Hotel San Giovanni sits right on the sea, a short tuc tuc ride from Polignano a Mare (the ride itself is half the fun). The staff couldn't do enough for us, from check in to check out they were fabulous, and breakfast was fresh, generous, lovely. A brilliant base for exploring the coast.

Beautiful hidden gem on the coast in Polignano a Mare. We received a warm welcome from Barbara and her team. Breakfast was outdoors and exceptional. We enjoyed a day of touring, lunch overlooking the water, lovely dinners out, and an afternoon at the beach. We hope to return!

We stayed at Hotel San Giovanni from September 11th until September 14th. The location is beautiful — it’s a private villa converted into a hotel, set right on the beach in a very secluded area. To reach Polignano a Mare, you need to take a tuk‑tuk, which costs about 15 euros each way, but staying in this quiet spot is absolutely worth it. The beach area in front of the hotel is small and a bit rocky, yet still perfectly manageable for swimming. There is a local fortress nearby and four restaurants in the area, though be aware that they close from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Polignano a Mare itself is a stunning town that deserves at least a few days to explore. The room at the hotel is a good size, with a comfortable bed that’s close to a North American queen. The shower and toilet room are also spacious. Breakfast, prepared by Barbara and (I believe) her mother, is fantastic — you would need far more space on the Expedia page to describe it properly. There is also a private sandy beach nearby, though access costs around 40–80 euros. Overall, our stay here was one of the best experiences we had while travelling in Italy. As one of the days we stayed was my wife’s birthday, Barbara helped make it truly special by arranging flowers and providing a candle for the cake. Thank you, Barbara, for accommodating us!

Amazing Hotel. Barbara received us with open arms and kept us feeling at home. Breakfast was so good and fast. Parking is in-house. But you do need a Car to stay here and you are literally 5 minutes from the historical center of Polignano a mare.

The owners are wonderful Barbara is a doll The facilities are immaculate and there is something for everyone. We were visiting family so we didn’t need all of what they provided but it offered the most I have seen in a hotel. Beach was right there (wasn’t for me) but they had one. Small pool, bikes, games, lounging area with beach chairs and umbrellas, vending machine safe and super convenient on site parking. Complimentary breakfast spread with a smile. Thank you barbara

La struttura è veramente ben tenuta e ha tutti i servizi che servono. Un bel bagno con doccia , frigobar x il bere al fresco , materassi degni del nome e camera con una bellissima vista mare e un terrazzo x riposarsi alla sera col rumore delle onde. Colazione fantastica sia dolce che salata (pasticcini , torte, pane fresco , succo fresco ,pomodorini e salumi ecc ). Polignano a 4 min in auto.

La struttura è direttamente sul mare, forse un po’ datata ma situata in una location stupenda, tranquilla per una vacanza all’insegna del relax a 5 minuti di auto da Polignano a Mare. I proprietari sono una giovane coppia molto gentile e competente, la moglie ci ha fornito molte informazioni sui posti da visitare nelle vicinanze. Una menzione alla colazione, davvero abbondante con portate dolci e salate, una vera prelibatezza! Consigliato vivamente, è un luogo dove tornerei.

Excellent séjour. Très bon accueil de Barbara. La chambre était spacieuse (deluxe 4 personnes). Acces direct de la chambre à une magnifique terrasse aménagée avec confort avec vue sur la mer. Parfait pour un repas du soir avec le bruit des vagues comme fond sonore. Petit déjeuner excellent (plateau de charcuterie, fromage, fruit frais, viennoiserie, gâteaux...). Accès direct à une plage avec rochers (prévoir chaussure). Je recommande !
