"As an All-Accor member and given the name of “Sofitel” I expected more. From the start it felt as if my husband and I were discriminated against. We are POC. During the check in process we were greeted by the doorman who took our luggage and asked us to wait on a couch right next to the check in counter to be assisted with check in. We did as instructed and waited while new guests walked in who were white and given service immediately and checked in before us. My husband then decided to just stand and wait so we were noticed more and he went up to the check in counter to initiate the process himself. During the check in process the individual who checked us in claimed we had two reservations under different names which was untrue. She didn’t realize multiple guests could have the same last name and made us feel like we had made a mistake, but this was cleared up. Since we arrived a tad early we were asked to wait until the room was ready and that we could leave and explore the city and would receive a call once our room was ready. We did not. Additionally, the front desk staff was overall rude and not helpful. We asked for assistant with the room plugs since they were all European and we were unable to charge our devices. We were instructed to purchase adapters even though the hotel obviously had loaned adapters to other rooms. Over our 5 night stay we were never greeted when leaving or arriving to the property. Also, the cleaning staff needs better training on knocking."
