About this property
Private Romantic Bungalow for Artists & Writers, 7 Mins to Downtown Richmond,
Your own private 1-bedroom bungalow mindfully appointed with everything you will need for a long or extended stay in Richmond, VA (or for locals, RVA).
The Lewis House is tucked away behind your host's main house, a little red cottage that has been built entirely out of reclaimed material from RVA's famous local architectural salvage operation, Caravati's. The project was started by the home's original owner, an avid antique collector, and completed in 2024 by your hosts.
Whether you're visiting Richmond for a weekend or looking for a quiet getaway to work on your special project, the Lewis House is ready for you and up to (1) additional guest. Just 7 minutes from the downtown business center, 5 minutes from Cary Town shopping, and 2 minutes from the Forest Hills shops, the Lewis House is close to everything while feeling worlds away from the bustle of the city.
A cobbled footpath leads from your street parking (we're a tiny cul-de-sac, you'll always be able to park out front) to the cottage. The front porch is perfect for sitting with it's rockers and small table for drinks.
Inside, the combination bedroom and sitting room are highlighted by the enormous reclaimed farmhouse windows. A queen memory-foam mattress is set high, with storage draws under the frame, one for each occupant. A standing clothes is rack is available for your shirts and dresses.
Next is the kitchen, a large slop sink is perfect for artists needing to clean their brushes, the fridge includes a freezer for longer stays, and an induction cook eye is available for those meals that can't be prepared in the convection toaster/air fryer or microwave.
The bathroom includes towels and a walk-in shower. A small utility closet hides your full length mirror, and don't forget to flip the switch to enjoy your beautiful custom stained glass window!
Included: Central air/heat, linens, towels, paper towels, toilet paper, soap, shampoo and conditioner, a clothes steamer (in lieu of an iron), and the use of a washer & dryer can be arranged upon request for a small cleaning fee.

We had a lovely time staying at the bungalow! It is situated in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood but is also a short drive across the river from Richmond's amazing food, culture, and history.
The bungalow is located in a quiet neighborhood near downtown, restaurants, and museums. It was clean, nicely decorated, roomy, and had everything we needed.
This property was exactly as advertised. The bungalow was extremely clean, well maintained, and charming! We loved the central location and proximity to all of the fun things to do in the city! I cannot recommend this bungalow enough. Thank you, Jennifer!
We had the coziest Valentines weekend at the bungalow. It was pretty rainy while we were here so it was great staying in, watching movies and enjoying the dark and romantic vibe. Everything was just a short drive away. We loved the style of the place, the comfy bed and big porch favorite
Adorable peaceful bungalow, convenient to most neighborhoods!
I came to town for a weekend stay to visit friends but wanted a quiet place to stay on my own, and this adorable back cottage was perfect. Really nicely decorated, comfortable bed, nice linens. and a full supply of any coffee or tea you might need if you're a slow starter like me. I've spent a lot of time living in and around Richmond, and the location is perfect for quick trips around the west end, museum district, and fan. Super convenient, but also super cute and quiet. What an ideal combination! Would definitely stay again :)
What a perfectly lovely little place! It is exactly as described. Pretty, quiet neighborhood. Parking on the street is about 20 feet from the front porch steps - super convenient, and there was never anyone else parked in that area while we were there. The cottage is adorable. It would be perfect for a solo traveler, a couple, or a couple with an infant/small child in a portable crib. Jennifer, our host, was so friendly and extremely responsive. Highly recommend!
Jennifer's bungalow was incredible -- exactly as advertised -- and made for the perfect stay. The property is private and well equipped with all the necessities. The use of the space is really impressive, especially the small cooktop built into the space above the mini-fridge. It was very cold during our time in Richmond, but the front porch is the perfect place to start or end your day.Jennifer was an extremely gracious host. She was very helpful and communicative. I could not recommend the home more.
What a wonderful little cottage! Perfect for one person or a couple. Everything was clean, in perfect working order, & tastefully appointed. Most importantly for me, it was peaceful & quiet- I’ll be staying here again whenever I come to RVA!
The place was cute, quaint, and just what we needed for a long overdue weekend away! The hosts made us feel welcome with the personalized signs, just made us feel at home. Perfect spot in RVA!
This little cottage was more than we can ask for. So beautifully decorated and so cozy and moody. We loved it!! Would definitely recommend. 100/10 stay :)
Wonderful little place - very comfortable and accommodating. The porch is an excellent place to take lunch or just relax at night. The kitchen is stocked with everything you might need. The bed is large and comfortable. Located in a quiet neighborhood very close to a wide variety of food and activities, and also near the bridges into downtown. The host is so kind and helpful.
