"Hung up in unbelievable traffic in Santa Cruz, I was not able to check into the hotel until 7 AM the next day when they reopened. So I don't have the overnight experience one expects.
That said, the room was very clean, the shower had good hot water, and I did get a morning nap on the bed. Fort7nately, it is off the road a bit. But noise carries and young Costa Ricans love their motorcycles. So if you are super noise sensitive that might bother you, but the traffic is really light on that...

"Amazing place, incredible service and wonderful staff. Not a typical hotel stay. It’s remote and on its own incredible property which makes it special. The staff is always available for your needs, the rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and food was delicious. Extremely satisfied with my stay. "

"We had a great time in Samara! The apartment was a perfect size for our family of 4. Great location - so close to little shops, bakery and restaurants. The apartment and pool area was very clean. The included breakfast was delicious! We always felt very safe and appreciated the entry by code and lock box so we didn’t have to carry keys with us. They also assisted us with an amazing turtle egg laying night excursion.
It’s a short walk to the beachfront property (where breakfast is served). Beach pictures are a little misleading. Yes, lounge chairs are available but there isn’t much room to use them. In front of the building is a surf school that has palapas for rent; meaning you can use the hotels chairs but not directly in front and no shade found. I think they have 1 umbrella to use but one of the other guests was using it.
Overall, we loved Samara and loved this place and would definitely stay here again."
"We loved the hotel, however we were woken up by loud construction going on in the property each morning and our shade was broken in our room which was never addressed after we reported it several times. The only other thing is if you are going to this hotel DO NOT FLY INTO SJO. THE TRAFFIC IS DANGEROUS AND 5.5 hour drive. Expedia is at fault on this. They should not even have it as an alternative. It’s like wanting to go see the Alamo and they fly you into Dallas."
"Best hotel in Samara, guaranteed! Affordable and smack downtown. Laura, Jessica and Karina were top notch with their fine customer service and friendliness. Pools and overall property is well kept. Had an amazing stay plus breakfast was a perk. Italian restaurant in site is a must! Extremely pleased. Will come back here."
"The beach view was amazing.
The view from the pool was amazing.
They said my reservation wasn't booked with my vip status, so no vip perks.
Breakfast says buffet, and the picture shows buffet, but it's à la carte, so not a buffet for the price; you can get a better breakfast elsewhere."
Luxury by the Beach - Great for Families or Multiple Couples
10/10 Excellent
"Exceeded expectations! A beautiful home and property. Communication was excellent. We literally felt like we were at home. Thank you, Leo and Samara Rentals for making our first time to CR so welcoming and memorable"
