The mini-village Kamaria has only 40 inhabitants and some holiday homes are scattered around. The way to Villa Pilias is only used by very few residents, so that even in the main season of August it is very quiet, although there are 5 almost empty dream beaches with sand within 10 kilometers. 5 km away is the well-known fishing village of Finikounda, where the Greeks (mostly from Athens) go on holiday in August and know why. There are the castles of Methoni and Pylos, here with a great museum and exhibitions, the monastery in Koroni, the ancient city of Messini near Kalamata or Kalamta itself with many churches, museums and exhibitions. From Kamaria it is also just under two and a half hours drive to Olympia, Mycenae, Epidaurus or Mistras near Sparta.
To Sparta you can either take the highway (90 km) from Kalamata over the up to 2500 meter high Taygetos Mountains, whose highest mountain, snow-covered in winter, can be seen from the terrace of Villa Pilias in clear weather. Because from here there is a postcard view of this mountain and of course the sea.
