Staff couldn't be more helpful, even an upgrade to ensure we had a double bed as opposed to 2 singles pushed together. The Hotel is tired windows dont close, therefore the traffic noise was too loud to sleep and constantly being woken up by car horns beeping from 4 in the morning

This hotel is old. Rooms, bedding towels are old and look dirty. Bathrooms are old and look dirty. The hotel has big lobby, good parking. They have different plans like European plan which doesn't include breakfast and Expedia doesn't mention it. Staff is not quick in resolving issues.

Complementary spa service offered for one. My wife liked the facial. I had a good swim after my drive. The breakfast was really good.

Horrible Stay

My daughter checked in on May 5th and within just a few minutes she was very uncomfortable because the room was smelling, furniture was rusty and old. However given er long journey she decided to just rest for sometime and when she woke up, the air conditioning was not working, there was water everywhere in the room . She then got her room changed and this time the pillow covers were smelling, they were damn, the head board is dirty and the bathroom has rust. since it was too late to change the hotel she stayed back however it was impossible to stay any further. The pool area is dirty, has moss and fungi alongwith a dirty and terrible stench (like the ones from the sewer), and the Spa is also stinking. Having the opportunity of a free spa, she cannot avail of it because no sensible human being will choose to be in a dirty, stinking and almost hazardous to health environment.

We had booked 4 rooms out of which the key for one did not work the whole time and we had to go to the reception and ask someone to accompany us every single time. Another room did not get locked and one of the staff members tried to convince us that it is safe to leave our things inside by pointing to the smoke detectors and sprinklers saying they were cameras. The furniture was moldy and the rooms were dirty. The towels in the bathroom had someone else's hair on it. The lady who checked us in was not courteous or friendly. Very poor experience. Avoid this place.

Pleasant Stay

Stayed with family for 2 days. it was a pleasant stay. A few problems with slow room service and house keeping. The key card didn't work. The restaurant was very good.

Beautiful hotel in a great location, but...

This is a beautiful hotel in downtown Pondicherry, close to everything. It was built as a luxury hotel but has not been maintained properly. Our room was large and nicely furnished but so dirty. Lights witches were stained by finger prints, baseboards full of dust, paint was dirty and stained . The bathroom was the worst we have seen in India.

10 days in Ananda Inn

The rooms were noisy- facing the road- the bathroom smelt of urine and the shower curtain was moldy- room one- asked to be moved- now next to the service lift and all night heard the lift and staff and furniture scraping- asked to be moved again- now facing quieter road. No fresh air- furniture and beds scraped across floors above us during the night, Indian guests yelling loudly in corridors and bathroom still smelling of urine. Bed sheets clean but with holes in them. Breakfast in dining room with oil stained tableware and knives and forks not replaced between customers. Kitchen staff would come out with FILTHY uniforms - stained and dirty. The front foyer has old dirty heavy furniture- all the soft furnishings need steam cleaning- chairs in rooms smelt of urine.This hotel bearable only for 1 or 2 nights- not for a long stay- not worth the money.

The pits of the world

From the moment we walked into the hotel we were uncomfortable. Shown to our room which was dirty and the bathroom disgusting and the safe not working. Called house keeping to be told no other room available and oh yes the safe doesn't work!!!! Asked for a change in room that we would pay for an upgrade to be given a very curt NOTHING AVAILABLE. Asked repeatedly and eventually we were given another room still same dirty conditions but the safe worked! On going to bed found that the bedlinen had not been changed - bodily fluids. Slept in one bed. Next morning told them we wanted an upgrade room to be told yet again nothing available. Went for breakfast in the filthiest room we have ever seen table cloths staff uniforms disgust. Staff had no training whatsoever. Had to ask for hot toast and tea which took forever. We found another hotel to stay in The Promenade which was far superior. On checking out of the Anandha suddenly an upgraded room became available. Too late !!!!! Maybe we were unlucky but I think not as the whole place should be totally refurbished and better staff employed. Think Expedia should make regular and unannounced visits to this property

nice hotel, 15 minutes wal from the promenade

very spacious but slightly dated room had good A/C and good plumbing with excellent showers. Pool area clean and attractive and good food. The weekend buffet was a highlight.... a vegetarian's paradise. The breakfast buffet, included in the room rate, was closer to a S Indian lunch buffet in other establishments. Restaurants open until 11.30 pm. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and reasonable value.
