The only good thing about this place was the service at the front desk and friendly staff. The place is very overpriced, run down and noisy! I am not a picky person (the prior place i stayed had scorpions and other visitors, and the shower "drain" was a hole in the wall I happily stayed there for 2 weeks because it was advertised as what it was and priced fairly) this placed is priced WAY TOO HIGH and the pictures are DECEPTIVE. Cracked front window, kitchen light didn't work, no kitchen towel or dish sponge, no match or lighter to light the stove, sheets and towels were clean but stained, walls and tub chipped, pans completely scratched with no Teflon remaining, spatulas and plastic utensils melted and dirty. Housekeeping didn't come because they couldn't find a key to the room really??? Swim pool is size of large hot tub and not at all like pictures! Bed and pillows were fairly comfy but room rate advertised as queen size and was only a double. Front of rooms face a bar and back is on the road. Bring earplugs If you hope to sleep. If this place was only
70 usd per night I might have stayed but checked out early found something far nicer and cheaper.
The rooms and property was horrible wish I could post pictures the worst place I’ve stayed at so far without a doubt hands-down horrible the rooms the property everything driving down second floors of buildings destroyed with people sleeping downstairs Old foundations with pipe sticking out of the ground no balconies no Beachview no beach access everyone staying had something to say about the rooms on the property very disappointed and construction going up right outside my back window no sleeping in late too much noise !!!

Adequate for the price
This is an older hotel that could use some TLC. The couch was broke, the TV was missing and the bathroom window wouldn't shut properly. The staff was very friendly and got us a TV and replaced the couch but it wasn't what I wanted to be doing on vacation. If you are looking for a decent place for a decent price this resort is fine. But if you are looking for something fancy during your vacation, this wouldn't be the resort for you.
Do not stay at this hotel! Staff is really nice, cafe and bar are great. But the hotel is being replaced by condos and the hotel, rooms, and facilities are not being maintained. The beach is unfinished seawall. I would not recommend this hotel, the pictures are very outdated and inaccurate.

This was my 3rd room via Expedia
You know.....my room was cancelled twice...once as I stood at "my" place.. At 3 .30 p.m....in....Belize.. .. the call to Expedia to find me a room was horrible..... their phone connection. Was every word lost..the Expedia host tried once to move me to a place about a mile north and a mile west of my last place that I said would never do... Horrible place ..than what was my circle of the city square was..they found a place... after another hour and another cab fare.was South of the square... another mile... but.... I had a room....
The customer service was impeccable and it was in an area close to town.

Just ok
We paid extra on hotels.com for a king size bed but we were not given one. Walking distance from town. Right on the beach. Room and bathroom were old and dated and somewhat clean. Minimal beach chairs or shade.
First, they didn't have our reservation. The buildings are extremely run down. We accessed our room through a sliding glass door that we could barely slide. In fact, only my husband could get it open just enough for us to fit through. Once inside, the door was even harder to open. Furnishings were old, but the bed was comfortable. The pool was a large hot tub. They did offer use of a pool at a club down the street. There was no beach. The bar across the street had kareoke (sp?) that sounded like it was in our room, competing with the bar next door. When we told locals where we were staying, they were surprised and said "it was going down hill." They said they would have a cab to take us to the ferry when we checked out, but it did not come. Luckily, we hailed one driving by. The only saving grace was that the staff was friendly.

very convenient and super fun
I would say we were delightfully pleased. and located on the premises was one of the best bars on the caye with lots of entertainment to keep one amused. There was a cafe that served breakfast and lunch the food was less then acceptable. The staff was friendly and courteous and very helpful in booking excursions and side-trips. As far as appearances go the pictures presented online leave a lot to be desired. But for location you can't beat it and the price was right.
The only thing I would say I was disappointed in was lack of secure parking space for renting a golf cart which I highly recommend.
It was very good overall... the pool is small but nice, it is very near to the center os the caye and hs a very nice beach view... i would recomend it!
The hotel doesn't have a real pool which was a disappointment. The pictures on line are misrepresented. This property needs a lot of work. The front desk closes at 5pm and reopens at 8am. It's very inconvenient especially if you need something. Our bath towels had holes on them, trash wasn't taken for two days, I had to ask for house keeping at 5pm both days. It really grossed me out to get up, make coffee only to find moldy grounds from previous guest. Our room wasn't dark as the curtains are thin and the outdoor light shines in. I generally give reviews that are positive but this property was exceptionally disappointing. I later found out that there is only one house keeper which isn't right for her and able to provide the service the hotel needs. The owner was there and if I was him, I would have wanted his guests happy but instead all the guests were neglected so he was served first. I travel the world and will never recommend this property. The employees at the front desk are very friendly and try as well as the ground keeper. Yet, if the manger and owner do not take pride with employing enough people or setting better standards then this hotel will not last.
It is obvious that the pictures were taken awhile ago. The buildings need some work and the beach is non-existing for part of the property.

Nice spot but suffering as demolition day nears
We stayed 10 days and greatly enjoyed ourselves because of the hotel's proximity to San Pedro, many local restaurants and the great view from our balcony. Our unit was very large and comfortable although the living room was a little noisy due to the nearby pub; fortunately the bedroom was quiet. Maid service was spotty - less than half the time we were there. Also, the room leaked badly during rainstorms after a plastic sheet covering the roof blew away. We were told the complex is scheduled for demolition soon; that may explain the cost/service tradeoffs we experienced.
Very comfortable accommodations with two restaurants on the premises. The Crazy Canuck's bar with live music several nights each week also a plus. Terrific, friendly staff. Beach towels provided; lounge chairs on the beach and poolside.

Wonderful staff and beautiful location!
A memorable holiday enhanced by lovely people, beautiful weather and excellent hotel location. In its day, exotic caye must have been breathtaking...It is somewhat tired and worn, but the beauty remains in its rustic and intimate space. The service was exceptional - Claudia, Ted, Anna ..just to name a few. The accommodations were perfect for us- -clean, spacious and private with an exceptional view of the ocean! We had planned on returning next year for 0ne month, but unfortunately it will be torn down and turned into a more modern, larger facility....not to our liking!
We have returned to this resort multiple years. The investment group who owns it wants to tear it down and build a 5 story resort. They had some 150+ tour the group Linda and see their future plans in hopes that they would invest in the new resort. The Exotic Caye has always had a special atmosphere and a quaint familiarity that seemed to truly represent the way of the island. We won't be coming back if it is torn down and turned into a 5 story multi-building resort that mimics every other new development. We already began to search for our new home away from home for our next trip.
Sadly, we will miss the staff the very most and will go back and visit them for sure, but the owners don't seem to want to put any money into maintaining the place now as they are just looking to go bigger and we don't feel it will be better.

Convenient at-beach location
This was a "San Pedro" reconnaissance/exploration" 1-day stay. It proved to be an excellent springboard location. Nearby access yo quality services was a definite plus, as was pleasant Hotel and Eatery staff.

nice spot
The staff here are so nice! The room was reasonable--a nice balcony out front that looks out on the beach. Mine came with a kitchen and living area (the a/c is in the bedroom so needs to drift to the front, fyi). Bring insect repellent--I was battling them in the room throughout. And it is a bit further away so expect to walk into town. There is a fairly loud bar with live music on the premises--be prepared for music.
Nice location on a beach. Restaurant feet from our room, with a market a half a block away. Included a kitchen. The range and oven had to be lit with a match to use, bot the refrigerator was fine and the unit included plates, cups, cutlery and a frying pan. The beach was also right outside the room, and beach towels were provided, The staff was very helpful and pleasant.
Fantastic room with great balcony. Made breakfast and coffee in the room and we lived the full separate bedroom and bathroom.. Would stay again for sure.
I loved this resort! Super friendly staff, right on the beach and very safe! It was so islandy and literally a 10 sec walk to take a dip in the ocean or lay on the beach. The room was very spacious and clean. I dont know what other people were talking about the bar being loud, I didnt hear it at all and its not open too late. It was also my favorite bar to go to, many locals and I love the bartender Kevin. The location is nice that its not directly downtown but its close and a nice 10-15 min walk along the beach to get there. I will stay here whenever Im in San Pedro amd highly recommend it to others
