"The Johnstown estate hotel has some great features and some things that need improving. Firstly, the bar and restaurant staff are great, some of the best Ive expereinced in an Irish hotel over the last few years. The food is very good and the lobby area was lovely and spacious to sit and enjoy a drink away from the main bar. While it was busy there was room for everyone. However the leisure area, pool etc was too busy and there was no supervision or staff watching the pool. It meant that a group of young lads took over the jacuzzi for an hour and noone else could use it. It could do with sone TLC. The hotel in general was way too warm. I know thsts a hard thing to control but with no air-conditioning my sleep was not great. I would still recommend this hotel and had a lovely time here. "

"Room lacked a desk/dressing table, there was a large gap where it should have been. A manager did bring a battered looking square table that would have made it a narrow space at the foot of the bed, I had already moved a smaller table into the space, so that I could set up my laptop and also use the hairdryer. The room was otherwise ok, no USB ports luckily there is a garage across the road that sold adapters. A shower over a low bath with a shower curtain that clung to my legs, noisy plumbing. Breakfast was the usual with a good choice, self-service coffee from only one machine. I was staying there for a conference unlikely that I’d choose to stay there in future. Having said that I had stayed there in the past with no issues. There’s a very good Indian restaurant within walking distance "

"Staff, especially Bismark the night manager were excellent. It’s an impressive hotel, great atmosphere, great bars, lovely food. The one downside, though sorted was a hot water issue in my room. "
