This property is terrific. I saw some negative reviews and can’t believe that they were talking about the same property. Room was excellent and clean. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Parking was the most convenient that we encountered during our entire trip in Italy.

Not a good value for the price.

Not a good value compared to other European hotels, may be because you don’t have lots of choices in Salerno. Bed is of the foam type, not comfortable. Shower is half enclosed, you have to be careful not to get water everywhere. The toilet leaks water and makes noice.

Great Hotel

This hotel is a great find. The staff are all lovely, the breakfast is nice and the rooms are very good. We had 3 rooms and not a problem with any of them. The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest Metro station which runs from the main train station to the football stadium, you can buy tickets outside any stop or at a post office. The other big attraction is Pizzeria Salernitana, the local restaurant around the corner. You don’t need to eat anywhere else, it is a proper Italian restaurant that caters for the locals, the food, value and service is the best I’ve experienced in Italy. The owner went out of his way to be helpful and even made our Dad a meal not on the menu as he had the ingredients and it was Dads favourite growing up in Salerno.

Hotel with lots of noise - not for me

I asked for a hotel room that is quiet, high up and specifically asked for a room not over the restaurant. Despite the specific request they still decided to give me the room on the first floor straight over the restaurant with constant noise from chairs and tables being moved around. The room doors slam shut and can be heard for all rooms around you. The hotel is not quiet and does not have sound proof rooms. Noisy! I was also told the other rooms had even more noise from some gate. The bedsheets kept coming off (too small for the bed) and crumpled up. The bathroom was completely soaked after a shower. The pool was closed even though it was full of water. Kids very disappointed. Breakfast was not particularly good and very limited dining menu, albeit reasonably priced. The area around the hotel is strange and the restaurants that appear on Google maps etc are boarded up. On the positive, rooms were good size, easy to drive to hotel and ample parking. Would I return? No certainly not.

Better next time

We were greeted by one friendly female staff member, and the rest of the staff were arrogant and unhelpful. The hotel's fitness center was not a fitness center but a room with one machine that didn't work. There was also a treadmill and a bike that took turns not working. The breakfast was extremely boring with not a single vegetable. You also had to pay for a boiled egg - I've never experienced that before. We usually enjoy staying at Novotel hotels around the world, but this was absolutely the last time.

Hotel bom… Poderia melhorar? Sim! Acho q tinha q ter carregador veicular. O pessoal acabou levando um cálice que havia comprado - acredito que achando que era do hotel… Local do hotel acho importante estar de carro, pois não é muito perto de nada. Enfim, hotel honesto, especialmente como Hotel de passagem.

We did not realise the season didn’t start till 1st June so was very limited on meals and no pool. Was a bus ride from the town and we only found one restaurant open locally. Hotel was clean and comfortable.

The bed we booked was King size and the reception gave us a dingy room with a double bed and sofa. We complained and she told us that in Italy they was a king size bed. By then we had been in Italy for a week .. we always had a king size bed do we know what we were talking about. We will never say at Novotel again!!!
