This idyllic beachside sanctuary is a collaboration between a renowned architect and a visual artist and designer. Palapa Concreta is an eco-friendly project that combines ancient local techniques such as a woven palm roof with the modern technology of concrete. It is a minimalist space that opens onto the natural landscape, with high ceilings and careful attention to every detail —from the ceramic dishes to the furniture and garden— just a few steps from the beach!
The space
Staying at Palapa Concreta is a really different experience compared to staying in a hotel or a regular apartment room. Here you connect with nature: in the morning you will find yourself listening to the early birds nesting in the tree branches inches away from our balcony or watching the rolling waves.
At night, it has a cozy vibe with the warm lights, surrounding plants and the cactus garden. The shower is open to the sky and you will enjoy receiving the light of the twinkling stars and the full moon while taking a shower, after a long warm beach day.
Guest access
There are 2 large bedrooms: 1 with mountains-sunrise view and Queen size bed; another one with ocean/sunset view, balcony and King size bed. The kitchen is fully equipped and there's also a grill for bbq and a wood fire oven
Other things to note
A note on coastal internet: ALL internet on the coast is cellular. We have no other infrastructure here. In our experience, the internet works great most of the time, but outages for a few hours can be expected during high winds and other weather events. There is great 3G cell reception at the house. You’ll get on average 10mbps download speeds (checked with fast.com), but there’s a limited GB quota per month, so if it starts getting slower let us know and for 5$ you can buy an extra 25GB at high speed.
Tierra Blanca is part of a coastline of more than 20 uninterrupted kilometers of white sand and virgin nature.
If you like surfing, Tierra Blanca is an open water wave-magnet beach break that is exposed to any swell coming from the south or southwest. The main spot is a beautiful “A-frame” wave surrounded by various spots to the east and west where you can find your own left or righthander and have an unforgettable solo session. The best time is when the Zicatela monster sleeps: during the dry season (November to May), however there are good waves all year round. Tierra Blanca is a smooth but juicy wave, excellent to learn (we have contact with local instructors who can come to give you surf lessons) or to give intermediate and advanced surfers excellent sessions. At the right tide it offers carveable sections and nice hollow barrels that can make your day. Even during the offseason it's advisable bringing your step-up: this spot is a wave magnet and it can get some size with small south swells
