Gorgeous hotel
Love every moment of this hotel stay. Inside is like part church part historical landmark, with lots of museum level art work, and one of the comfortable bed and room I've stayed anywhere. Entrance to hotel isn't distinct, but once inside, place is wildly fascinating and staff very friendly. Parking off street is abundant and free, easy walking distance to town center, musical venues, laundromat, and convenient stores. Since town is small, not ideal for long stay, but there numerous cute small villages to explore, including Haro, which is capital to Rioja and home to many restaurants featured in Michelin guide, like Nublo, just 19 minutes away. Spa services available at their affiliated location just 5 mins away. I can't wait to stay here again.

Lovely Parador in 16th Century convent. Room was excellent. No restaurant on site but only a short walk in to town, which has some good bars and restaurants.On site parking was limited, but plenty of parking in nearby streets which felt safe. Would stay again

Worth it .
Amazing and beautiful building . Lovely rooms and the biggest towels I’ve seen in a hotel . Only thing I think that would add to the experience is maybe a few more smiles at the front desk .

Lovely town in easy walkimg distance, which maybe why there is no bar or restaurant. Parking was a limited but there was spaces at either side of the proprty. Building and rooms were great.

Great hotel. Paradors always are. Amazing rehab of old church and convent into the present hotel. Staff was nice and it was historic yet clean and up to date. My one wish is that it had A/C. But we enjoyed our stay.

Really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful building, stately rooms, where you seem to go back in time. Enjoyed the view over the courtyard. We went to the other parador for supper, would have preferred to have the option to stay at our own parador, but booked knowing that this wasn’t an option - we felt the atmosphere was worth it, and were not wrong. Good breakfast, although the coffee was disappointing. Friendly, courteous staff, an absolute pleasure to stay here.

The Parador Santo Domingo Bernard de Fresneda is a great example of how Spain has preserved and made ongoing use of its many historic buildings. On the positive side, the hotel is beautifully appointed with wonderful public spaces and an excellent comedor (restaurant). On the negative side, the old plumping system in the building gives off a very strong unpleasant sewer odour in the guest bathrooms - each bathroom being fitted with an exhaust fan. The reception staff are efficient but not very welcoming.

Luxury on the Camino
We treated ourselves to one parador while doing the Camino. What a treat it was! The bedding, the room, the bathroom were all gorgeous. It is right in the heart of Santo Domingo de la Calzada so we had a chance to walk around in the evening and explore. We didn’t opt to eat here - meals seemed expensive after the pilgrim accommodations and meals along the Camino.

Not the hotel I excpected
When I arrived I was told there were 2 Paradors of same name I thought I had booked Parador de Santa Domingo but they said it was hotel 200m away the one I stayed in was nice but no dining facility only breakfast and bar not really open The one I had booked had full facilities and was 4 * will the one I was sent to was 3* both owned by same company . I felt they had work a fast one .

Staying at a Parador is almost always a treat. The room was excellent, good lighting, comfortable chair and a very comfortable bed. It may have been off season, but there were few people in the bar or at breakfast. The breakfast was excellent as promised and not at all crowded. My eggs were perfect.

Really beautiful and convenient. Wish we had a larger bed! Advertised queen was only a full. Our first nights sleep after 2 days of flying was not as good as we had hoped. Otherwise , a wonderful experience with amazing breakfast and great local ambience. Short drive to great wine region

Both Paradors in Santo Domingo are stunning, you can't go wrong! We did the Camino de Santiago and made sure to stay a minimum of two nights in each town with a Parador because they are such a special experience.

Parador in Santo Domingo de la Calzada
Really impressive building. Public rooms downstairs are castle-like. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The location of the parador is right at the beginning of the cute town, Santo Domingo de la Calzada. Highly recommend. When you book be sure to say whether you want meals or not. A lot is added to price for meals. Didn't remember seeing an option online, but nice counter people at parador contacted hotels.com and they reduced the price to reflect our needs.

hotel in old monastery
The hotel is in the old monastery. This adds a nice "old" feeling. The room and hotel interior are decorated in the appropriate style, and generally hotel is well kept and staff was friendly and can speak English well. The only problem for us was that there is no air conditioning anywhere including rooms, and it was not a pleasant temperature in early September, so sleeping was difficult.

Very exciting hotel in an old monastery. Great service and location. The only downside was that there is no bar/restaurant facilities; these are in the sister hotel in downtown, a few 100 m away.

The other parador in Santo Domingo
This parador is in a beautiful old building about 500 metres from the centre of Santo Domingo which is a very comfortable small town with a beautiful old section and pleasant newer additions in the middle of la Rioja with good food and amazing wine. You can't eat or drink in the parador but it's a very short walk to many places you can, including the other parador - and parking is much easier. No reason not to choose it and enjoy both.

Beautoful historic hotel with modern comforts
Hotel was a fantastic Spain experience and beautifully preserved. The room put us back in time but with all modern comforts. They provide ample toiletries including tissues and a comb. The room and hotel was very clean. Internet fast and reliable.

This Parador does not have air conditioner in the rooms. We did not notice until we went into the room. Please verify the description as, since they do not say that it has airconditioner as part of the room ammenities, they will not refund your money or cancel the reservation if not within the time frame. There is another Parador in this town with a similar name that does have air conditioner for €10.00 more a night.

Excellent hotel close to Cathedral
Absolutely amazing hotel. Close to Burgos Cathedral. Staff could not have been more helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Highly recommend.
