Located beach front on beautiful Longboat Key, this resort offers all the amenities of a large hotel with the privacy and seclusion that has Silver Sands guests returning each year. Relax on our private beach, walk on our soft white sand, take a dip in our heated beachside pool, or enjoy a complimentary chaise lounge and beach umbrella while breathing in the fresh salt-water air. Wireless Internet access is available in the privacy of your individual unit, at the garden area or on the pool deck.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed here last year, but decided this year was even better. The location of our rooms were perfect to walk on the beach early in the morning, to enjoy the pool during the day, and to marvel at the sunset in the evening. The kitchen was packed with supplies to make sure our “home cooking” was easy, and the modern decor was lovely. We also appreciated the two sleeping areas and the two televisions.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Although the office and maintenance staff were excellent, we have issues with the unit. The photos on the website prior to booking were everything we had hoped for. After booking the bedroom and bathroom photos changed. This happened to us last year with unit 245. We are in our 70's and booked a walk-in shower as pictured. We were disappointed both times to find step-in tubs with no grab bar - very dangerous for us. Sure seems like a bait and switch tactic RVA is using.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We are return visitors to this wonderful ,quiet ,clean gulf side resort. Margaret the property manager was extremely helpful and apologetic about our unit. This is our first chance to rent unit 243. It will be our last. There is no kitchen table. There is a small writing desk with 3 small ottomans for chairs instead. The bed has oversized legs that stick out and caused numerous bruises on our knees. The TV in the bedroom is covered with a large mirror on a chest of drawers. This prohibits the installation of child safety anti tipping devices. Do not rent this unit if you have children, have knees or want to enjoy a meal in the kitchen.

#243 - Wasn't Expecting American Roaches/Lack of Cleanliness

Reviewer Comments: When we checked out, asked to be contacted by RVA about my stay, but nobody bothered, so I will give you all the gory details (unfiltered).My wife and I have rented at Silver Sands several times and actually rented this same unit a number of years ago. The view is great and we were very happy with the accommodations...then. Not this time though. The unit was very dirty, had cat or dog hair (no pets allowed) floating around when the doors were open. Under beds and dressers was clumps of it. We swept it up multiple times and informed on-site management. One morning we found roaches on the counter along with other smaller bugs on the floor. The exterminator came and sprayed along the baseboards, but we still saw some bugs (at least not roaches) for a couple more days. The exterminator stated that if we had roaches, other units were likely to have them also...that is gross. We were very pleased with Margaret's (onsite) trying to help...she was a bright spot who at least cared about our concerned. Needless to say, at nearly $500 a night, we will never be back or ever rent from RVA again.

Great place and location

Great place, older style hotel right on beach, not modern but thats the nice part of it, very laid back hotel with anything you could want without the prudeness of newer places, and the location is great for biking or walking every morning on beach or down the blvd.

LOCATION is the best!

Walk out the lanai, past the pool, right to the beach! Condo has everything you might need; pool was warm; beautiful landscape! Only change I'd recommend is a new mattress, boxspring, bedframe; it's VERY squeaky and uncomfortable.

I loved the location looking out at the pool and Gulf. Very quiet and well maintained. Only problem when we checked in there were wet bathing suits on the floor behind the bathroom door. So was the floor even mopped? The bed was very hard a update in the mattress would be nice.

Reviewer Comments: Everything was fine except this unit did not sleep 4... me and the kids (6 & 9 years old) slept in the King bed and my husband took the couch all 4 nights... it folds out but the metal leg support was bent (producing a very uncomfortable hammock effect) and the air bed had a leak so we just made do. We liked the property but this particular unit needed some TLC... a mirror in the bedroom would have helped alleviate bathroom congestion and a new toaster would be nice since you had to push down really hard to make the old one there work... both very inexpensive touches.

Reviewer Comments: Our condo at Silver Sands was comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. The screened porch with its table and chairs was like adding another room. The pool was great and just a few steps from our room. The grills in the pool area were professional grade. We enjoyed the full-size refrigerator with ice-maker and the well-equipped kitchen. When we stayed there were ample beach chairs and umbrellas, so we didn't have to bring our own. And the beach was so close -- just beyond the pool. The condo was farther north on the island than we realized, but that meant we didn't have a lot of traffic or large developments close by. It's also close to the best restaurant on the island and other shops and restaurants. The property staff were professional, friendly, and available on-site for questions and requests. We felt very much at home. The bathroom was small, but it had everything we needed. We'll be back!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Upon arrival at 4:30 pm, no one was in the office. We were left the wrong keys,(for #243A) & I entered the wrong room that was occupied by another guest. I'm glad I wasn't shot. I felt I was put in a very dangerous situation, as was the other guest. There was no key in the lock box to our room. Over a half hour later a person from RVA arrived to give us keys to our room. We had a very difficult time getting wash cloths and towels, the room was not clean, and there was food spilled and dried down the side of the refrigerator. The paint on the kitchen appliances was peeling, and rusting. There were black spots that appeared to be mold or mildew on the ceiling next to the bedroom door. The dishes and cutlery was a mismatch of junk. The grout and tile in the bath was disgusting, and the metal around the tub was gross. The pool area was clean and beach was beautiful, we enjoyed that very much. The location is very nice and we enjoyed every restaurant we went to. We did not receive good customer service, as there was rarely anyone in the office when we went in to ask for something. The mattress and pillows were as hard as a rock.The furniture is very dated. We did enjoy the pool and beach, as the other guests were wonderful. Longboat Key is beautiful!!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Nice location with beach front access. However, as my stay progressed I noticed a few maintenance and furnishings issues, which I had brought to the attention of the front desk. Those issues included the following. 3 of the 4 chairs on the patio were disgustingly filthy with mildew and broken webbing that needed to be replaced. The vertical blinds needed to be replaced as well. The toilet ran constantly due to a worn out valve. The patio floor needed to be swept and mopped. There were bulbs missing in a lamp. The furniture was acceptable but a little sparse. Could have used a couple side tables to place your drinks and maybe an ottoman for the chair. All they had in the living room was a coffee table. All of these issues didn't ruin my stay but for the price there was no reason for any of these issues not to have been addressed in the first place. The front desk said they will take care of the issues so I hope at least the next guest should have a better stay. Actually I suppose I should have asked for some rent reduction for what I had to live with. Oh well, hind sight is always 20/20. On a better note. The nearby Blue Dolphin Cafe just down the street, was a great place for breakfast as well as the Lazy Lobster for dinner. Bradenton Beach is a short drive for many other restaurants. We enjoyed Anna Maria Oyster Bar on the pier a couple times as well. I am still going to recommend this property for a get-a-way even with the issues that could easily be corrected if addressed soon.
