"I quite like this hotel and it's one of the better hotels in the Merced area. My only issue is that it is quite loud on the M Street side because the train is in the vicinity, which runs until very late. The other problem that they cannot control is the health food/juice bar (also the M Street side) that blasts music all day starting at 9 a.m. Book yourself a room on the alley side, or quiet side. One of the best features of El Capitan is it has a nice coffee bar downstairs that also serves snacks. Their staff is very friendly, too. I also love the filtered water and ice station on the 3rd floor. If you're a big water drinker, this is a marvelous amenity."

"The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The small gym had state of the arts equipment. The pool area was very nice. Also it’s close to restaurants. "

"Clean rooms with recent renovations and nicely landscaped property Air conditioning unit was very loud and I didn’t see any morning coffee available but it was a 10 min walk to a nice Italian cafe that made excellent lattes. Good location. Excellent value for the price. "
