About this property
Sandy Riverfront Retreat • Dogs OK • Ski & Hike
River Lily Retreat sits right on the Sandy River, surrounded by the tall firs and quiet forest of Mt. Hood. It’s a comfortable, laid-back mountain home with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, room for 8, and a setting that makes it easy to slow down the minute you arrive.
The main living room is the heart of the house. Cathedral ceilings and huge windows bring the forest right into the room, while the wood-burning stove makes it especially inviting after a cold day on the mountain. There’s plenty of room to gather without everyone having to be in the same place—downstairs you’ll find another TV and lounge area, along with a play space for kids.
The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking at home, with stainless steel appliances, plenty of prep space, a breakfast bar, and a dining area for meals and game nights.
River Lily Retreat sleeps up to 8 guests in three bedrooms:
Primary bedroom — King bed, located in a open loft area above living room
Second bedroom — Twin over Queen bunk bed
Third bedroom — Twin over Queen bunk bed
Three full bathrooms make the house particularly comfortable for two families or a group of friends traveling together.
Outside, the Sandy River is the star of the show. Step onto the deck with your morning coffee and listen to the water moving through the trees, or settle in around the gas firepit at the end of the day. It feels tucked away in the forest, but you’re still close to Highway 26 and everything Mt. Hood has to offer.
Dogs are welcome, so there’s no need to leave them behind.
SKIING & SNOW
River Lily Retreat is an easy home base for a Mt. Hood ski weekend. You can spend the day on the mountain and be back at the house with a fire going before dinner.
Mt. Hood Skibowl — about 15 miles
Timberline Lodge & Ski Area — about 21 miles
Mt. Hood Meadows — about 26 miles
Government Camp is also roughly 15 miles away, making it easy to head up for skiing, tubing, dinner, or drinks even if you aren’t spending the whole day on the slopes.
HIKING & THE OUTDOORS
Some of the best hiking in Oregon is close by. Ramona Falls is roughly 10 miles from the house and is one of our favorite Mt. Hood hikes, winding through the forest before reaching the 120-foot cascading falls.
Mirror Lake and the Tom Dick and Harry Mountain trail are about 15 miles away. There are also miles of trails throughout Mt. Hood National Forest, plus mountain biking at Sandy Ridge, fishing, snowshoeing, and plenty of places to explore along the Sandy River.
Seasonal heated shared pool, open in the summer, usually June through Labor Day. Closed in winter
If your plans involve getting outside, you won’t run out of options here.
FOOD & DRINK
There are several good local spots nearby, so you don’t have to drive all the way to Government Camp every time you want to eat out.
Skyway Bar & Grill is a longtime Mt. Hood favorite for BBQ, burgers, drinks, and a funky mountain atmosphere.
Al Forno Ferruzza is a great choice for pizza and Italian food, while Chicali Cantina in Welches is a good stop for tacos, Mexican food, and margaritas.
For mornings, Mt. Hood Roasters is nearby for locally roasted coffee, and Zigzag Mountain Cafe is a casual option for breakfast and lunch.
You’ll also find groceries and everyday essentials in Welches, along with more restaurants, coffee shops, and local businesses along Highway 26.
A MT. HOOD HOUSE FOR ALL FOUR SEASONS
Winter is obviously great here, but River Lily Retreat isn’t just a ski house. Spring brings rushing rivers and waterfalls, summer is perfect for hiking, biking, fishing, and evenings outside, and fall may be one of the best times to be in the forest.
Come for the mountain, spend some time by the river, and make River Lily Retreat your home base for exploring Mt. Hood.
WINTER TRAVEL — Mountain weather can change quickly. During winter conditions, traction tires or chains may be required on Highway 26 and local roads. Please check ODOT road conditions before traveling.
