"Had a great stay here during a weekend of hiking. The cabin is incredibly nice inside and out. The hot tub was clutch after the hikes. Friend especially loved the bathroom amenities (heated floor, heated towel rack). The front deck is beautiful especially in the morning with a bit of running water nearby, hummingbirds hovering, and across the fence cows grazing. The common areas are definitely showing their age and it's a shame an investment hasn't been made in returning this hotel to its grander days. "This hotel, originally named the Stonewall Jackson, is over 100 years old, but has aged reasonably well. The rooms are small by modern standards (at least those with ony 1 bed), but adequate. The updated bath in our room was very nice, with a better-than-average shower. A nice breakfast buffet is available for purchase, currently at a price of $15 per person, and restaurants for lunch and dinner are within easy walking distance, The hotel is attached to a municipal parking garage with a daily fee mid-week, but it's free on weekends. We did find the cost of the room to be far more than expected in this small Shenandoah Valley town ($264 with tax), but the desk clerk advised us that it's a typical summer tourist-season rate for the area. Overall, the hotel is fine and I'm glad we stayed there, but I probably wouldn't choose it for a return visit in the high season."
