About this property
Forest retreat near Olympic National Park with fire pit
Norma is a quiet forest cabin set on ten acres of alder woodland near Lake Crescent and the edge of Olympic National Park — a place for soft mornings, long afternoons, and the kind of stillness that settles in slowly. Light falls through the skylight, the living room opens toward the trees, and deer often move through the property in the morning. Spend a day doing very little, or come home here after trails, water, beaches, and mountain air.
Inside, the cabin is simple, warm, and considered. There is one open living, dining, and kitchen area, one queen bedroom, one bathroom with heated floors, and a loft with two single beds. The bathroom has a walk-in shower with a window into the forest, and the loft is reached by a library ladder. Norma sleeps up to four.
The living area has a bioethanol fireplace, a projector with Netflix, a curated CD wall, books, art supplies, and a Bluetooth speaker. The kitchen is stocked for comfortable cooking, with a two-burner stove, full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, pour-over coffee setup, and a small supply of coffee, rice, pasta, and granola to get you started.
Outside, a wide deck, lawn, fire pit, and parking area are yours for the stay. The deck is made for coffee in the morning, slow afternoons, and watching the light change through the alders. The fire pit sits at the edge of the trees and is available when local burn conditions allow. The surrounding forest is part of a quiet natural landscape — you’re welcome to take it in, watch for wildlife, and listen. Please stay within established guest areas so the land and native growth can be looked after. The lawn is still finding its feet, so please treat it gently.
Norma changes with the season. Winter gives the fireplace its purpose. Summer pulls you onto the deck. Fall brings color into the alders and cooler air on the trails. Rain, mud, wind, insects, and uneven ground are all part of the forest experience depending on the time of year, so bring layers and shoes you don’t mind getting wet. Message us and we’ll point you toward what’s worth doing while you’re here.
The loft is best suited for adults or guests who are comfortable using a ladder. Children may not use the ladder without adult supervision. Guests must use the handrails and lock the ladder wheels before climbing. The loft has a guardrail except at the ladder entry and is not recommended for young children or pets. The two loft beds are slightly firmer for guests who prefer more structure for back support.
Up to two dogs are welcome. Please keep them leashed outdoors and out of the loft, as the ladder makes it unsafe for them. Deer, elk, and other wildlife pass through regularly — please do not feed or approach them.
Starlink internet is available, with typical speeds above 120 Mbps, though rural forest conditions may occasionally affect service. Heating and cooling are provided by a ductless split system, supplemented by the fireplace. Smoking is outdoors only.
Norma is near Joyce, Washington, about 17 miles from Port Angeles. Lake Crescent is 15 minutes away, Crescent Beach is 8 minutes away, Port Angeles is 25 minutes away, and Hurricane Ridge is under an hour. The Olympic Discovery Trail and many of the Olympic Peninsula’s hikes, beaches, and viewpoints are within easy driving distance. Nearest airports are Victoria, about 57 miles plus ferry, and Seattle-Tacoma, about 184 miles.
Check-in is 3:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM. This property requires a signed rental agreement, which will be collected separately by the property prior to arrival or at check-in.
Norma is a quiet place with enough space to feel it. Please treat the cabin and the land with care — we’d like to keep it that way.
