Perfect Stay

This was our second visit to Hekla Cabin. The cabin was warm, cosy, lovely hot shower, TV and dvds to choose from. Small kitchen that does the job, beds very comfortable and that includes the sofa bed. The views are wonderful, it's just stunning especially when you see the Icelandic ponies grazing. Thank you.

A Beautiful, Cozy Little Cabin

The Hekla Cabins are three, wonderful little cabins just off one of the main roads through the area. The cabin comfortably fit two, but there's a pullout couch (at least in Cabin One) for an additional sleeper. The kitchen has a small fridge and a stovetop, and the bathroom has a shower with plenty of hot water (WiFi was also available). The view from the cabin is of a BEAUTIFUL Icelandic landscape, even in the winter; I imagine the greenery in the summer is that much more stunning. The only (admittedly TRULY minor) issues we had with the cabin were A) the steps leading up to the cabin seem to have sunk into the ground a bit, making the bottom step QUITE steep; B) the key didn't want to let itself out of the lock (which kind of sucked in the rain); and C) the bed only had down (or down-like) comforters. If you're a warm sleeper (like my husband), you may find yourself torn between too much blanket and not enough blanket. Otherwise, the cabin was wonderful! Clean, superbly cozy and warm as the nighttime rain and wind blew through, and, on one of the clear nights we had (we stayed in March), we were far enough from any major light pollution to be able to see a DAZZLING display of the Aurora Borealis! I would STRONGLY recommend staying at the Hekla Cabins if you're looking for a great place to stay near Hella (which also puts the cabins just over an hour from either Vik or Reykjavik). Fantastic location, and the cabin was super clean, beautifully decorated and equipped with everything we needed for our three-night stay. The landscape is breathtaking.

This cabin is adorable! Everything is absolutely clean & comfortable. The view looks out over pastures with horses & sheep, and there is a beautiful range of mountains/volcanos in the distance.

Gorgeous sights of E15 and Westman Islands out the back window. Loved our “neighbors”, the local sheep herd, that wandered by daily. Only concern was we were unable to contact owner for door access until the day we arrived (instructions indicated we should try several days in advance), but it worked out.

Stay there with my family with 2 kids. The cabin is clean and has all the necessary cooking utensils, cutlery to cook. My cabin is also well stocked with oil, salt, pepper etc. Able to park car right outside the cabin and hence convenient for moving of luggage. During our stay, we were very fortunate to witness a full-blown aurora display of green, purple and yellow lights. The dark surrounding makes it perfect to do so right outside the cabin. I left two power bank behind after check-out and the property manager is kind enough to drop me a message to inform me and made arrangement to pick up 3 days later on my way back to Reykjavik. Family and I had a wonderful stay.

2 nuits passés avec 3 enfants (15/12/8 ans) dans le Chalet numéro 2 (sur 3) en pleine nature Récupération des clés ds une boîte à code permettant une arrivée à toute heure.. Équipement complet (cuisinette..). Bref, Une valeur sûre.

Off the beaten path from Tourist near attractions

The best tranquil location with horses and sheep all around for a much better experience. House is super clean and comfortable and we even had time to watch great movies from the selection. I wish we had more time at this location.
