Pros: A hotel with old world charm & ambience. The room was lovely with a comfy bed & a gorgeous antique wardrobe. Spacious bathroom compared to other places we’ve stayed in Argentina. We had a nice view of the San Francisco Cathedral from the Romeo & Juliet balcony. Cons: Being so close to Plaza 9 de Julio, it was a bit noisy at night. The included breakfast was pretty average.

Centrally located, victorian charm, a bit outdated
The central location could not have been better. The building is eclectic with parlors scattered around and has a particular old-timey charm. It felt a bit like an old victorian boarding house (which it probably was). It was nice to have the kids in their own (adjoining) room. There was a leak in the sink which made a bit of a lake out of the bathroom floor overnight, but we were only there one night so it didn't affect us too much. A/C worked great which made my husband especially happy.

Not bad...
Perfect location. Restaurants bars and tourism offices just 1 min walking distance. Hotel is very old historical building and kept at good shape. Even I got the best room in the hotel the bathroom was terrible. So narrow, and very tight shower place... My payment selection was "pay at the hotel with local currency"...It was not a good choice. They charge me much more than the price shown on hotel.com pages. I was forced to use the credit card not to pay more but my choice was spend all my left over Argentinian Pesos. Since I did not accept to pay by credit card I am charged 21% more in cash... Be carefull if you pick Pay At The Hotel option....

Dear Mr. Orhan: We must explain that reservations that are processed by Hotels.com or similar portals, indicate that they do not include local taxes. In our country a resolution is in force to favor foreign tourism and is that no tax is charged (VAT) if the guest pays by international card and presents passport. This measure is only authorized by tax agencies for credit card payments. If the guest pays in cash it is not appropriate to apply the resolution, so you must pay the tax. In addition Hotels.com uses a quotation of foreign currencies taken from an unofficial consultant. Hotels use the official quotation. Hotels.com has been asked many times to explain clearly, because of your comment we will insist more vehemently. We appreciate your kind comment, Sincerely

Right in the centre
The hotel public areas do look like an old colonial home. The breakfast is very good served with choices. The rooms are old but supply everything they promise - AC, firm beds, desk area and the shower worked well with lots of hot water. With a bunch of money invested, this could be an upscale boutique hotel.

The location is excellent, right on the central plaza. Staff was accommodating to a very late check in and always patient with our attempts to speak Spanish.

A great stay in the centre of beautiful Salta
Great little hotel in the absolute centre is Salta. Staff went out of their way to be helpful. The hotel itself is historic and a little tired but that adds to the charm. Absolutely recommended

enjoyable stay at the Colonial in salta
I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel. the location is superb , right on the main square of Salta. the rooms are very nice with a cute little balcony facing the street. I liked the decor of the hotel very old art-deco and charming. the staff was very nice and helpful. its a great deal for a comfortable stay and a very reasonable price.

perfect hotel for Salta
the location couldn't be better. we had 2 balconies looking right into the main square. the room was beautiful. service was very good. decent breakfast in the morning. would highly recommend this place!

great location need to update plumbing
Great location as on the square . A little noisy but worth it as so easy to visit museums and find plenty of restaurants. Staff were helpful and organised us an extra night . Shower wasted so much water as it took 20minutes to get hot water . (2 mornings it never got hot)

Nice hotel, right in the middle of town.
Everything is at your doorstep from the Colonial. Such a great central location. Hotel itself is a little dated, but I bypass that due to the friendliness of staff, decent breakfasts & ease of access to everything in Salta. Museums, restaurants, the Plaza & tour operators all at your doorstep. Would definitely stay there again !

Nice downtown hotel close to everything.
This hotel is in a great downtown location. It is very comfortable and the staff is wonderful. It's name befits the architecture, the furnishings and ambiance, i.e., it is charmingly old-style. Breakfast is extended continental buffet style. Our room was nice and quiet as it was located away from the main plaza.

Staff delightful and position on the square is great, but the hotel is in need of an update. Air Con didn't work properly and general impression was that fixtures and fittings were past tbeir sell by date.

Great hotel for slow vacation
It is such a historic hotel and located right at the plaza where most of actions happening. It is old building so the room is small and evrything is a bit awkward. But! We enjoyed it so much. It made us feel like we were back in 1940s! Breakfast was good. Room was clean enough for us to stay comfortably. The old hotel with great character!

Excelente hotel, belas instalações num casario antigo muito bem conservado. O tamanho do quarto era bom, com cama, travesseiros, lençóis e toalhas macios. Café da manhã excelente, com sucos naturais de pomelo, limão e laranja. Localização ótima, junto à praça 9 de julio. Adorei a estadia!

The hotel is quite charming and well-kept. The staff is really wonderful and helpful in every respect. The location right in the center of Salta is perfect. The only thing that I did not find that great was the breakfast.

We were welcomed bij the hotel host. Very nice reception. Car could be parked in a public parking 25 meters down the square (included in the room price). Breakfast was ok.

Muy buena opción para salta
Hotel muy bien ubicado. La habitación amplia y cómoda. Bien conservado. Podrían adelantar un poco el horario del desayuno, ya que las excursiones salen muy temprano y a veces no da tiempo a desayunar.

Excellent location. Good value for the price you pay. Frontdesk very friendly and eager to help. Room was in good condition, not luxurious, but was clean and has everything you need. Breakfast was very good. Overall a very nice hotel if you’re planning to stay in Salta for a few days and just use it for sleeping and breakfast.
