Lovely place

Very nice hotel in the heart of the capital near all the attractions by walking .. the hotel is great and the service is great nice simple breakfast , quite room I recommend it

We often stay at Hotel Santa Maria on Praia Plateau because it is perfectly placed on the central pedestrianised street, close to all the historical and cultural sights. The local staff are very helpful and always cheerful. The hotel is comfortable and clean. It has a lift and delicious buffet breakfasts.

Excellently positioned on Praia Plateau, which is full of history and culture. The Santa Maria has friendly, cheerful, Caboverdean staff and is comfortable, clean and caring. Buffet breakfast is delicious and it has a lift. The only minor problem is it’s sometimes hard to get on the WiFi.

Great experience

Really good stay. We had a very big room, clean, comfortable and with air conditioner. Reception really kind, friendly and helpful. We needed a taxi, tips and recommendation and we felt in really good hands. Very central position in Praia, a nice walk away from the beach and the restaurant

Friendly staff, great breakfast, very good food in their restaurant with at times really slow and bad service. Hot water in the bathroom can be dangerously hot. Great location. We have stayed here before, many times, and will stay here again.

Staff was very friendly! Spent 8 days here on our honeymoon and would recommend to anyone. Nothing bad at all. The room was not sound proof so you could hear other guests come and go but after all, it is a hotel, LOL!

Unhelpful, tiny room

Staff was supposed to be able to assist with some simple requests but they were uninterested. For example, i arrived from the airport at 21:30 and asked for a restaurant recommendation. They said everywhere was closed. Not the case at all and I found multiple restaurants open. Then the next day I asked for assistance to book ferry tickets as I have been unable to do so online. The advice I received was go out of the hotel to the left...I was not able to book tickets in time and missed my chance to go to Fogo. Then as I was leaving the hotel I asked if they could call me a taxi. The front desk person told me to go out and catch a taxi myself. Besides that the room itself was maybe the smallest I've ever had in the hotel and you can hear everything. The only thing the hotel has going for it is their location.

Tranquil Hotel Santa Maria

Tiny little hotel on a lively street with the most charming, accomodating staff. Perfect value for the money + a nice little restaurant downstairs with adorable cats who sleep on the roof across the way. Picturesque + a lovely landing for an entree into Praia + all it has to offer.

Right downtown on pedestrian mall. Staff were all friendly, helpful and efficient. The breakfast people were run ragged trying to keep the food replenished and clean the area. Commendable.

Attention !

1st. Be careful ! taxi from Airport to downtown Praia most drivers will ask you for € 20 but the right price is €10. 2nd. I'd booked a double room (twin) for 2 nights at Hotel st. Maria. The night editor made us pay a supplement of € 85 because we were 2 people in a double room.? I had to insist to get an invoice.

I liked the people in the reception and the other staff for their servicemindedness. They tried to find tours and some were pretty good with english or french. Next time I will use it again and highly recoommend it to my friends. You feel good at this former family owned hostel now upgraded to hotel and I understand why other peple liked it. Lars Denmark

If you’re going to pick a hotel in this city, do not pick this hotel. The food is terrible. The only thing good was the beer and that was in a bottle. The room is very uncomfortable is a joke. You can barely turn around. The pictures are absolutely lies. It does not look like anything like that when you get there the TV only has channels in Portuguese
