Barbados is full of kind and generous people but nothing compared to Engrid and her family! Engrid’s sister met us at the airport with a car we wanted/needed to rent to tour around the island. Sister 1 (I’ll call her sister #1 since she was the first one we met) was a joy to ride out to the eco lodge with. She let me drive (I’m from the states so driving on the left was a new experience for me and she handled it with grace! My husband less so, haha). And led me from the back seat with great conversation and tips on where to go and what to see. When we arrive at the eco lodge, Engrid was there with open arms and food ready for us to eat for dinner. We had a long day with flight delay and arrived later than expected into Barbados so having dinner mostly ready was a serious treat! We were pleasantly surprised and overjoyed to have everything ready to eat except the fresh and seasoned fish. Engrid has communicated with us before hand and asked what we liked to eat and she didn’t disappoint. Fresh and local veggies, fruit and breads. She had local fish that lasted us the 4 days we were there and local homegrown eggs! Food to feed the soul! The communication between us was fabulous and nothing less than spectacular.
My husband got a nasty chest cold the day after we got there and we ended up spending a whole day at the eco lodge. I didn’t mind a bit. The seclusion, the quietness, and the peacefulness was just what we seek in a vacation. I love to workout on my own if I have to while traveling and the yard was perfect for it.
We went to one east coast beach and into Speightstown one day as well. All very great. The seclusion of the eco lodge is what we really wanted and didn’t seek the hustle and bustle of the west coast. If you are seeking night life, restaurants and more lively entertainment then this isn’t for you. If you’re wanting peace, quiet and tranquility then this IS for you.
We loved it! I’d do it again, Engrid is amazing!
