The outside of the hotel/ home is beautiful, I love and appreciate well kept historic homes and the neighborhood. I stayed in room #4, which is cozy and big enough for me to move around and lay/ sleep in both of the beds. The decorations are well thought out and added to the ambiance to this great home/ hotel. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone and will rebook when I'm in Portland again.
Unique space in convenient area. A hot plate would make the kitchen more usable.

It was nice but I didn’t realize ahead of time that I would be sharing the bathroom with other guests. Some of the guests were messy in the common area. Really nice location, having Trader Joe’s nearby was amazing!
Had a great stay here. They were super accommodating and helpful, the room was very clean and comfortable, and the shared bathrooms were all pretty spotless. So nice to have a kitchen available, as well!
This was the perfect place for someone new to the area. Our host gave excellent direction for all details, including parking (which could be extremely daunting without their expertise), places to visit, and house rules. The space was lovely, situated in a beautiful neighborhood with lots of food and shopping options nearby. And the bed was absolutely fantastic. It was perfectly comfortable after a busy day of hiking and taking in the sights!

Hi Sam, I’m not sure what happened. I refunded the nights you didn’t stay last week. We didn’t charge any cancellation fee on our end. We will look into this with Expedia.
such a lovely place hosted by the friendliest fella!! very quaint and cozy for such a centralized location in downtown portland—walkable to lots of great food spots.
the only downside is the parking. it was an absolute pain trying to find street parking on a bustling saturday night, even with a permit we couldn’t find a spot. nevertheless, Tim was still very responsive and patient with us and helped us out a lot! i appreciate his hospitality very much and cannot recommend this place enough.

Thank you Amy!!!! It was was a pleasure to host you twice last week and we hope to see you again. We very much appreciate you making our Guesthouse your Portland home away from home. For those reading this review, I am happy to share the following regarding street parking.Amy first arrived during the most congested time for street parking (4-8PM) on a rainy Saturday night. Our Guesthouse is virtually surrounded by myriad of excellent dining options on NW 21st and NW 23rd Avenues, which makes our neighborhood (Portland’s best!) even more popular during those hours. Factor in the rain and a 6PM Portland Timbers soccer match (their final match of the season) and yes, street parking in our neighborhood was truly more congested than normal that night.Additionally, as I shared with Amy during our phone conversation, there is a pay to park, off-street parking lot (the name is Universal Parking) located 1/2 block from our door. It is available 4PM to 9AM Monday through Friday and 24 hours on Saturday and Sunday. In conclusion, we share the following with all guests via their confirmation and street parking permit emails..."our Guesthouse is in a dense, urban neighborhood (Portland's best!) and parking reflects that." I hope this information is helpful to all! Many thanks!
Quaint and lots of charm. Great location to catch the bus, walk around the area or ride the link. I felt safe and the rooms were clean. Highly recommend.
I booked my first solo trip and am so happy that it ended up being at this location! This was also my first time at a hostel and I was PLEASANTLY surprised at my overall experience. The location is great and is perfect walking distance to many shops, restaurants, and local gardens so that you can get some of the city, suburbs, and outdoors all in one day. Barely ran into any of the other guests there and felt very safe and at home. Trader Joes is around the corner, so it makes it easy if you need some snacks while you stay. Loved my trip sooo much!
I will most definitely be booking at the Portland International Guesthouse on my next trip up to Portland. :)

Thanks so much, Deliah! Look forward to seeing you in the future.
Excellent low cost option. As long as you aren’t expecting a capital-H-Hotel, you’re going to be very pleased. Really nice people and a pleasant space.
Great neighborhood! Safe, walkable, close to a lot of great places. (Including Trader Joe’s next door, but also tons of restaurants, shops, and Washington Park.) I wasn’t able to get a parking permit in time but had no issues finding a street spot during the week. Room two is where I stayed. Clear instructions for check in/check out. It’s very basic (exactly what you expect for the price/description) and clean. Never had to wait for a bathroom and felt it was perfect for me (a place to sleep/shower) on a solo trip. Thank you!

Some may not like the small size of the room, but it was just what I needed: a place to store my things and a bed to come home to at the end of the day. The rooms and bathrooms are neat and clean, and there's a shared eating area stocked with some light breakfast options to energize with before heading out.
Host had excellent food recommendations and was extremely responsive when we had questions about parking. Room was clean and spacious, will definitely stay again
Minimal amenities, sparse communication from owners (e.g., we saw a reference to a breakfast room... not idea if there truly was one or where it might have been.) Shared baths. Pleasant neighborhood, but street parking only, which can be difficult. Seemed oriented to students, maybe? Best I can say is that the bed was comfortable and the shower has plenty of hot water.

I'm sorry that the guest did not read any of the correspondence we sent and is in each guest room regarding all aspects of the guesthouse. I'm confused about their inability to find the breakfast room. I guess that kind of sums it all up :)
This was the perfect place to stay while exploring Portland. The Guesthouse is awesome its like staying with fun extended family. Eveyone is welcoming and there is so much charcter. Will definitely stay here again.
The overall stay was very nice, and much more affordable than a hotel. My only complaint is that there’s no reserved parking for the house, and we arrived at a day and time where the street parking was very limited.
The property was very cute and conveniently located, we walked to both of the area's large hiking trail networks and all through the arboretum, and then could walk right back out the entrance a few blocks away.
I got to check in early, since no one had the room last night. Tim is wonderful and helpful, and the house is quaint and adorable, and has a really nice neighborhood I’ve never been to before. Will definitely recommend this place!
Amazing guest house, comfy and clean, right in the middle of the NW district. We parked the car and walked everywhere. Can't wait to come back and stay longer.
I was able to buy food at near-by Trader Joe's for the evening. There were breakfast options at the Guesthouse, but I bought some extra food. It was so nice that there were dishes and silverware to use. Comfortable sitting in the kitchenette. The bedroom was spacious and bed very comfortable. There was a good quality space heater to use if needed. Very quiet location though it is in a popular part of Portland. Notes of other interesting and good quality restaurants, stores, and site-seeing options close-by. It's a much nicer vibe than staying in a hotel.
I took a little trip to Portland and wanted to be close to 23rd Street while keeping my costs down. The Portland International House was perfect! It is in a terrific neighborhood that I enjoyed exploring and it allowed me be right next to 23rd Street and a short distance from the Pearl District. The place was quiet, clean, and on point.
Homey, big, old house with wonderful beds, quiet rooms, and a super responsive staff. Very near great local stores, tea and coffee shops, and restaurants, and within walking distance of the Japanese gardens.
This is a unique location. It was very quiet and comfortable. Easy to get to with train/ bus from the airport. Was pleasantly surprised to have so.many options close by for supper. Also, appreciate the coffee and breakfast area. Great place!
