Prospector’s Hideaway is a unique cabin located 13 miles or 28 minutes from downtown Prescott. It nestles on the side of Spruce Mountain near Rich Gulch Creek.
Access is challenging. It is at the end of a narrow, bumpy dirt road that lasts about a mile. This road requires vehicles with 4-Wheel or All-Wheel drive and good clearance. You also must have a 'skilled driver' - someone who is capable of driving on all sorts of terrain confidently, comfortably and safely. This road is not for the faint-hearted nor a regular car. Rain, snow and arriving at night may increase the difficulty considerably. Don’t give up! Your dream cabin on the side of a mountain is just a precipitous turn away!
Okay… you made it. Prepare to be amazed! This cabin is a dream come true for vacation lovers seeking secluded tall-pines adventures!
Prospector’s Hideaway living room was part of the original log cabin built in 1904. It was built by a gold prospector panning for gold in Lynx creek. At that time, placer mining was a dangerous business due to Apache raids so miners worked in pairs. One used a shovel while the other had a rifle. Don’t worry… things have tamed down quite a bit since then. The rock, gas fireplace is the well-taken care of the original one-room cabin - but feel free to watch the smart, streaming TV instead. The rest of the house has been added on so comfort and modern convenience are available for your mountain stay. The original house sleeps 6 with two bedrooms and sleeper couch. The two cabin bedrooms have queen beds and share a hall bath with a tub/shower combination. The kitchen is bright and airy with a dish washer and all pots, pans and cookware to rustle up grub for the friends and family. A nice six seat table has great views and can be enjoyed for meals, snacks or game time.
A/C, central heat and washer/dryer make this rustic setting tolerable for even the most finicky city dweller. WIFI and cell phone service are top notch. Even though you are at the end of a road on the side of a mountain you can still make contact with civilization!
Let’s go outside! The deck is a dream come true with lot’s of comfortable seating and even a gas firepit. There is a propane grill for outdoor cooking and a loveseat swing. This is where you can relax and relive the day’s adventures and plan tomorrow’s explorations. Nothing but trees for as far as the eye can see. The whisper of the wind or the cry of a hawk enhance the tranquility of this remote cabin in the mountains. This property is fully fenced making this a dream vacation for your dog as well. In the mud room you will find corn hole and horseshoes. More board games and puzzles can be found in the house.
Prospector’s Hideaway is hard to get to so bring all your necessities on the first run. It's worth the effort to visit this hidden gem of a vacation rental!
