Their caboose was one of the coolest stays I've experienced. I had some trouble finding the location, but the staff (Tracy) was really helpful and drove with me to the spot. They gave me a gift card for a cafe to have breakfast in, which I thought was really neat! Overall, great staff and cozy place.
This place is terrific, and I feel like an idiot leaving reviews for it. I don't want anyone else to know about the place, but they treated me so well that Id feel like a jerk if I didn't give these folks the kudos they deserve. Fantastic. Can't wait to come back!
This was a fun, unique overnight site. The caboose was roomier than expected and very comfortable. It's design and decor were on point in keeping with a train line theme. Although quite compact, the kitchenette was well stocked. Our host had left gift cards for a breakfast site, car wash and access to the country club. The most memorable part, you ask? Well, the night we stayed a major thunderstorm came through with 80–100-mile winds. The train is located down 1/4-mile gravel lane - lined with trees. During the storm we wondered if there would be any downed trees blocking the lane. And yes, there was. LOTS of small branches that we could move but 1 major tree across the lane. I called our host and when she called back, I could hear the sound of a chain saw. A staff member had remembered there were guests, so he thought he would check out the lane - and yes, time for the chain saw. It only took about 30 minutes for him to get the lane cleared and we were on our way. Much of the town had suffered damage with parts still without electricity. BTW, the breakfast stop didn't have electricity - so on down the road we went.
Definitely worth the stay!
It's really the best night in town for one or maybe two. You won't get peace like that in 67401. Just me, bunnies, and a bunch of fireflies. Then I get to sleep in a well outfitted caboose. Early mornings are spectacular, and it's hard to make yourself pack up and get out.
Five stars. Well, well earned.
