Eleven days at Villa Sunset in May
Arriving at Villa Sunset having driven from Chania in daylight it wasn't difficult to find due to the excellent directions given by Ibrahim. However, if you arriving in darkness you might want to consider being driven to the villa, a service some car hire companies will provide; as some recognition points would be difficult to see in the dark. You will need a car! The Villa itself was extremely clean, well maintained and spacious, the pool clean and sufficiently large for a property of this size. There is plenty of outside pace both shaded and for sunbathing, the hammocks on the roof were comfortable and had the weather been more seasonal (warmer and less windy) we would have used this area much more. The views are lovely and the property secluded and quiet. There are few local amenities making transport essential, there is a local taverna across the valley which is walkable, I wouldn't want walk back up the hill after an evening out! However, Andreas Taverna is currently only open Friday, Saturday evenings and Sunday 13:00 to 23:00, albeit well worth a visit for some local cuisine. There is a Lidl not too far away you will pass a small 'supermarket' and a petrol station (reasonably priced) on route. There are plenty of tavernas and shops near the beach. Ibrahim, Karima and young Omar we exceptional hosts and couldn't have been more attentive to our needs. We had a lovely time. I can also recommend 'Best Cars' of Rethymno.

Beautiful Villa
We had a wonderful holiday at Sunset Villa, with our two teenagers. The villa is so much more beautiful in real life. We spent many relaxing times on the roof, sitting in the hammocks. The views from the roof were one of our favourite things about the villa, and we enjoyed some beautiful sunrises. The pool was lovely, and there were a lot of places to sit around the villa. The owner Ibrahim was very friendly and helpful, showing us around the villa on arrival, and giving us advice on recommended places to visit. We hired a car which gave us the opportunity to explore the island. Nearby Rethimno has lots of restaurants, cafes and shops. The cobbled streets are very pretty. We would recommend visiting Lake Kournas which is very scenic. We hired peddle boats and got to see terrapins and fish in the lake. We would absolutely recommend booking this villa.

Friendly owners near by, fantastic location
This villa has everything. We stayed here for 12 nights myself my wife and two teenage children. Two comfortable bedrooms with air-conditioning with plenty of wardrobe space. Veiw from the main bedroom of the pool to greet you every morning. The well equipped kitchen with dishwasher helps with cooking at the villa with a large fridge and freezer. The cosy lounge with smart TV (I connected my phone and had all channels I needed). Now we come to the best bit, the outside space. Dinning is a must outside to take in the breathtaking views there is a separate area for a barbecue. The pool is a good size to have funin and gave us a relief from the heat. Take the stairs at the rear of the property to head up onto the roof terrace for more outstanding views. The covered area with hammock chairs were my daughters favourite place to literally hang out. The beaches are 11minutes away and my favourite Episkopi beach 27minutes. There is a lidl close by for groceries. A car is a must in my opinion and can be arranged by the owner which is what we done. Have a good sat navigation system and get used to driving in first gear as it is very steep but worth it for the view. The owner is near by to help with any problems but I don't think you will have any as this is a well loved home. Thank you Abraham for my summer holiday a pleasure to meet you and your family

Just the break we needed!
Most definitely away from it all! Myself and my partner stayed for a week in mid October and aren’t a fan of busyness so if peace is what you’re after, this is the one! Ibrahim has been a pleasure to deal with, before, during and after our stay. Never known a more conscientious villa owner! You definitely need a car for this place you can’t get to anything in walking distance, plus the hill is very steep. The villa guidance was fabulous as the sign posting to the villa when you’re minutes away are partially obscured. The villa itself was lovely, you do have neighbours that we think live there but they were very quiet apart from their early afternoon uk quiz shows on the tv. Completely silent past 7pm so nothing to complain about. The views are incredible. Was a tad windy on the roof but a blanket and a glass of red Cretan wine on the hammock chairs was one of our favourite spots. We had a lovely dinner one evening in ‘kastro taverna’ which is around a 10 minute drive in Mesi. The stuffed peppers were incredible! We also dived the Elephant cave through Evelin Duve centre (next to Lidl Rethymno). One of the best dives I’ve ever done...though you need to be a qualified diver to do it and they will assess your ability before you go in so not open to all. Only niggle I have was the outside washing area wasn’t the cleanest, think a cat had gotten in there-there’s loads of cats around after feeding- but as we only went for a week we didn’t need to wash clothes so just didn’t go in there. Dishwasher wasn’t in action but we knew this prior to going so were happy to wash up by hand! A built brick bbq would have been lovely as the portable one available was a little old but worked well enough. We put it through it’s paces with bbqs 5 our of 7 days as we loved being in the villa. So chilled and relaxing. All in all a wonderful holiday and really didn’t want to come home. Thanks again Ibrahim.

Sunset Villa, Agia Triada, Crete
We are a couple who stayed from 1st to 15th Sept 18. We had an amazing time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the villa to others. The views are fabulous and the design and layout of villa ensure you can appreciate them fully. A perfect get- away- from- it- all. The listing information given is accurate-a car ( and a willingness to drive it!) is essential. This can be arranged through the owner and our experience was very good-Irini, you are a legend! Our flight out was delayed and she was still waiting for us. We arrived at night. The owner gives an option of having the car hire team drive you to the villa which in retrospect I would advise you take. We found it eventually, so it can be done but the air was blue! That's the price you pay for peace and great views. The listing accurately describes the attributes and amenities of the villa and we found it clean on arrival. The communication with Ibrahim, the owner, was first class from the moment of the initial enquiry and I would give him ten out of ten, a pleasure to deal with; he cares very much that his guests have a good experience and we certainly did. Provided one of your party is happy to drive, you are perfectly situated at the villa to see some of Crete's most beautiful sights, many of which can be accessed in less than an hour. Equally, you are never that far from more touristy spots or Rethymnon itself which personally I never get tired of. On the whole, a very happy holiday and although received wisdom says you should never go back, I would have no qualms returning to Sunset Villa.

Lovely - but some problems and no local management
The house and pool are completely beautiful and Crete itself was amazing. We relaxed and got the chance to visit some amazing places. The only challenge with this property is that the owner isn't local and we had some real issues fixing some basic things as a result of this. We arrived late at night, and due to the fact that we didn't have a map or description of how to reach the property got thoroughly lost until 4.30 am. Ibrahim tried to help, but it's hard to describe how to get somewhere in the dark when you're in Qatar! Then the wifi, washing machine, and dishwasher didn't work. It took a week for anyone to take us seriously on the first two (which were then fixed), but the dishwasher won't be fixed until November. Like I say, the house is beautiful and Ibrahim did try, but with no local support it was incredibly hard to get some basic things fixed - which really interfered with us being able to relax and get on with the holiday we were expecting.

Wonderful Cretan villa, clean, well managed, modern and excellent location.
We (3 experienced adult travellers) used the villa for a week in July 2018. The villa was everything it was advertised to be: clean, modern, spacious (both indoors and outdoors) and functional. It could not be faulted. It was very quiet although we went off-season. Wonderful views and beautiful flowers and trees. The large outdoor space provides great spots to relax in the shade with sumptuous vistas. Inside, the Air-Con was invaluable as temperatures didn’t drop below 26. Note there is no air-con in the 2nd bedroom, just a ceiling fan. The owner was very attentive throughout the entire rental process and prompt in answering any queries. For example, the wifi code we were given was incorrect but that was soon resolved. Two issues from the villa contract to emphasise: a) the apartment is very difficult to find, Sat Nav and detailed Google maps were of little use. We found the village, parked our car and walked around until we spotted it. If you’re arriving late you’ll struggle to find it in the dark without assistance. The owner does provide a guide (for a fee) to take you from the airport to the accommodation. Also note the very steep and narrow road to the villa and its parking space. b) small children will need to be supervised closely, there are slippy stone stairs, low walls over big drops and the deep swimming pool is unguarded. If you are eating by the pool of an evening, watch out for insect bites if you are susceptible. The villa is in a great location to explore large parts of Crete. However, the roads and signs are generally poor so you will need your wits about you. Note that Heraklion is 70 min away and Chania 90min away IF you follow the speed limits. There are good beaches just east of Rethymno about 15 min away by car. Petrol stations are everywhere. Rethymno itself is a large and bustling town and well worth a visit. Around the villa itself there are several good tavernas and supermarkets, for example Pigi which is a 5min car drive, once you know the route. We tended to eat at these local tavernas as the food was good and inexpensive as it was wherever we went (£5 would usually get you a good meal). In conclusion, we would have absolutely no qualms in renting the villa for a future holiday.

Beautiful Location
We stayed at this villa for 9 nights and wish we had booked for longer. The villa is situated in a very peaceful, beautiful location. The roof terrace and the pool are both fabulous and were very well used. There are two hammocks on the roof terrace which we used every night, looking out towards the view of the sea and the neighboring villages. The villa itself is comfortable and clean and and has everything you need. The welcome pack was much appreciated. We have never driven abroad before and were very nervous. Ibrahim the owner arranged car hire. He also arranged for us to be picked up and escorted from the airport to the villa and back again to the airport. Everything ran like clockwork and the team used by the owner were great. Yannis in the neighboring property and the pool cleaner were also very kind and helpful. We did not venture far but discovered some really nice tavernas about 10 minutes drive away. We really liked a taverna is a small village named Mesi which is well sign posted and about 15 minutes drive away. The people here were very friendly and the food tasty This is the first time that we have been abroad without booking through a travel agent. We were amazed how smoothly and stress free everything ran and this was down to the owner Ibrahim. He answered all of our e mails in a very timely manner and was very very helpful and accommodating. We would have no problem recommending this villa. It is a very good base if you are brave enough to go out exploring or if you just want to totally relax and unwind Thank you I brahim for letting us use your lovely villa
