There were a lot of people, probably the largest one I've ever encountered. Over 200 beds. I'm not quite a fan of it since I didn't find it homely. The bedsheets were itchy. The bedroom was too hot and humid, but later in the night, it became freezing cold. It's also in downtown, so driving may not be an issue, but if you are planning to drive the Ring Road in Iceland which is highly recommended, parking is very limited here

I booked an eight bed room, and for some reason I was put in a 14 bed room with no explanation. I should have been offered a discount for the room difference, but I was not. I was extremely disappointed.

* Some staff were unhelpful. No tour of the property and waiting around to get serviced at the bar. * Rooms and showers were clean. * Specifically booked mixed dorms and they weren’t mixed. * Property was always warm. * Nice food. Decent but more effort is needed. Most likely won’t stay there again on my next visit.

My stay here was pretty good. Facilities were clean and everything seemed organized. I was able to check in early, which I really appreciated after a long flight and bad jet lag. The bus will drop you off and pick right in front of the hostel, which is a perk compared to other places downtown. The staff at the desk when I checked out gave me helpful directions about the bus picking me up. Accessibility warning: There are four flights of stairs and no elevator. No one will help you carry your luggage up the stairs. The snow was not cleared on the front path leading to the door. The construction in the area is not close to done so expect it to continue for many months.

i had a very good stay, it had everything i needed for a short trip. i think the toilets could have been cleaned twice a day

This is our third time staying at The KEX. The staff is lovely and so helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable this time. It was really noisy in the neighborhood, starting pretty early with construction right next-door.

The hostel has a bar and restaurant which is a good place to make new friends. The hostel is about a 5min walk to downtown. The kitchen area is also a good place to meet people. The hostel has construction next door on either side at the moment. You can hear them working early in the morning and late in the evening. Otherwise there is not much else you can fault it on.

Very helpful staff. I had an issue with my tour guide company where the driver left me. I called the hotel and they contacted the company on my behalf and fixed the issue. Thank you for your help. Excellent stay!

We knew the building was older and had been a biscuit factory so I knew it would be older and quaint and for the price, I would stay again. I was able to "overlook" a few things. My traveling companions were not happy and wouldn't stay again.

First Time in Hostel - Perfect for the price!!
First time in a hostel. I stayed alone in the co-ed large dorm room. I was nervous at first, but it was totally fine. Everyone pretty much kept to themselves and were polite. Building had fun decor and beds were clean. I’d definitely stay again.

The location is excellent for city tours, pick up, drop off by tour buses, grocery stores and to from airport. Plus views of bay from the location is incredible. However, they need to work on sanitation of the bathrooms, kitchen. Sunday 24, we had a heavy rainstorm and winds all day. There was water dripping from kitchen ceiling. We did put down 2~3 pots to catch it. None of staffs were show up. Also they have a lot of events going on Friday and weekend. Even if, they provide earplugs, there is no way, you can fall a sleep before 1:00am. I believe that things can be improved
