PARKING In addition to driveway parking, the circle drive provides enough space for 3-4 vehicles or a trailer carrying all your favorite mountain toys. During winter months, when there is snow or ice on the ground, the driveway should not be used for parking out of an abundance of caution.
NOTE: The last mile of the drive is via dirt roads. Cars and sedans will have no issues accessing the cabin during warm weather months. However, all-wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicles are needed during the winter (snow chains may be necessary in extreme conditions). Winter weather in New Mexico can be unpredictable, so please prepare accordingly. Please also note that all-wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicles are recommended in the spring (April to early May) when roads can become muddy due to the snow melting.

We had an issue when we first arrived at Carson Cabin but Chris was prompt and generous at making sure we had what we needed. Such a gracious host. This Red River stay was our best so far. A clean efficient cabin with no excessive clutter. The deck was our favorite but the fireplace and fire pit were close behind. We spent most of the week just enjoying the view.
The property is very nice. Great location in the valley just down from Red River. Peaceful, relaxing, great view with nearby River. Had a wonderful stay here.
We had a great time at Carson Cabin. We have been enjoying Red River as a family for many years and have never stayed in the Upper Valley, Carson Cabin was the first place in the Upper Valley we have ever stayed and it did not disappoint. Cozy Cabin, Clean, Great Location, Beautiful Views, and only 10 - 15 Minutes from Town.
Had a wonderful stay at Carson Cabin. The house was clean and updated. Tucked away in the trees with very little traffic. Make sure to spend time relaxing on the deck and hear the wind through the trees!
We had a great time at Carson Cabin. We loved being located in the forest and still having a short drive to town. The cabin is beautifully decorated, cozy, quiet, well stocked and super clean. The online guide provided by the hosts was excellent - I wish all hosts would provide something similar. We’d love to come back in the summer.
This cabin backs up to the mountain. So you can walk out of the back door and exploration is endless. It was a comfy cabin with plenty of firewood to have a cozy family night by the fire. The hosts were responsive and very helpful. Neighbors were great and far away. Some cabins we have stayed in stay really cold during winter. This cabin had individual heaters in every room. So it stayed comfortable 24/7. Thank you again Carson cabin. Until next time
We had such a wonderful time. The property is absolutely beautiful and suited our needs perfectly. The neighborhood is quiet, and the views are breathtaking. We had 3 large trucks, trailers, and ATVs, and there was perfect parking for all our vehicles, which was a blessing! (and hard to find!) Access to all the amazing offroad trails was near and easy to access. The short drive to town was just perfect. The cabin is beyond lovely, very homey and welcoming. The owners are very kind and helpful. Truly one of the very best vacation homes we have rented, it was hard to leave! I would highly recommend staying here and hope to return again someday! Thank you so much for having us, we have great memories here.
Red River is so special to my family! My grandmother had a cabin in the Upper Valley when I was a child and I spent many summers there. When I met my husband, I was shocked and elated to find out he also did as a child. Now our children love it as much as we do. Our ultimate goal is to have our own property there to open up to visitors that also love Red River.
The Carson Cabin is so cozy and we utilized it to the max. We had a fire and had smores one night, cooked several meals and there was plenty of room for us. The beds were so comfy! I wish I knew what mattresses they were and we had plenty of hot water. The only suggestion I might have is an extra fan for upstairs. Overall we would stay here again and will recommend it to others that like the seclusion and quietness the Upper Valley has to offer!
Our family had a great time in the Red River area, thanks in large part to the relaxing atmosphere of Carson Cabin, the helpful suggestions by the hosts, and the cozy, comfortable connections with nature just far enough outside of town. We will certainly recommend this location to friends and family looking for a quiet retreat nearby to all the fun of Red River.
Our family had such a great time at the cabin. Lots of wonderful memories made. The cabin is well stocked and clean. The beds are extremely comfortable. The view from the cabin can't be beat. Beautiful trees and beautiful view of the mountains.
The cooler weather lured us to Red River and we chose the Carson Cabin because it was the perfect size and location.
The cabin is outfitted perfectly for cooking in and grilling out. Everything is new and very comfortable.
We loved our stay at the cabin. Simple check in and out. No issues. Everything is updated. Mattresses are comfy, wifi works great. Thanks for a wonderful week.
It would have been nice to have the walkway shelved from the recent snow when we arrived. Property was as accurate as the pictures. It also would have been nice to have holiday decorations up for the stay.
The cabin is located in a very beautiful location. The mountains and beautiful forest make for a very peaceful stay. We will be back in a warmer season to hike and enjoy the birds and wildlife some more. Tip: If you can remember to bring bird seed, you will have an unforgettable evening and morning show each day you are at this beautiful cabin. It is fully furnished and the hosts make sure you are ok and happy. Wonderful and restful which is what we were looking for on this trip. The hints from the hosts for dinner, drinks, lunch and breakfast are spot on. We had an excellent dinner at Brett's Bistro. Great stay.
Carson Cabin was amazing from start to finish. Exceptionally clean and inviting. The beds were so comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with all the necessary cookware and dishes. The fireplace was enjoyed each evening after a day on the trails in the Ranger. The host were more than welcoming and were very pleasant to work with. The chipmunks were so precious and were a joy to watch. The bears that made an appearance the last day were the finality of the trip. We are planning another stay with other members of our family in the future to this quaint little cabin. The only drawback is the heart attack staircase from the parking area to the porch. LOL This could just be a case of too old for high altitudes. Overall we give Carson Cabin a 10.

My family celebrated Christmas 2022 at Carson Cabin and WE LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!
Every detail was well thought out right from the jump! We were alerted the cabin was ready early and received our special code to the doors. Having a keyless entry was so nice!
When we arrived it was CLEAN and warm. Each room had space heaters (INCLUDING THE BATHROOMS!) and the firewood was stocked. The cabin looked exactly like the pictures that we have been looking at for months.
We were pleasantly surprised with how well stocked the cabin was. The owners thought of everything, especially in the kitchen. There were plenty of dishes (plastic and glass), mugs, drinking glasses (plastic and glass), pots and pans, can openers, coffeepot, kettle, blenders, and my personal favorite, a CROCKPOT! The appliances were all new and the washer and dryer came in handy since we had spent 4 days with family before we came to the cabin.
There was dish soap, laundry detergent, fabric sheets, dishwasher pods, trash bags, a vacuum, a broom, a blow dryer, and even a flat iron!
Both bathrooms were nice and clean and there was plenty of closet space for our clothes and luggage! My kids especially loved the Harry Potter closet in the master bedroom.
The beds were so comfortable! The sheets were clean and crisp, which we loved. There were plenty of bath towels, hand towels, and wash cloths. We especially loved the comfy blanket in the living room.
The cabin had several board games (we played monopoly several times) and a Roku (TV) which we easily logged in to and we’re able to access our Amazon Prime, Netflix and Hulu accounts.
The area around the cabin had a nice layer of snow powder which my kids loved. We also enjoyed a campfire!
We enjoyed skiing, tubing, exploring town, and food (Capo’s was our favorite).
The grocery store was very convenient and well stocked. We ate most of our meals at the cabin during our week stay which saved us a lot of money. We left food in the crockpot on our ski day and were able to come home to a great smelling house. The microwave was perfect for pizza pockets and popcorn.
We can’t wait to go back! We look forward to planning a trip to Carson Cabin in the summer 🤗 Thank you for making our Christmas extra special.
Beautiful well updated cabin hidden up in the woods. Very comfortable and well appointed! Hosts communicated with us all the way through the booking process and during our stay to make sure we were happy. Definitely will be back!
