Our host, Emilio, was incredibly helpful. We arrived late into the Bari airport and he actually met us at the Polignano Nord exit to ensure that we wouldn’t get lost. He and his staff were very warm and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

For a fabulous experience.

A wonderful stay in this beautiful spot. It is very quaint and unique. Mariella and her son Flavio were friendly, attentive, and took great care of us. Flavio speaks perfect English and it was very nice talking to him. The breakfast was served to us on the terrace. It was spectacular with all very fresh and local ingredients. Mariella made a special breakfast of all gluten-free items which was so appreciated. This one of a kind hotel is only a few minutes outside of the beautiful town of Polignano del Mare. The very large yard has plenty of parking. When we return to Puglia we will definitely stay here again Thank you for the delightful stay.

Mariella was a superb host that went above and beyond our expectations. She made amazing breakfasts and adapted skillfully for our dairy allergy so we didn’t even notice that a huge component of the normal breakfast menu was off limits. The breakfasts were a beautiful taste of the foods of the area and Puglia, and varied daily. She even had vegan croissants available for us every morning!! The food was so fresh, local, and tasty and lovingly prepared for us. It was actually some of the best food we had during our whole stay in Italy, and the fact it was included in our stay was an amazing value! The room and facilities were extremely clean and the bed comfortable. She gave recommendations on the best dining and destinations in the area. We HIGHLY recommend this property as long as you have a car, because it is outside town. It is a quick 5-10 minute drive to Polignano and within 30-60 minutes of numerous destinations, we couldn’t have picked a better base for exploring Puglia. It was nice that it’s outside the hustle and bustle of the town, it was quiet and peaceful, surrounded by countryside and ancient olive trees. We really can’t wait to go back to stay at the Casale Porta Contessa! It was one of the best experiences of our whole trip!

Good place outside Polignano a Mare

When we planned our 1st time trip to Puglia, we wanted a place that could serve as basecamp for driving to other cities & towns in the region, so we chose Polignano a Mare to be that place. This is rustic-style property, not centric, but located about 2 miles from the hearth of Polignano a Mare. When we checked-in we realized that the standard unit we have booked would be very tight for 4 adults, so we asked about the possibility of upgrading & paying for the difference to a larger unit, which the hosts nicely managed to accommodate, based on availability for the following day. The apartment was clean, functional & quiet, with 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 1 small kitchen area, and a bunk bed for 2 people. The location is not ideal as it is outside the center of the city, which has a lot to offer in terms of cafes, dining, shops & sightseeing. The mini-split A/C unit is installed on one wall of the bedroom, but the airflow doesn't reach the kitchen area where the bunk bed is, so there is one part of the apartment that doesn't cool down at all. There were also issues with Wi-Fi & Internet access, which we reported, but overall, we couldn't get a good connectivity. Now, the hosts, Emilio & Mariella are wonderful, warm & attentive people, very accommodating to our needs. The daily local cuisine-style breakfast is very good & certainly a plus when staying here (the best fresh mozzarella ever!). This is a place for a short stay.

Nice central location for exploring the area, we wished we had made this our base for the days we were travelling. Very quiet location at the end of a small road, the accommodation was clean and comfortable. The highlight was breakfast. Order and time given the night before, breakfast was delivered to the our door patio and consisted of delicious home made local dishes, coffee and juice. We spent time chatting with the owners who shared information on food and places to visit. We felt very welcomed and wished had stayed longer. Make sure to visit Monopoli which is very close and felt a little less busy than other towns

An oasis of calm

We were in an oasis of calm amongst olive trees. The welcome was amazing and the food good and well presented. The owner helped us order pizza for dinner as we didn't really want to leave the property.

Practical stay

Clean place and lovely friendly host . Located outside of town and a bit odd location. Host super friendly. Good for a quick stay maybe not that scenic for a longer stay as a bit run down outside . So for a practical solution it’s ok . For a holiday stay etc I’d stay in the town itself which is lovely and fantastic restaurants etc

Wonderful hospitality and privacy

Great stay with wonderful hospitality! This place is in a great location for those wishing for privacy and peace. We had private parking on the property. Polignano a Mare is just 5min driving distance. Lots of thoughtful touches, with additional shampoo, body wash, and soap left for us if needed - they thought of everything! Our host Emilio and his wife were the sweetest people we met in Italy. Included in our stay was the most delicious local breakfast with cappuccino. Emilio recommended us restaurants and places to visit and as a plus even called to book us dinner reservation to one of the fanciest and busiest restaurants in town 🙂 Thank you, we would recommend!

First of all, our hosts were LOVELY. In particular, Mr. Emilio went far and beyond, we arrived in the middle of a rain storm and he came out and assisted us with our luggage even though he got drenched in the process. Breakfast was excellent. However, the WiFi did not work during our entire stay. We saw other guests walking to the car park area to read their email with the WiFi. The furniture in our room, although modern, was very simple. We had a simple metal folding chair, then 3 out of 5 light bulbs in our bedroom were blown out. The toiletries were minimal, not seen in 4- or less so in 5-star accommodations: tiny soaps, slim as coins, the body towels were off-white (yellowish)…. Not what you would expect in a 3 star accommodation. The hand towels, however, were fine (white, very clean). Overall, a good place for rest and with lovely hosts, but from our experience, it is a bit overpriced/overrated.

Endroit très difficile à trouver. Pas de panneau à l'entrée du chemin étroit et plein de trous. On arrive sur un porche, impression d'une propriété privée, là encore pas d'indications. La propriétaire voulait un message pour l'heure d'arrivée, sans préciser qu'il fallait passer par WhatsApp ! Nous avons galéré pendant 35 minutes. Et pour elle c'était drôle et de notre faute. Les chambres sont correctes. Très bon petit déjeuner

Très médiocre

Fuyez cet endroit. Les étoiles sont uniquement pour les murs blancs et le petit dej qui n'est pas du fait maison.cet endroit ne correspond pas du tout au photos.cest un chantier naval. Tout tombe en ruine je ne comprends pas comment on peut mettre en location des chambres dans un endroit pareil. Le sous sol est en ruine. Les chaises sont rouillées ainsi que les tables. Pour le petit dej je doute qu'il soit préparé dans un endroit propre. Pour vous le déposer sur votre table la propriétaire et les 2 jeunes passent par le sous sol qui est complètement en ruine pour l avoir de mes propres yeux. Un chemin caillouteux pour accéder au sois disant logement qui n'est même pas fermé par un portail. Très très cher pour cet endroit délabré..non passez votre chemin.
