Beautiful and serene...
I was in Bariloche for the G-20 Energy Ministerial and stayed at La Sirenuse. The owners, Carlos and his wife, were extremely warm people and made me and my colleague feel at home.
The place itself was majestically set over the lake and my suite was very tastefully decorated and comfortable, with the most amazing view...

Disappointing experience
It is unfortunate that I am compelled to write this review. The property is in a gorgeous location. If not for the following incident, I would have been glad to rate the hotel positively and recommend to others.
Argentina recently waived the 21% VAT Tax on hotels for foreign travelers who pay with a foreign debit or credit card. However, the hotel owner refused to refund the 21% VAT Tax, which in our case, was a significant amount. Upon checkout, we were told they would cooperate with Expedia in facilitating the refund. Since then, they have been non-responsive to our attempts to directly communicate and simply told Expedia we were not eligible for a refund.
We stayed at several other hotels during our trip to Argentina. All of them were happy to facilitate refund of 21% VAT Tax, which was processed immediately.

Peaceful and scenic.
Service was warm, knowledgeable, and professional. The location was ideal for enjoying this area. The views of the lake were unbeatable. The breakfasts were excellent.

Beautiful location, excellent hosts
Our room overlooking the lake and mountains was beautiful. Carlos and Maria were wonderful hosts and had excellent advice about the area. Carlos should write a book! His insights were wonderful. We had a wonderful stay and would not hesitate to return.

The art of hospitality
After a drive of 700km we arrived at La Sirenuse, and the owner Carlos received us with open arms. He made us feel at home instantly. We had a beautiful room with jacuzzi, a balcony and a wide view over the lake. Two fine Italian cuisine restaurants at walking distance. And Puerto Pañuelo at just 1km, with beatiful hiking tracks through the woods. Carlos served a fresh and delicious breakfast. We left the resort thinking when we would be able to come back!
