ICE Apartments is not only an accommodation, it is an experience with a truly fairytale view! Welcome to Your View of Faxaflói ,the magnificent bay where the capital of Iceland, Reykjavík, lies. From your viewpoint,you are looking towards Akranes,a small town north of Reykjavik. The prominent mountain you see is named Akrafjall. If you look closely, you can see the mountain ridge slightly bend down towards the ocean,There is a legend explain this: the legend states that there was an ancient Giant long ago who used to wander the are around Akranes. He regularly sat down at the end of the mountain ridge to rest,and that is why the mountain ridge to rest,and that is why the mountain slopes down slightly. On a clear day ,if you look north/noth-west, you can even see the outlines of Snæfellsjökull,which is the glacier on Snæfell(Mount Snæfell). It is famous worldwide as the fictional entrance to the center of the Earth in Jules Verne's classic 1864 novel,Journey to the Center of the Earth. Faxaflói is also culturally important for Icelanders. Faxaflói is the place Ingólfur Arnarson,the first settler of Iceland,decided was the perfect place for him to settle. For those interested in history, you can see a statue of Ingólfur Arnarson in a Reykjavík center.
