this was a gem of a place to stay. An old medieval convent dressed with antique furniture and a beautiful common area to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. Perfect romantic location.

Quaint hotel
Parking limited and our car was bumped. We asked if we could borrow an iron to just refresh some clothes and was told there wasnt one !! it's a lovely quaint hotel with an easy few steps to the heart of Santillana. Breakfast was plentiful

Great hotel, terrific location
Well it the Hotel Santillana was just great. The room was fine as even as a 'double' with the extra bed as we were three, we still had plenty of room. We didn't dine there apart from breakfast, but that was hearty with as much as you would want. The hotel's location, right at the starting point for the pedestrianised town, couldn't be better. The hotel itself has lots of very comfortable public sitting areas, all delightfully furnished and full of antiques, especially clocks! I would thoroughly recommend it.

This is our third stay
Great hotel, Friendly staff, love the very spanish deco. Will stay again and again. On our last visit the hair dryer and shower head holder was faulty. But did not disappoint us on previous visits. Recommended.

Excellent location
Location of the hotel was excellent and we were able to park right outside although there did not appear to be many parking spaces. Receptionist was very helpful and her English was great. Overall a lovely place to stay and I would stay again.

Great price, not so great condition.
Santillana is a beautiful town and the hotel proudly bears the name of Museum. However, time has taken its toll and the condition is less than perfect. If you want to spend some quiet time alone, this is not the place to do it! Background noise from adjoining rooms is very high and in our case, the bathroom shower fell apart the second day. Price is very good, but the hotel could do with some refurbishment.

Central location in prettiest Spanish village
Hotel in historic school building on busy corner in village. Rooms quite small but adequate and clean. Hotel beautifully furnished with antique furniture with lots of lounge areas to read and relax. Computers also available for use by guests. Breakfast was a good continental with the best tortilla I have ever tasted.

Hotel Santillana
We stayed overnight (before starting a motor tour of parts of Spain), having arrived in nearby Santander from the UK in the early evening. The hotel was a pleasant place to stay, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the bar was of very good quality and value. The only (very minor) "downside" was that in spite of GPS we found the hotel hard to find - because nowhere on its frontage does the word "Museo" appear. (Some of the locals also appeared baffled - even though ther were within a few metres of the hotel).Perhaps its adverts etc. should refer to "Hotel Santillana" which would be quickly recognised.

A little Gem!
Amazing place and hotel. Would thoroughly recommend. The hotel is cosy, beds are exceptionally comfy! Lovely bar in the hotel. We did not eat in hotel restaurant as the hotel is just accross the road for loads of lovely well priced restaurants.The staff are lovely too. Would highly recommend!

Beautiful hotel off the beaten track
I decided on this hotel because I didn't want to stay in Santander centre and this isn't too far away. The public spaces are filled with museum quality furniture, books and art and the architecture is superb. The staff are wonderful: polite and friendly, and they did their best to understand / help me with my Spanish. My room was very clean and quiet and I had the most comfortable bed! Breakfast was fine and the coffe excellent! I would definitely stay here again if I'm in the area: extremely satisfied with my stay.

2 dogs excepted! a gem of a find for us.
I needed somewhere to stay the night before my ferry crossing at santander, but i was having problems, finding accomodation, as i have 2 dogs. Then i came across this hotel, so helpful, and nothing too much trouble. They even reserved us a space for our van and plant trailer.... it only takes 30 mins to get to the ferry port from the hotel.. The hotel, is a bit dated, but clean, and the showers were powerful and hot, exactly what we needed after a long days drive. I would deffinately use again..

Very popular village in spectactular area
Excellent quirky hotel in beautiful village, staff friendly also pet friendly and a short 20 mins drive to ferry terminal. Will definitely use again when traveling from/to Santander. We did not eat in the hotel as there is plenty of restaurants and hotels in this very popular village....well worth a visit!

would like to have stayed longer
we both loved the hotel, and the area,could be a little difficult for parking, so we drove around the corner to a huge car park (2 euro),and walked back 2 mins,dog was welcome, wish we could have stayed longer,didnt want to stay in Santander ,so had this short drive to Santillana worth the 20 mins or so drive off the ferry.The only thing was we looked for the hotel museo! but no one knew it by that name ,it was just hotel santillana,will go again definatly

We only stayed one night and the hotel is enchanting oldie world decor. It is right in the middle of a beautiful village and close to the beaches ( 10 mins by car ). It was a bargain.

Lovely,quaint, but very comfortable hotel. Staff very attentive and helpful. Stayed in early July and did not notice lack of air conditioning. Location slap bang in middle of fascinating town, lots of interesting shops and restaurants nearby. Visit the nearby museum of the 15,000 her old cave paintings, free on Sundays but big queue for tickets if you do not get there early. Quite near Port of Santander if coming off ferry and need first night stay. Hotel pet friendly as well

Not a nice hotel for a stay with friends
Hotel is overequipped with lots of ancient stuff just to keep the style and it is too much. Hotel rooms not very comfortable and quite small. Very limited choice of food for breakfast and everything just sweet. It is not allowed to take any food to hotel rooms. Good location in the center of the village and parking for hotel guests free of charge. We got a room with a king bed although we wanted 2 separate beds. Older couples may appreciate the hotel and its equipment but it is not a good choice for a stay with friends.

a lovely surprise to be in such a beautiful area. The lounge areas were too cold to sit in with any comfort and the lighting too dim to read or play cards.It would be nice to have english programmes on the TV.

Very good hotel as intro to Spain off the ferry
The only reason I have marked the hotel down on comfort was the mattresses were 'memory' ones, and were therefore hot. But this would not worry everyone, and we only realised it in the night.

Great Place, shame about the Hotel
This hotel is a museum, and is advertised as such on site within the village...The building is filled with classic Spanish antiques and furniture, we found it fascinating and it did add to the atmosphere . The check in experience was fine, but I understand some Spanish and my Wife speaks it fluently. This coast is a Spanish tourist area and little English is spoken here, so this should not be held as a negative against this hotel. People without any of the language could find the whole thing very frustrating. The room was clean, the beds comfortable and the bathroom facilities more than adequate. What was disappointing was the arrangements for breakfast and the parking. Parking in Santilliana del Mar is at a premium, the few reserved spaces outside the hotel and across the junction remained full for our whole stay, there is parking for the hotel but it is 400 metres up the main road. A long trek with cases. Breakfast was in the basement breakfast room of an associated hotel a hundred metres up the hill. The food was decidedly average by standards set by other 3 star hotels we stayed in during our week on this delightful coast. The waiter was surly and had to be asked for everything rather than offering service. Not a great start to the trip - we shall not be returning to this hotel... Lovely little village, a great choice of restaurants and local as well as tourist shops. Great local food and on the Camino pilgrim route.

This hotel is beautiful, located in an historic casona and filled with antique furniture and paintings. However, the crossroads of the two main highways into town is located directly beneath most of the guestroom balconies. The traffic noise was incessant and intrusive. It did not abate at night, as trucks were constantly passing through. I wore earplugs and still found it difficult to sleep peacefully. It's a shame, because the hotel itslef is charming, and located right at the entrance to the old village. Since staying here,I have started using google.maps to investigate future hotels' traffic patterns. I have really never experienced anything like it before.

Absolutley stunning - picturesque village just outside of Santander - well worth a visit. Wish we had stayed longer. Cannot fault the hotel, it was clean, bedroom was more than adequate, took the dog and was welcomed without hesitation. Beautiful surroundings too. Not much English spoken tho but muddled through. Very typically Spanish - would highly recommend a stop off!

Hotel Santillana - excellent location
An old fashioned hotel right on the side of the busy through road. Nevertheless the hotel rooms are comfortable and quiet. Car parking is limited so had to park the car elsewhere after unloading the bags and walking back. Its excellently located though to visit Santillana and I had no problems at all with the stay and would recommend.

El hotel es museo, con espacios comunes preciosos con los muebles antiguos,colecciones de relojes, es como transportarse en el tiempo. La habitación no me resultó del todo cómoda, un poco pequeña a mi gusto.
