SJ Landmark The Hensley House Master Suite with Bathtub Unit 1

The Hensley Historic District was adopted as a local Historical Landmark District in 1990 by the San Jose City Council. The district contains over 225 buildings that contribute to its historic character, representing the largest concentration of Victorian era residences in greater San Jose.
The namesakes of the district, Major Samuel J. and Mary Helen Hensley, were early San Jose residents of the American period, whose lives are interwoven with the origins of modern California.The period of significance for the establishment of the historic district is 1865-1918.
456 north 3rd st, named The Hensley house, is one of the top well-perserved Victorian building since 1894.
It was a B&B in 70th, and turned into Airbnb by its new owner. Now, the Hensley House has 7 unities, all has its own bathroom, some has full kitchen.
The Unit 1, located at the first floor, is the most well kept from the original interior amount other units. Colorful stained glass, hand carved wood cabinet, gold chandelier, hand painted ceiling with gold foil…
While experiencing the historical beauty, newly remodeled shower, bath top, and kitchen will give guests higher comfort level.

Fantastic place in heart of SJ

For Victorian-age connoisseurs such as my wife and I, this was a treat. An interesting blend of old and new, making for a very comfortable stay. We were in Room 1 - highly recommended.

Quick getaway

My husband and I absolutely adored the master suite, the decor the house everything was magical. Quick walk or bike ride to everything you would need a hostess was quick with communication.We will definitely be back!

I used to live in this neighborhood and it was so great being back. It is far enough out of downtown to not have too much noise but close enough to walk or grab the light rail to get to anything you need. Room was great and wish my trip had been longer to enjoy it more!

Lovely and comfortable

Lovely house and neighborhood. Comfortable accommodations. A bit of trouble getting in but it was resolved quickly. While it was very clean in the most important areas, more attention to dusting wouldn’t hurt 😊

Excellent option instead of hotel

This was a surprising, but enjoyable stay. We were looking for an option other than a hotel. The location is easy to find, instructions to enter your room are easy to follow, security is a plus, and the room was a nice, respite from our daily activities. The suite includes the best rainshower and tub combo, a small kitchenette, and a separate toilet with sink area. The armoire allows you to put your traveling items away. The room was vintage pretty and the bed was comfortable.

Nice stay

Pleasant neighborhood and local restaurant in walking distance. Clean linen and nice appeal. Stairs above us and neighbor was loud. No hand towel and poor parking availability. Tub was not cleaned out. Shower was great. Lighting was wonderful.

Amazing!

The pictures do not do this home justice. It’s absolutely beautiful! I stayed in unit 1 and it had it all. The bed is a Tempur-pedic and I slept amazing. Huge TV. Overall it was just a wonderful stay.

Quaint house

I loved the old victorian style house that hold a lot of history within its walls! The staff were very kind and courteous even after a slight mix up. Very beautiful part of town next door to an iconic Japanese town. Strict hours for the lobby area which is a bit of a drawback but understandable for people who want their sleep.

I usually stay in hotels whenever I travel the Bay Area, which I do very often. But this time, I tried this place, and I loved the place. It was charming and yet comfortable in a historic neighborhood. It was well stocked and has all the amenities you would expect. Will try again.

Three nights in San Jose

The property was enchanting, its wonderful architecture and its lush history we found just great! My fiance's sister and her daughter loved their room as well. We were in town for my fiance's younger daughter's wedding in Los Gatos at Nestldown which was also amazing. We just couldn't get over how incredibly fortunate we were to have found this magical place and not just staying at another motel somewhere. I would highly recommend staying at The Hensley House to anyone visiting San Jose!!

Beautiful victorian home

What can I say. This property was absolutely beautiful. The images do not do it justice. The bed was probably one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Check in was easy. Finding the house was easy! And communication was the best part! The . They always responded within minutes of me asking a question I will be staying here anytime I come to San Jose. <3

After a 6 hour drive up from LA, the luxe tub and shower were worth the whole price of admission. The room was so beautiful with matching recliners, we opted to stay in. The little kitchenette provided space to make a small nosh.The bottle of wine and serene surroundings made a casual evening of recuperation and conversation feel better than any restaurant. Thank you.

One of the best places I ever stayed in!

Very cosy. A place is like co-living with 6 units with all the amenities inside the unit. And there’s a huge common area where you can chill, eat, hang out. All the necessary things like towels, shampoo etc. where present (except toothpaste). There were a lot of browny candies everywhere and the whole place was decorated for christmas. Huge TVs also in place - one in the unit, another in common area. It was a bit cold inside but electronic battery fixed that issue.

Great stay!

This is a beautiful home in a really nice historic neighborhood. Our room and the common areas were beautifully appointed. We had room # 1 and it was almost perfect. It was so comfortable and has wonderful furnishings. Disappointed though that there was no coffee maker in this room (had to go to the kitchen which was fine), had only 1 washcloth and no where to put toiletries in the 1/2 bath. Would have loved to have comfy chairs on the front porch to sit and enjoy. The gazebo in the backyard was nice to relax in, but wasn't super clean. Overall we had a wonderful stay and wished we had more time to really enjoy it. Don't think twice, book it!

Beautiful historic neighborhood

We appreciated the prompt and professional communication throughout. The first floor room where we stayed was clean and tidy, with its own en suite toilet and shower. The bed was very comfortable, and the faux fireplace heater did a great job of heating up the whole room. The room was smaller than appears in the website pictures. The rest of the house was cluttered because of construction work being done but that’s temporary. We took advantage of and enjoyed the neat pamphlet available for a historic neighborhood walking tour. All around a wonderful stay on the edge of Japantown San Jose. Thank you!

This property is gorgeous. Staying here is an indulgence in grand luxury with a distinctive style. However, we do have a few complaints. Many amenities were missing. There was no hair dryer, and the clothes steamer box was in the closet, but it contained no steamer. Washcloths we're not provided. The Keurig coffee maker in the lobby barley worked, spitting out half a cup of tepid, pale coffee. The full sized refrigerator and freezer did not have real cream. Only powdered creamer was available. These are nit picks to be sure, but for the price, we were expecting the amenities to be as advertised.

I’ve stayed here a few times and it’s always fantastic! My son just started at SJSU and this is a fantastic property to stay at because it’s close and it’s cool and comfortable. I’ll be back for sure. I’m sorry my pictures aren’t great but it’s all I have. The place is beautiful.
