The owner was selling and there was no staff, no manager to help me as promised. There was only one woman there part time to clean. There was no breakfast. The owner gave me a larger room at the same rate to compensate. But, this really still was uncomfortable I was the only person in this large house for most of my stay. Yes, the only person. The Internet was intermittent and I really felt used. If the owner was selling she should have told me in advance. So, I was the very last guest in an otherwise lovely house.
Was greeted by friendly staff. House was very clean. Room was spacious and comfy. My bad luck, breakfast was not provided because the cook quit and no manager at the time of my visit. Did not meet owner but did talked to her on the phone..
Great place out of the way of the city. Close enough to the airport (took us about 20 minutes VERY early when there was no traffic). Beautiful crew of the city and nice clean room! More like a bed and breakfast. It's a very large house and each room is for a guest with common places shared.
We paid for hotel via expedia. B&B never resounded to one email, phone call or when we finally arrived no one even answered the door. We are basically getting same response from Expedia re: this matter. No one helped me while in Costa Rica at Expedia, I and to wait till we returned to the states. Expedia said we would get an answer within 24 hours and still nothing. I am reaching out again to expedia- which is difficult, and no response. All i want is a refund of monies paid for a room we never were able to stay in- and that was not by our choice. It would be nice if Expedia also paid the $ I had to pay for additional room cost the night of our check in.
This has been a horrible experience- that I hope no one else encounters. Expedia should really check if hotels are closed (which this one appears to be that way).

Quiet & Relaxing Stay
The hotel is close to San Jose and has numerous restaurants nearby. Rooms are clean with a comfortable bed and the breakfast is very good.
Beautiful B&B but with a few safety issues. Also, breakfast is same everyday, gal who serves it not overly friendly. Bed is placed under low hanging gable, only 5 foot clearance, can hit head if not very careful. Bathroom beautiful but enormous tub had 2, 6 inch stairs to climb to get in and out of without handrail and with marble floors could be an accident waiting to happen. Roberto was extremely friendly and helpful.
The B&B was very aesthetically pleasing and Roberto was wonderful.
A few things were a potential danger. First the ceiling in rooms were very low where gables were and 1 bed under this. Upon standing up from bed, hit head very hard!!!! Thought I might of had minor concussion. The other danger was the huge tub/shower looked nice but there were 2 steps about 10 inches high to get into tub and NO handrail plus flooring is all marble and slippery when wet. It was scary getting in and out.
My last complaint was that breakfast was just adequate and same both days. The gal who made breakfast seemed like she hated her job, very shy and didn't speak to us. I thought this was strange for a B&B.
Beautiful home with some problems.
We stayed one night for a stopover. The owner was warm and welcoming. The place is quaint and clean and beds are super comfortable. For the cost, you get way more than what you are paying for. --Please be aware that this is a Bed and Breakfast. No matter how quiet we tried to be, we felt like we were intruding. In the morning, aware of all of the sleeping tenants, we tiptoed and whispered as we cleared out and still woke up other guests. It's like walking around an old house -- it's difficult to move several pieces of luggage without making a sound.
My only issue was the noise at night. Neighborhood dogs barked all night long. We used our cell phones to generate white noise and this helped the situation.
This bed and breakfast was clean and very nice! The innkeeper was very helpful! The only thing that was wrong with our whole stay was there was house nearby with like 10 dogs. They barked ALL NIGHT LONG. The windows shut made no difference. They seemed to set off other dogs too and many times I awoke feeling I was in the 101 Dalmations movie by Disney and some kind of warning must have been going off! Seriously, this was an excellent B&B; it was just the constant dog barking (even with ear plugs I was awakened many times per night) that made it difficult.

Nice place to when in San Jose
Nice setting in hills accessible mainly by car. Welcoming staff. Comfortable room. Excellent breakfast made to order. N
Beautiful house well conditioned as a hotel. The best part was Roberto, the owner. He was so attemptive and incredibly helpful in making arrangements for my trip.
I stay in Casa Isabella for a week, due to a business trip. It was great, the hotel is in Escazu, a little away from San Jose. The view is great and the location is good for relax.
I recommend it. The price is accordingly and you can feel free to us Roberto for anything you need.
This B&B is in Escazu which is a suburb of San Jose. We chose it because the ratings were v.g. and we were looking for a safe area. If you are driving, you will need a GPS to get around. At first, we bused downtown to get our car and managed alright.
Roberto, the manager was excellent in providing assistance to organize our itinerary.
Casa Isabella is a wonderful vintage home in the hills surrounding San Jose. It is very clean and the atmosphere is charming. We stayed for 2 nights on the way in and one night on the way out. I would recommend that you ask Roberto to organize your transfer to his Casa, if you are not renting a car at the airport. The taxi drivers would have difficulty finding it.
The breakfast was good with several options.
We stayed in room 1 on the main floor and loved it. On the way out, we stayed in a room upstairs and it was also great. The one thing that people have to remember in a B&B is that it is not a hotel and the noise tends to carry more. We had an early flight the next morning and had to ask the people next door to go downstairs with their friends if the wanted to continue their talk past 10:30pm.
If you choose this B&B, you must try a local restaurant called, Las Posadas de la Bruhas. We had an enormous meal which was excellent (outstanding wings, excellent chicken strip salad and a wonderful appetizer).Best meal we had in Costa Rica. Ask Roberto for directions.

The owner was extremely helpful and even went out of his way to book a number of tours for us while there. I highly recommend this place. It has a great view of San Jose, Costa Rica.
We had a great time staying at Casa Isabella. Roberto was very helpful. He helped us book our zip lining adventure(canopy), order in some good Chinese food, and give us directions to the nearest hardware store. The rooms are very comfortable and breakfast was Delicious!!!! We also forgot our camera charger and battery and Roberto was quick in notifying us. Thank you Roberto!!! It was a pleasure staying at Casa Isabella.
People who stay at a B&B are generally looking for an experience that differentiates itself from a hotel stay. Roberto, the owner/manager, runs a fine establishment. Although you'll need to get cabs into the city, Escazu provides a much quieter setting and a respite from a busseling city that is a must see. If Roberto offers pick up from the airport, accept it. David, the driver, is a good guy. Also, and exceptionally helpful, is a cell phone that Roberto may offer you for the duration of the stay. Trust me, as we found out, better to have a cab company on speed dial that knows the B&B's location than not.
Charming hotel, clean and very nice rooms. Only downside is the location, far away from downtown and impossible for a taxi to find. Be prepared to use GPS to guide whoever is driving you!
