About this property
Oceanfront home on 6 acres with multi-level deck & spectacular view
Experience the Midcoast Maine of yesteryear at this private coastal cottage, beautifully situated on six oceanfront acres in Rockport. Although the water is inaccessible down this steep and rocky shoreline, it's a position that grants you gorgeous views of Indian Island Lighthouse, the mouth of Rockport Harbor, and pristine Penobscot Bay.
This three-story home sits right off Route 1, with parking at the top of the hill and a pathway leading down to the entrance (please note this position is not suitable for guests with mobility issues). You'll have six acres of woods and 600 feet of oceanfront all to yourself, making it the perfect place to escape, relax, and gaze up at the Milky Way on crystal-clear nights. To head into town, choose between darling Rockport (two miles), Camden (three miles), and Rockland (five miles) close by.
Full of little quirks and a certain rustic charm, this home promises a classic Maine experience. Whether you're inside the house or outside on the multi-level deck, the oceanfront view seems to follow you at every turn.
Enjoy a well-equipped kitchen, windowside dining areas, and a gas grill outside to accent your summer meals. There are three bedrooms, including a primary suite, and a basement den which is accessible only via a set of outdoor stairs. Smart TVs, high-speed WiFi, and a private washer/dryer are provided as well.

Beautiful seaside cottage
This seaside cottage is the best place to enjoy quietness and peacefulness from the busyness of our lives. Our family enjoyed being together playing cards, grilling out, cooking together, and enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the Maine coast. Would highly recommend this place.

What a stay!
We LOVED our time at the Cottage on the Coast. The house was incredible and the kids wanted to stay in more than they wanted to go out. Time spent out of the deck looking over the ocean will be remembered forever.

Many positives but a few security issues
Proximity to lake, plenty of towels and hot water. Quiet location and an occasional loon.
The property and view are stunning. We enjoyed the serene atmosphere. Very clean and full of extras. The parking and walk down is steep and should be advertised a bit better. Had we any issues physically, it would have been a challenge.

Lovely Cottage Retreat
The cottage on the coast was just lovely! The views from the deck and sunroom took our breath away. The cottage was cozy and comfortable, with everything that we needed for a break from the busy world. We left only to indulge in lobster, sailing, and the charming nearby towns. We highly recommend!

Perfection
I wish the rating system went to eleven because the Cottage on the Coast is perfection. The house was spotlessly clean, well-furnished, and extremely comfortable. The view is amazing and the location spectacular. Truly an amazing place and we’ll definitely be back!
The home is incredible. It is a historic coastal cabin that has been renovated beautifully. It is repleat with beautiful furnishings, art work, a high end kitchen, darling touches such as a cat and little mice on the baseboards. It was well-stocked and had evwryrhing we needed. It has three decks and windows galoreoverlooking the water and trees

August in Maine
We absolutely loved this adorable home. Beautiful views of the water, the night sky, and the forest. Reasonably close to dozens of beautiful towns and beaches. Across the street from a farm fresh stand. What more could you ask for? Even had AC and a well appointed kitchen.

Pristine and Picturesque
This restored cottage is beautiful and very clean. The kitchen is well stocked with the utensils you need for home cooked/grilled meals (cause you will likely want to stick around). The views from the large windows are like nothing else. Imagine waking up to a view of a lighthouse on an island. The grounds around the cottage are beautiful and ready to be explored! We spent 4 nights with a 7 and 1 year old. We had such a wonderful time as a family in this gorgeous home and we enjoyed all of the love and details put into it. We hope to be back!
Spectacular home with high-end wood furnishings and floors throughout, even a floor compass! Imagination, flair and whimsy in this beautifully designed home provided a special perch to watch sailboats, lobster boats etc drift by on Penobscot Bay. Even a lighthouse. Central location to all things. Owners suggested eateries were spot on!! Highly recommend with one word of caution: The access from parking area is very steep. Heed the warning re:mobility.

Simply gorgeous cabin on a magnificent lake
We loved the quiet, the privacy, the sound of the Loons, and the stunning views of the lake. We couldn't quite see the sunset at this time of year, but if you hop in the kayak and go about 50 yards, you get a great view! I paddled for a couple of hours up the lake and there was a lot of natural beauty, unlike other more developed lakes. Everything was as mentioned in the listing. It was clean, well stocked with firewood, charcoal, everything but food and beach towels (at least I didn't see any). There are 2 kayaks (one is a tandem) and a paddle board. The master bed is extremely firm so if you have a queen pad, you might want to bring it. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Lovely view but a few caveats
The peace and quiet and views from this house are amazing. You pay for oceanfront property, however, there is no access to the water because of the thick and unrelenting brush that prohibits your access. The upstairs king bedroom is wonderful, however the double bed on the main floor is only big enough to sleep one person comfortably or 2 small children. The downstairs bedroom "twin" beds are smaller than normal twin beds and one of the beds is just a 3-4 inch sleeping pad not a proper mattress, narrow and very uncomfortable. lt would be fine for 2 small children to sleep in the basement bedroom, but not adequate for 2 adults to sleep comfortably.
That being said, the views are amazing, the kitchen is well equipped and the place is squeaky clean. Location convenient to Rockford, Camden and Rockland. Beautiful area and well worth a visit!
