"This motel is just outstanding. The retro vibe and laid back feeling is wonderful. The inn keeper is attentive to guests and the on site staff happy and kind. You rarely find a 50 plus year old property that is modern , spacious, pet accommodating and priced so moderately. You can walk to the historical light house which is #1 National Park in the Outer Banks. The rooms have all been remodeled and offer tons of counter space- modern showers- all tiles and spotless housekeeping. The beds comfortable and views out the back window of a sand dune just added to the surprise of this motel. The Swell needs to be recognized for its uniqueness- cleanliness and location. 10-10! "

"The host was very involved and was in contact quite a bit. They came and took the trash cans out and back up without anyone noticing. We loved that it was dog friendly but didn’t have the smell or hair from other animals. Great stay overall"

"Our group of 8 (and our pup) enjoyed the house and its multiple communal spaces, easy walk to the beach, clean hot tub and heated pool (happy we paid for this!) The host was very communicative and helpful - we had a few cleanliness issues upon arrival but they were quick to respond and resolve the issues. The kitchen was stocked with empty utensils and appliances to get us through the weekend, and the 2 fridges and 2 dishwashers were helpful for a big group. Overall very happy with our stay!"

"The house was clean and comfortable. It was by far the nicest house we’ve stayed in at the Outer Banks. It is modern and updated. The pool area was great on a day that the wind was too much at the beach. We love Waterman’s Restaurant which is very close. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a good seafood dinner. It was just my husband, myself and our dog but the house would be wonderful for an entire family and quests. We spent mornings on the top deck watching the sun come up. It never gets old. At night we sat outside looking at the moon and stars. We love the tri-villages area."

"Great location, enjoyed the house all around. Few minor issues with pool not getting warm till Thursday for swimming. General maintenance on outside cut grass trim trees and bushes. The cleaners did t do a very gd job of sweeping and putting fresh rolls toilet paper and paper towels out like was described as starter pack. But Wld definitely stay there again. My wife is handicapped and I have bad knees so the elevator was a God send. The owner was really nice and helpful and courteous. We had an incredible time and enjoyed every min. Thank you."

"This home is exactly as described. Clean, nicely decorated and has everything you can think of. Kitchen was well equipped, back deck sunset views are amazing, great location, and owners were responsive. Would definitely stay again!"
