"We reserved 2 family rooms and they tried to give us a family room and 2 twin beds. The toilets in one of the rooms did not have a working flusher, the family room had steep stairs to the bathroom. One of the rooms reeked of cigarette smoke!! People were milling around in front of there rooms, almost as if the air conditioner was not working. The place was DIRTY and I mean dirty!! The outside was dirty and the rooms were dirty!! The linens did not look like they have been changed! The bathroom...

"First of all, we had a hard time finding the address as it was not the exact location as shown in the website. Secondly, i have been calling the number from the website to confirm the exact location and when i got an answer, the lady was so rude-until i asked if it was the hotelā€™s number, she suddenly changed her tone of voice(so much of customer service/etiquette), then she did not update her email to confirm we booked for 2 family rooms; and lastly, the rooms smelled/reeking of smoke, light...

"The hotel staff are all confused and unprofessional ! In the web site of the hotel, it says, checkin starts at 8 am (due to early arrivals of boats from the islands), but at 9:30 am we were told that the earliest check in would start at 2 pm! We also had two rooms reserved, but the front desk clerk told us that her paper work shows only one room! She had no computer to check the reservations from Expedia. We were forced to contact Expedia, ask them to send us two separate confirmations to show...

"The place was good, I just got surprised by the 2nd floor because it was not the same on the picture, they did not update the design, water is always a problem in there but thanks to Kuya Arnel he did put aside a water for us in a big BIN, we were away most of the time because we travel all over in Dinagat, and our stay was great"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in San Jose?
The best area to stay in San Jose is along Daungan Road, particularly around the main town centre.

This area is the heart of San Jose, offering easy access to essential services and local attractions. It's where you'll find the municipal hall, the main public market, and several local eateries. Many of the town's guesthouses and small hotels are concentrated here, making it a convenient base for exploring.

For solo travellers, staying near the town centre along Daungan Road is ideal. It provides a practical and straightforward experience, with easy access to public transport options like tricycles for getting around. You'll find it simple to organise day trips to nearby beaches or the Bitaog Beach area from here.

Couples looking for a comfortable base will also appreciate the town centre.
When is the best time to go to San Jose?
The best time to go to San Jose, Caraga, Philippines, is during the dry season, which typically runs from March to November.

This period generally offers sunny days and lower humidity, making it ideal for outdoor activities and exploring the natural beauty of the region. You'll find the weather pleasant for visiting beaches, going island hopping, or trekking through the local landscapes.

For travellers looking to enjoy the region's natural attractions without the inconvenience of heavy rainfall, the months of April to June are particularly good. The seas are usually calmer, which is great for water sports and boat trips to nearby islands.

If you're interested in local festivities, planning your trip around the town fiesta in May could add a cultural highlight to your visit, though it might mean slightly larger crowds.
