Master bedroom has a queen and the guest room has two twins. The living room sofa has a pull out queen sleeper. Have you vacationed on the island before? Palm Island a.k.a. Don Pedro Island, is a barrier island 7 miles long between Sarasota and Ft. Myers on the Gulf coast with sugar-sand beaches, beautiful harbors and lagoons, great fishing and shelling only accessible by a short 10 minute car ferry or private boat. Our beaches are some of the most pristine and quiet in all of coastal Florida. There are no high rises blocking your Gulf views, unpaved sandy roads, and a relaxed "Old Florida" atmosphere. There is one restaurant called the Rum Bay that serves lunch and dinner. The car ferry runs continually from 6:30 am until 10:00 pm from Sunday through Thursday and until 11:00 pm Friday and 12:00 midnight Saturday. You drive your car onto the ferry and then directly to your vacation rental home. It's a very special place to vacation. We have kayak rentals and golf cart rentals for your use during your vacation. All of our properties on Palm Island require a ferry ride to get there. One round trip on the ferry for car and passengers costs $55. The alternative is to purchase a book of 10 round trips for $400, or $40 per round trip. For more information on the ferry, google Palm Island Transit. Pet Policy: This home is Pet Friendly home. This means that ONE dog is permitted to stay at the rental. No cats are permitted in any of our properties. Certain aggressive breeds as designated by the State of Florida and outlined in our rental contract are not permitted. No exceptions will be made to this policy.

We stayed here for 3 months. It was a great winter escape. The unit was clean and set up well for renters. We had some minor problems one would have while staying at a place for a few months. The management company (Palm Island Stays) was very prompt and efficient in solving the problems. We highly recommend this beach condo.
Note: You need to take a ferry to get to the island. It's a short 3 minute ride for you and your vehicle. It's pretty expensive so you want to limit your trips off the island. Also, visitors have to pay to use the ferry too. The good news - no big crowds on the beach!
We had a fabulous time at the Colony at Don Pedro unit 424. The place needs a few updates- but that didn’t impede our fun. The beach is pristine, private and so relaxing. The ferry is a hoot and always accessible. We loved the area and will be back. If you book here, bring plenty of sunscreen, beverages and food.

Liked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Cleanliness, communication
Nice rental but communication could be better.
Overall a great location and the island is great. The property could use a better job on cleaning not bad but dirt in corners hair in different places that kind of thing. Also things are getting outdated from what pictures show. The communication was quite poor very minimal not welcoming at all. Also we emailed two times with questions once about two weeks before rental and once right when we got there and never got a response.
Great location, property was very worn and needed a deep clean. They need to go through the property and throw away all of the junk that is laying around.
The location of this property was wonderful! Walk out the door and you are right on the beach/Gulf of Mexico.....walk across the road and you are at the dock for some fishing....take a few steps and you are at the beautiful pool! The condo unit, however, was disappointing. While the size and furnishings were fine for a beach condo, there were no less than 20 issues that were problematic, some dangerous. Some of the back steps were loose; the rear screen door closure mechanism was not functional and the door slammed as you exited almost pushing you down the stairs. When we left, the master shower was non-functional with the shower valve torn out and shards of tile on the shower floor (which I cleaned up) and had been so for 8 days. We were told that a valve was on order....we waited and waited. No routine maintenance has occurred for a VERY long time. The property manager was very responsive but was unable to fix all the issues, which is a long term project....and I did not notify him about many issues until our departure. Rather than list all issues (which I sent to the property manager), I will use the space to advise the owner that we felt disrespected by the lack of normal maintenance. It appears that this property owner is only interested in the cash flow without reinvesting in the property. One other important thing that anyone who rents this property should realize. You can only reach this island by ferry, which was the best thing about this location and the worst thing about this location. We had a medical emergency while there and getting to the hospital was a difficult experience. I gave this VRBO property a 4 star rating because of the location, not because the condo was satisfactory.
Great surf fishing, and snook on the inter coastal. Bikes were so good to have- food at Rum Bay was great. Really nice pool l- nothing better than sunsets on the porch and the sound of the waves from the gulf.
We had a great time and the property was as described. The sliders open all the way up to the balcony and provide great views of the sunset every night. The property could use some paint and updating but we would stay again. 4 stars on cleanliness was because there were clothes left in dresser from the people that stayed before us.
This is one of our favorite Florida beaches and we have stayed in a few of these units. They are really great for a beach vacation...spacious, great views, amazing beach. This unit has everything you really need including a well-equipped kitchen. The bed is super comfortable too. The place is a little outdated like a lot of beach homes but it didn’t hinder us. But if you are looking for top of the line amenities this might disappoint you but you’d also pay more. The property managers Jim and Barbara were great and handled our needs. We look forward to a future stay.
