Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Saudiyar?
The best areas to stay in Saudiyar are generally around the main entrance to the Lumbini Monastic Zone, specifically near the hotels situated along the road leading to the Sacred Garden.

This area offers the most convenience for visitors, as it's directly across from the main entry point to the significant religious and historical sites. You'll find a selection of hotels here, ranging from comfortable to more luxurious, all within a short walk or a quick cycle ride to the Sacred Garden. The immediate vicinity is relatively quiet, with local eateries and small shops suiting travellers.

For pilgrims and those focused on exploring the spiritual heart of Lumbini, staying near the Sacred Garden entrance is ideal. This allows for easy and repeated access to the birthplace of Buddha, the Mayadevi Temple, and the Ashoka Pillar. You can spend your days exploring these profound sites without lengthy commutes.

Couples looking for a peaceful and reflective trip will also appreciate this location. The proximity to the Sacred Garden means you can easily visit during quieter times of the day, such as early mornings or late afternoons, avoiding larger crowds and enjoying a more serene experience.
When is the best time to go to Saudiyar?
The best time to go to Saudiyar is during the dry season, from October to March, when the weather is most pleasant for sightseeing and outdoor activities.

During these months, you'll experience clear skies and comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 20-25Ā°C during the day. This makes it ideal for exploring the Lumbini Development Zone, which is close by, without the humidity or heavy rainfall of the monsoon season. This period is particularly good for families as the mild weather allows for extended time outdoors.

The shoulder seasons, April to May and September, also offer good travel conditions with fewer crowds, though temperatures can be warmer in April and May, sometimes reaching into the low 30sĀ°C. For travellers who prefer a quieter experience and don't mind slightly hotter weather, these months can be a good option.
