Located right at the tip of Michigan’s Thumb, Port Austin is one of the rare places where you can catch both sunrise and sunset over the stunning waters of Lake Huron. Known for its natural beauty, this area offers incredible hiking opportunities—including the iconic Turnip Rock—and endless outdoor adventure.

Our cozy, centrally located cottage sits on the peaceful south side of M-25, just minutes from downtown Port Austin and Caseville. Whether you’re looking for a summer escape, a fall color tour, or a snowy winter retreat, this rental is available year-round. Summer is a favorite with its long beach days and warm nights, but autumn brings breathtaking foliage, and winter offers a serene, snow-covered quiet that’s perfect for recharging.

We are on a septic system; this means ONLY toilet paper can be flushed. All sanitary products, wipes and diapers are to be thrown in the trash.
Trash pickup is every Monday. There is an enclosed garbage bin at the end of the driveway next to the mailbox. Please place all trash in the bin.
No access is provided to the garage. Back bedroom (blue room) closet is our personal. The front (yellow) bedroom closet is for guest use.

The cottage was clean,cute and comfortable. We didnt have a campfire,it was too hot but there are cool lights wrapped around trees out back. Very nice. It was an easy distance to attend a wedding at the lovely Glen Royal Barn.

THE Place to Stay at the Tip of the Thumb!

Such a comfortable cozy cottage! Everything we needed and then some! Wonderful woodstove added to the ambiance (not the main source of heat)! Within walking distance of the great trails and beach at Port Crescent State Park. No guarantee, of course, but we saw, perhaps,the Best Sunset of our lives, from the breakwater at Port Austin. The incredible The Farm restaurant is only 3 miles away. Happened to be a birthday weekend for one of us--couldn't have been happier!!!

The house and room sizes were perfect for the family for our stay. One thing that was inconvenient was the bathroom toilet. It’s a low toilet and there is nothing near it to use to get up for older adults like a vanity counter or bar.

Perfect Girls’ Getaway

We have been friends for 40 years & wanted a fun, relaxing weekend where we could catch up since we live several states away from each other. The cabin was a halfway point for us and exactly what we were looking for! Clean, great location, perfect size for the 2 of us. Thanks so much for telling us about the Northern Lights! We were able to view them and took some amazing pics! This was the first time either of us had stayed in MI too, so I got to check off another state I have now visited. Highly recommend!

Adorable cottage conveniently located!

I rent a place in port Austin every year for the weekend that Halloween camping takes place at nearby Port Crescent State park. My extended family camps, I enjoy the day and fires with them and then go sleep in a warm, comfortable bed 😊. The cottage was clean, plenty of small amenities provided (I don’t want to bring my own bedding towels etc and all those are provided!) My 5 month old grandson came with is for the first time and there was plenty of room for his portacrib and allll the baby stuff. A very short drive to the camping area. Great place, highly recommend!

Family Togetherness

We were looking for a place to get away from home to spend some much needed downtime. I selected this place due to the nice comments shared by other guests. I was not disappointed! This place was perfectly located to the lake, putt-putt was within walking distance, with homemade ice cream, and a dark skies observation location was literally across the road. Our Vrbo hosts thought of all the details and we felt like we were at home. One of our favorite moments was teaching our college age daughter how to play Euchre like a true Michigander.
