ferry is operational (to which the walk is a precarious one as the road offers no shoulder). Otherwise, plan to drive to Oval Beach or downtown Saugatuck. Overall, a delightful, albeit somewhat rustic, stay.
Had an excellent time. The property was exactly as described and exactly what we were looking for. So peaceful and unique! Two little baby fawns walked up to the screened in porch area as we were drinking coffee the morning that we left.
We really loved this cabin! We were refreshed by the large screened windows which opened up to enjoy plenty of fresh air throughout the day. We were charmed by the wood-burning stove which kept us nice and toasty warm through the brisk fall evening. We relaxed in the bubbling waters of the hot tub. We were invigorated by the quick one-mile hike to Oval Beach. We were stuffed after visiting the wonderful restaurants of downtown Saugatuck. We were delighted by the thoughtful attention of our host, Erica, who did everything to make our experience the best it could possibly be! Absolutely would recommend and look forward to booking this or any of Erica’s properties for future stays. Thank you!
