Honestly no complaints. Fair priced and nothing to nitpick at. Everything you see online is as expected! Amazing area right by the train station, good food nearby, place is clean, people are friendly, showers are decent.
Underbed was never cleaned and smelled terrible. Room was too small to have like 20 people sleeping in it. No outlet in hostel. Everyone was throwing there stuff everywhere. Unusable small lockers. Nowhere to eat pretty much. Bed was comfortable, but they make you put on your own sheets which is hard if not trained. 2 bathrooms for the whole hostel. Showers weren’t bad but need to bring own towel and shampoo. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good area but far from Amsterdam.
Worst Hostel ever had, no facilities for cooking, not even a kettle in the kitchen.
Exactly in the wrong area of city.
Nothing worth

Disliked: Cleanliness
Overall, my stay was okay – you get what you pay for. The beds were clean and surprisingly comfortable, and even though there were always people coming and going, it wasn’t too noisy most of the time. Of course, there were a few guests who snored loudly or kept opening and closing the door a thousand times, but that’s just part of the hostel experience, I guess.
The only real downside for me was the bathrooms. The toilets and showers were unfortunately very dirty – with grime, hair, and even some black mold in places. I honestly didn’t go to the toilet once without disinfecting everything first. That’s definitely something that needs improvement.
I understand the staff have a lot to do, but if the bathrooms were cleaned more thoroughly and more often (not just a quick wipe-over), the whole place would feel much nicer overall. Apart from that, it’s decent for the price, but the hygiene in the sanitary areas really needs attention.
Very comfortable bed with a curtain across for privacy. Modern facilities but there is only one toilet for each gender on every floor between 15+ people. The communal areas including the kitchen, showers and bathrooms needed to be cleaned more regularly and thoroughly and a bin is definitely needed in the shower area as people leave their rubbish lying around. Otherwise, the staff were all friendly and helpful and the accommodation is affordable for a trip to Amsterdam.
Thank you to Salvatore and the entire staff! I felt so safe, welcome, and comfortable at Purmerend City Hostel.
North Amsterdam is much quieter which I appreciated. The round the clock 24/7 staff was always super friendly and helpful, accommodating and attentive to their guests.
I had originally only booked for one night…but ended up staying for 4. 😅💁♀️
I can’t wait to bring friends there the next time I come to Amsterdam.
On top of that, the privacy of the bunks was a huuuuge bonus. The place was also the cleanest hostel I’ve ever stayed in. 10/10. Five stars. A . 👌😎✨🤠✨😎👌

Liked: Staff & service
The hostel is actually quite good but it is not in Amsterdam. If you travel with public transportation and only want to travel in Amsterdam City it is not recommended. You have to pay extra cost to go to Purmerend because it is not included in daily ticket Amsterdam. And it takes about 30min from Amsterdam.
Stayed here a few nights to visit Amsterdam with a friend. We booked here because of the great prices, and still very convenient connection to Amsterdam (buses are going every 20 mins to Amsterdam north and the central station). Very friendly service. The pods are great, very comfy beds. No aircon in the rooms, so it can get a bit stuffy at night.
Towels are provided. Decent amount of showers and toilets. General cleanliness was good, rooms were a bit dirty though (lots of unused looking stuff lying around). Purmerend has a rather cute little center, very relaxed and save vibe. I rented a bike to ride around the country side, which I would very much recommend.
Overall very much recommended. Would stay there again!
The stay was pleasant!
Only major problem is with the washroom. Only 2 washrooms shared with 40+ people. That is very unreasonable. Everything else was perfect
Bien ubicado, la atención por parte del personal es muy buena, la cama era cómoda y privada, solo podrían ofrecer toallas, también hay muy pocos baños y deberían tener un microondas.
