About this property
Base Camp with Hot Tub, on main street, Wi-Fi, dog
Summary:
Historic Home on Main Street, Dog Friendly with Hot Tub in Downtown Red Lodge
The Space:
Base Camp @ Crossers Station is the perfect place for visitors looking for a beautiful home in an ideal location. Named for its proximity to everything Red Lodge has to offer, the Base Camp is right on Red Lodge’s main street with downtown shops and restaurants within walking distance, Rock Creek just one block away, and it is a short drive to the ski hill and Beartooth Highway.
This beautiful, unique home is steeped in history. When the Beartooth Highway officially opened in 1936, Red Lodge businessmen sought to open new restaurants, gas stations, and motels. One of the better-known roadside inns was the “Crosser’s Super Service and Auto Court.” Originally, the property consisted of a gas station called “Crossers” and across the street was the “Motor Inn Motel.” While sections of the Motor Inn Motel have been removed, the three buildings on this property, while updated, are the original Motor Inn structures.
Base Camp @ Crossers Station is one of those three original Motor Inn Motel buildings. This cozy 3-bedroom home sleeps a tight knit group of 6 and is ideal for those who want to explore all the town of Red Lodge has to offer, and all within walking distance! The home just blocks away from amazing restaurants and quaint shops that make Red Lodge a “destination location!” The home has a fully stocked kitchen, one full-bath, living and dining room. There is also an outside patio area with a firepit and grill to enjoy! As a bonus, you can see the Beartooth Mountains from this historic home located on the corner of the main street in Red Lodge!
Base Camp is conveniently located kitty-corner to The Roosevelt Center, Red Lodge’s vibrant hub for art, culture, performances, receptions, conferences, and community gatherings. With both indoor and outdoor spaces designed for creativity and connection, The Roosevelt Center hosts a variety of events year-round. Stay at Base Camp and be front and center for everything happening at this dynamic venue
If you have more than 6 people in your group and you would like to rent the other unit on the property, the Cornerstone @ Crossers Station is a cozy studio style home that is right next door!! The Cornerstone comfortably sleeps two with a Kitchenette, full bath, patio with firepit, BBQ grill, and a cozy gas fireplace in the living room. Inquire with us for availability and if you would like more information on renting both properties.
The Base Camp @ Crossers Station is 6.9 miles to Red Lodge Mountain.
The Base Camp @ Crossers Station is Dog-Friendly up to 2 dogs

The Neighborhood:
Red Lodge, nestled in the foothills of the Beartooth Mountains, is a wonderful place to visit if you are looking for family fun, a place to touch the wild, or just a chance to let your hair down. Whether you are wearing Birkenstocks or cowboy boots, you will find something to do here. (Although downtown is paved and we even have sidewalks, Jimmy Choos are probably not a great idea!)
In winter the road ends here. Downhill skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, sledding and sleigh riding are just the short list of activities that you can do when visiting us.
In summer we revel in the Beartooth Pass opening. We are only 68 miles from Yellowstone Park, but plan on a good two hours` drive as the “Pass” is stunning in high mountain vistas, rocky cliffs, and jeweled lakes. The Custer National Forest is a haven for wildlife including elk, moose, mountain goats, big horn sheep, bears (black and grizzly), mountain lions and wolves. Golden marmots are often seen dashing across the trails. Golden and bald eagles often visit our area, as well as sandhill cranes and blue herons.

Red Lodge, Montana is a rural community that does offer internet and cell service throughout most geographic areas but, some locations are completely void of any internet or cell service. In town and within a 3-5 mile radius of downtown you will enjoy solid cell signal but during times when our population increases due to events, celebration (such as the Fourth of July), or emergency situations such as a wildfire you will notice that these online and cellular services slow down and sometimes, they can slow down to the point where you have to wait to place a call. We can’t do anything to help in these situations, so we encourage people to enjoy the freedom of being “unplugged” and to be patient.

This house was clean, updated, and within walking distance to shops and restaurants. The hot tub was a wonderful amenity, and there is a cute little river front park right down the street.
Perfect layout for two couples and two westies. Stocked with everything we needed. Hot tub, fire pit and fenced in backyard made for a great outdoor experience.
Good experience, walking distance from dt red lodge
The property was cozy but slept 4 adults and 2 kids comfortably. It is nice you're able to walk downtown, just a few blocks to get to restaurants. The owner was very responsive when the hottub developed an unsavory smell during our stay and got a technician over to fix it the same day.
We were so happy with our stay. Being dog friendly is so important to us. Having all of the amenities like fire pit, hot tub, and stocked kitchen for cooking was so nice. Honestly, the amount of towels was so nice. . And capability to do laundry and re line the trash was amazing. I appreciate it when a home isn’t stingy with convenience. Location was also amazing!
Everything was perfect! The location, the house itself, the amenities, the communication with Jenny- property manager. The visit exceeded our expectations!
The property manager is top notch and what makes this listing extraordinary. She left party favors and a personalized birthday card for my mom because she knew that we were celebrating her birthday. She answered all questions immediately and strove to make our weekend extra special. The unit is well appointed and comfortable. It’s in a convenient location. I highly recommend it!
The property is small and perfect for a stay in red lodge. Slept the thee of us easily and would be great for a up two 6. It is well appointed with everything we needed. The hot tub was relaxing. We didn't get a chance to grill or use the fire pit but liked they were available. Were greeted by turkey in the morning outside and deer in the evening. It was close to everything but out of the center of town. The host communications were great. We would stay here again.
Loved the location to downtown and the home was cute and small but enough to hold our family. Enjoyed the hot tub! There was a ferret that I believe is possibly a neighbor's pet that was hanging around. I heard it under the deck and then it crawled under the fence and ran into the home when we were trying to leave for skiing. It was friendly and took us about 10 minutes to get it out with a popcorn trail.
This cottage is the perfect base to explore Red Lodge! We loved being close to downtown and to the river. The kitchen is well stocked and the hot tub and patio area are very nice!We stayed in August during an unexpected heat wave. Unfortunately the portable AC unit didn’t help alleviate the heat, but overall the stay was pleasant despite the high temps. Some suggestions: blackout shades in the bedrooms and more private blinds in the shower would be nice.
Close to the mountain and close to downtown… what more can you ask for.
Jennifer made the check-in process super easy. Clear instructions on checking-in and what is expected. Definitely would stay again was the consensus from our party. Thanks for the great stay
This little house was a great place to stay for a quick, weekend getaway with friends. They house did not feel cramped with four adults. We spent the majority of the time in the hot tub and by the fire pit. Very close to all the shops, bars and restaurants! Highly recommend!
We had a great stay. It is super close to shopping and dinning. The hot tub was well maintained and clean. Our only complaint was that the outdoor firepit was out of propane. Otherwise, everything was perfect.
Had a blast in this place with my friends. It's within walking distance of basically everything in town and if you want to go through the Beartooth pass you're close enough to the road that it's super easy to access even with traffic. The owner was great to communicate with and the cleanup for the property is straight forward. Would totally stay here again the next time I come out.
Great location (good on-property parking)…quick walk to the Main Street of Red Lodge. Very clean. Nice outdoor space (gas grill, gas fire pit, hot tub, deck - patio). Property manager very responsive during booking and stay, for anything you ask/need.
We had a fantastic time . We will absolutely book this property again. The management company was very responsive to our needs. Did d a outstanding job doing what they could for us . With something that was out of there control. Thanks you so much !
Location was great. We enjoyed our walks to dinner! Property was clean. The property manager communicated quickly and effectively. Only downfalls were the mattresses could use an upgrade, and the Keurig machine was not working. However, they did have a "regular" coffee maker to make up for the malfunctioning Keurig.
The house was very nice. Didn't use the hot tub because of the heat in the house and out side. The house definitly needs some type of air conditioning. I know that the weather is usually cool in mountain towns but the heat can also be very hot. Back packed at East Rose Bud and the weather was up to 101 degrees. Also camped there several times and the weather does go up. Also camped above Red Lodge in the heat. I have a lung condition and it is worse in the heat and cold. I wasn't able to do anything but try to stay cool.
This would be a very nice place to stay in colder weather.
The rule of no shoes in the house wasn't told to us until we were on our way to town. So we didn't use shoes in the house but kept our socks on. The floors are very slippery in socks. My husband slipped and fell forward and his body and head hit the floor. I also slipped on the very small incline to get into the house and was lucky to not fall.
So the house and back yard looked very nice. But our weeked was trerible due to no AC and the heat. We did use a lot of the wash clothes trying to stay cool
