Quite and off the beaten path.
Antonio was awesome, I rented a scooter for a few days and was able to park in the courtyard, I asked for his suggestions for pizza and he WhatsApp'd me enough to keep me full for the entire week.. such a welcoming person, I look forward to a return

Amazing value for cost: the balcony and view were beautiful, very comfortable bedroom with lots of space, and clean bathroom with all the amenities you need. Breakfast was really good, as well. Overall, a fantastic experience-- my favourite part of Salerno was staying here :)

Good location but not so great B&B
I booked Casa Maria B&B after seeing the highly rated reviews.The price is good, and it's located is in a nice area 20 mins walk from the train station, and the owner was friendly. The first night the hot water was not working, barely a trickle of cold water in the shower. The owner did come to look straight away, and he said it would work eventually. It didn't, so the first night I had a cold shower. He did get it fixed on the Monday. Also the Internet connection was slow and intermittent. On check-in the owner said he couldn't do anything until an 'expert' would fix it on the Monday. I guess that never happened, as it remained slow the rest of the stay. The two sofa beds were quite uncomfortable, and the apartment was in need of an update. The photos on the website are misleading (I guess the rooms in the photos were somewhere else). If you're on a tight budget, this might be an OK option, but there are better places to stay.

Cute B&B, but beware the stairs
Cute boutique B&B on top of an old buiding in old town. The place has a beautiful terrace with awesome views. The room was nice and comfortable, breakfast was good with a home made feel. However, please note that to get to the B&B you have to go up 4 flights of stairs, so if you have heavy luggage or mobility issues, you may want to stay away. The room was also on the fist floor of the fourth floor, so it's basically another flight of stairs. Also, the place started being noisy early in the morning, so we couldn't really sleep after 6:30. Anyway, good value for the money, fantastic views in a very nice Italian town with the classic southern Italy feel.

I made a mistake in booking this accommodation. However, it was my mistake and no real reflection on Casa Maria. This is 'shared accommodation' in the truest sense, the deluxe Suite is directly above the communal area where the family and any guests sit, chat and watch television. You can hear every word and so, if you do not want to engage, this feels somewhat intrusive... The accommodation is spotlessly clean and the welcome could not have been warmer. However, this was a honeymoon and there is no real sense of privacy in this accommodation. There are (in the region) of 80 x stairs up to the apartment - do not book if you have mobility problems ! We only stayed one night at Casa Maria. We could not have been made more welcome and Maria and her son fully understood when we checked out for a hotel. This booking was my mistake, but I would suggest this is not the place for a romantic trip. If you enjoy sociable, communal breakfasts and a sense of 'community' during your stay - do not hesitate !

Really nice place, booked the balcony sea view room and it was great. Beautiful little spot in the heart of the old town and a short stroll to the new one. Views are incredible and Maria is a delight. A little tricky to find but our GPS was on the fritz.

I really loved my stay at Casa Maria. It is sparking clean. My room was bright and fresh with a lovely view over a square and up to the castle. There's a lovely outdoor terrace(s) with views to the sea. The house is beside a small square that comes alive in the evenings and i had great food in a restaurant on that square. my experience at Casa Maria was excellent from booking right through to leaving. Also, the hostess Maria makes beautiful large croissants fresh for breakfast so on opening the door of my room in the mornings i could get the lovely smell of freshly made croissants :) Maria makes coffee or whatever you like to drink, and there are fruit juices etc too. Finally, the hosts, Maria and her son Antonio are genuinely friendly, lovely people who were extremely helpful, welcoming and friendly and full of advice and information. I hope to return to Salerno again in the future and would definitely stay at Casa Maria again. Lastly, there are a lot of steps up the internal staircase to the house - this might be a problem for those with mobility problems but for me it was a good way to feel better after consuming so much delicious pizza and wine! Casa Maria: a comfortable Campania 'base camp'
A chilled and 'family-feel' zone. On arrival Antonio gave us a helpful and informative briefing...recommendations of well-priced, authentic local restaurants, walks to Castillo Arechi via the gardens of Minerva and thence across the ridge to the monastery. Casa Maria is a fantastic and accessible gateway to the Amalfi coastal road as well as the the Campania region...we'd definitely base ourselves here again. Maria and Antonio are helpful, accommodating-we felt genuinely welcomed...Grazie mille xxx

Lovely stay with great hosts
Me and my son had a lovely stay at Casa Maria for 4 nights. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Location and the space was perfect for us. Very close to the sea and 20 min walk from the main station, what we didn't mind at all. We had nice and sweet breakfast every morning. Some nights maybe for a little bit noisy for us but we could come back to the flat late afternoon and have a power nap before going out again. Over all very nice place with lovely people, would definitely stay at casa Maria again! :) thank you!

Family-run apartment building (run by 2 very caring people, Maria and her son) so it was a little difficult to find. There’s no hotel sign - just a small label by the door buzzer. Other than that, the place was great: spacious, full kitchen in my room, good value- very affordable, great location in the historic center just a couple blocks from the main road. They provided maps, tourist information, and recommendations about what to see and do. I enjoyed my stay.

We are having a wonderful time in Casa Maria as if we were at home! Maria and Antonio take great care of everyone who staying there, with free breakfast, also possible to arrange a real home cooking Italian meal with the host while staying. When I encountered problems with delay of my luggage, the host takes care for me by contacting the airline and solve the problem for me so my day out will not be disrupted. My room with terrace, and a great 360’view, the distance to every train, bus stations, ferries are all within walking distance. Everything adds up to a true great 5 stars homestay!

72 VERY STEEP steps to the apartment (yes, we counted them). Antonio and his mother were very hospitable. The room was a bit cool (even for late-March). Part of the reason we chose this B&B was due to the picture; it is Antonio’s home’s balcony, not any apartment. All windows face close neighboring walls. He was very helpful pointing out Salerno points of interest. Centrally-located.

I really like the location of the property. It gave me a unique oportunity to stay in a very old town house. The flat was too noisy for me. From the early morning a lot of loud steps on the internal staircase. It's two floor flat. In the evning very loud TV. I had to ask to turn it a bit down. For the first time ever I had to share bathmat with other visitors! Uh...disgusting!

Salerno and Casa de María are amazing!
It was an amazing experience. The hosts are super nice and the house is a walking distance from everything: sea, pizza place (the best pizza ever), walking street, mountains, station. Maria's croissants are unbelievable! The room had an AC so we were warm and cozy! Thank you guys so much for this awesome experience. Complications: Maria doesn't speak English but her son explains everything and translates and he is super nice. It would be nice if guests had a kettle or access to the kitchen coz it is not convinient to ask the hosts to boil water for you even thou they have no problem with that. The apparentment is on the 4th floor and the stairs are super narrow so if you have luggage, u need to be prepared to carry it all the way up. We totally recommend this place!

Scenic Salerno penthouse
I came to Salerno to see Luci d’Artista, the holiday lights, as a detour on the way to Pompeii. Train connections are very convenient. Antonio gave me so many helpful suggestions. I wished I’d been able to stay longer to explore more—music conservatory, historic medical school with herb garden. My room was gorgeous, with a great bed and a panoramic view from the balcony over the city. My only caution is to be aware of the flights of stairs. The reception is on the 4th floor and rooms are one more flight up. This does mean the rooms have a great view, high above the city, and it’s quiet too. Grazie to Antonio and Maria for the warm welcome to your lovely hometown.

The place was great. Antonio and his mom were very friendly. He gave me a map of the town and told me all the best places to see in Salerno. The room was very clean and the view is amazing. Friendly welcoming B&B in Salerno historic centre
Casa Maria is a great little B&B right near the historic centre of Salerno. Maria and her son Antonio are really warm and friendly and you feel very welcome from the moment you arrive. Antonio speaks great English and when we arrived he gave us a good run down of all the things we could see (including the recently installed light displays throughout the city) & recommendations for food. The B&B has a nice terrace and plenty of natural light so it's a very nice place to stay.

Wonderful place to stay & great hosts!
The room and private bathroom were really nice--very spacious and modern, and I had a gorgeous view from my room. The hosts, Antonio and his mom, are so sweet and they helped me a lot when I lost my phone while touring. Breakfast was great as well, and it was really pleasant meeting people and enjoying the view in the morning. The ferries to Positano, Amalfi, and a bunch of other places are extremely close and affordable. There is a beach very close to the B&B as well, and the B&B is also walking distance from the train station. Antonio helps a lot with providing ferry schedules, a map of the city, and any recommendations. I was a solo traveler and felt very safe in both the B&B and Salerno in general. Worth a visit!

Cozy studio room- Welcoming host!
We had a great time visiting Salerno this summer! Antonio was as good a host as they come! We stayed in the studio room and I have the following feedback! Overall we enjoyed our stay and felt the price was right for such a stay. PROS: Antonio was available for any questions/concerns and the perfect host! WIFI!!! Stove/pans/fridge all available for use if needed. SOFA bed and cot were options for additional guests. Breakfast - continental breakfast and coffee was provided in Antonio and Maria's apartment. They were very welcoming and the croissants were delicious! Location was great- steps away from great shopping, food and gelato and a less than 5 minute taxi ride to the Ferry and train station which made visits to the Amalfi coast and surrounding areas a breeze! CONS: no elevator - climbing stairs with suitcase can be tough, but it was manageable. shower was VERY small. no air conditioner, though fans were provided. This isn't a big deal in the fall/winter, but in the summer it can get hot! bed mattress was hard.

Casa Maria - feels like home
The B&B is about 20 minutes walk from the train station (without luggage). The rooms are spacious and very pleasant and there is a terrace with beautiful views. Antonio is very helpful and welcoming. He has a great knowledge about the area and surrounding towns like Positano, Amalfi and Ravello and gives excellent advice about what to see.

Like staying with long lost family
Antonio treats his guests like long lost family. For a place to stay on the Amalfi coast without spending a lot, Casa Maria can’t be beat. Centrally located, fantastic recommendations as to what to do and where to eat, kind and helpful exceedingly helpful. Be careful if you have problems climbing stairs to get to your room. The apartment was well stocked, very clean and was a great home base from which to explore the Amalfi coast.

The people that run it were friendly and accommodating. Building is old, but the rooms are renovated inside, though it would be nice to have at least a fan in the bedroom (air conditioning unit in kitchen/living area). 4th floor walk-up, would be a lot nicer if/when they end up adding an elevator as they are considering for next year.

Book Casa Maria! You’ll Love It
Casa Maria was a perfect bed&breakfast! Antonio and his mom Maria were so nice and helpful. Antonio told us all about Salerno and possible things to do. Our room had access to the rooftop patio, ac and a nice bathroom. It was private and quiet. Breakfast was great. Coffee (as much as you want), croissants, preserves, cheese and fruit. We walked to and from the train station (20-25mins) and took Italo’s fast train (300km) to/from Rome. It was so easy. The historic part of Salerno was so beautiful and fun. Lots of shops, restaurants and sites. We walked to the beach one day and spent the day there on rented chairs. We went to the market beforehand and had a picnic (bread, cheese, prosciutto and olives-yum) on the beach. We loved our time at Casa Maria and plan to return!!!

perfect location and host
Casa Maria is located in the middle of the old part of Salerno. It is perfect for getting everywhere, while being in the more interesting part of Salerno. The views are really amazing. Maria and Antonio are wonderful hosts and take great care to make your stay enjoyable.

Great location, friendly hosts.
Casa Maria exceeded our expectations. + The location was perfect. It was a 20min walk from the train station and close to shopping and food. + Salerno is not as touristy as the other major spots on the Amalfi coast which allows you to have a more "authentic" experience. You can catch a spectacular ferry ride from Salerno to Amalfi, Positano, etc. + Antonio and Maria are extremely friendly. Antonio gave us great recommendations for food and what to see/do in Salerno. He also recommended great spots on the Amalfi Coast. Antonio speaks English. + The rooms are clean and very bright. We were at the top of the stairs which had heaps of natural light and beautiful views. + Breakfast every morning = fresh croissants, different breads, spreads, cheese, juices and coffee. I definitely recommend staying here. It's great value and a great experience. One thing of note: there are about 4 flights of stairs, no elevator. I think this is fine, it's helps digest all the pizza. If you're coming to Italy you should already know you'll be climbing steps and walking up hills :) Grazie Casa Maria!

This a Mother and Son B&B the son Antonio speaks very good English and is very helpful! The room was modern with nice views of the neighborhood, mountain and sea. The only downside is u have a problem with stairs this not your place, 88 stairs! It is conveniently located to many restaurants, old town and a nice seaside walk😁👍🇮🇹🍷

Wonderful stay
The hosts were absolutely lovely- nice & personable and truly helped make our experience great by reccomendating local restaraunts and sights, and answering all the questions we had, despite the language barrier. The room is spacious and clean, and the rooftop view of the city is breathtaking. I hope to come back here & stay with them again some day!

Excellent Choice for Salerno
Excellent B & B in the old part of Salerno. Only concern was finding it and the 4 flights of stairs to reach the establishment. Ounce inside as our room was one more flight up, for seniors quite a task. Owners were very helpful.

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Maria
This was our first visit to Italy and i picked Salerno as our initial stop for specific reasons. It is a walkable small city, on a rail line and near other places of interest. Salerno was all that and was made even better by our stay at Casa Maria. Our room was bright, clean and comfortable with a nice terrace just off the bedroom. Antonio and Maria were welcoming and informative helping us to decide where we wanted to go and what we wanted to do. The only reason I scored the Comfort rating lower then the others was because there are quite a few stairs to climb to get to the BnB and, in our room, the ceiling was a little low in places requiring a tall person to stoop over a lot. Still, if you can manage the stair climb, I wouldn't let the low ceiling dissuade you from staying at Casa Maria. We have moved onto our next destination and are already fondly looking back at how comfortable we were there.

Great Hosts and View
Maria and Antonio are very friendly. Antonio speaks good English and is good to rely on for travel and meal recommendations. Our room was sea view and was absolutely beautiful with a large patio. The room looked recently renovated and was extremely clean. Maria's fresh baked morning croissants are awesome. 20 minute walk or $10 can ride from the train staion and the harbour. Great place, great stay. Wish we had more time!

Great staff, Antonio was very helpful and showed us some great places to visit and eat. If you are arriving by car parking is 20€ per day and is very far from the B &B.

Salerno Adventure
Had a really great stay in Casa Maria! Lovely spacious room, very good shower, lovely rooftop balcony with a Sea View. I got to borrow an adapter for my phone for the entire stay and even my bed was made. Even though the place was a bit hard to recognize from the outside and 4th floor might be bit challenging with luggage, the location is ideal and the staff very welcoming.

Great Location, Great Accommodations.
Casa Maria was an excellent choice for Salerno! It is about a mile from the train station, so a bit of bumping luggage along cobbled streets, but its in a wonderful part of town, right off the main walking street but far enough back that we didn't hear any noise from the restaurants or bars. The hosts were VERY welcoming and accommodating even when another friend joined us last minute, they made sure we had enough blankets and towels for the extra bed. Its not a luxury hotel by any means, but a very cute studio loft, with comfortable beds, dark shutters, and a shower with excellent water pressure.

Great place to stay
Antonio was really helpful with his tips and excursion directions. Maria produced great coffee to accompany breakfast. They were great hosts and made us feel really welcome. The view from terrace is great! The location is just into the old town, so going one way, you can be in the modern city and the other way you can get lost in the tiny streets and alleys of old town. Our suite consisted of a king size bed at one end of the room, a sofa (think it was a sofa bed) in the centre, and the kitchen and dining at the other end. The bathroom had a small shower stall by North American standards.

We loved Casa Maria & Solerno! Our hosts Maria & Antonio we're so welcoming & friendly. They made us feel very much at home! Antonio went out of his way to help us make plans for excursions & was so knowledgeable about the Solerno area & other areas in Italy we were travelling to. Antonio suggested good restaurants & sites to see in Solerno.
