Mother Allie's House — The Childhood Home of Rosalynn Carter | Plains, Georgia
Step Into History. Sleep in Comfort.
Welcome to Mother Allie's House — a living piece of American history nestled in the heart of Plains, Georgia. Built in 1910, this lovingly preserved home was where Frances Allethea "Allie" Murray raised her family, including her daughter Rosalynn, who would go on to become First Lady of the United States. Now thoughtfully renovated, the home has been carefully restored to reflect how it looked during Mother Allie's era — from its warm, welcoming front porch to the charm of its original character — while offering every modern comfort you need for a truly memorable stay.
Whether you're making a pilgrimage to the Carter family legacy or simply looking for a one-of-a-kind retreat in southwest Georgia, there is no place quite like this.

A Note From Your Host
Mother Allie's House is more than a vacation rental. It is a place where history breathes, where you can sit in the same kind of stillness that shaped a First Lady, and where the warmth of a small Georgia town wraps around you from the moment you arrive. We hope you'll leave with full hearts — and maybe a little peanut butter ice cream on your shirt.
