"breakfast OK, nothing great. Quiet. Accidentally went to wrong door and my card key opened up an occupied room! Disliked the heavy smell of marijuana from neighboring room when I turned on the bathroom fan. Took shower with light out because of that. Someone had placed a plastic bag over the smoke detector... Unable to find light switch at all when entering dark room. Had to find one in the bathroom area. Walkable from Metro Yellow line, but not straightforward navigating a dark very hilly park at night. Seemed safe, but who knows. Decent place to stay to visit DC area. Plenty of good parking. Clean enough. Toilet runned."

"We had a fabulous stay. Clean, comfortable lodgings very close to Mount Vernon. Excellent host who aimed to please and definitely did! Would recommend and would stay there again!"

"I was apprehensive when I first started my stay at The Virginia Lodge. The marquis sign is missing light bulbs that reminds one of "missing teeth." Weeds grow from cracks in the parking lot and the base of buildings. My room needed a paint job as do the buildings outside. But as my stay progressed, I was impressed with the amenities provided. There is a microwave, refrigerator, cable TV and WIFI (though I did not use its WIFI). It's a pretty good value for the $62-69 per night stay that Expedia charged. Were it not for lack of property upkeep, The Virginia Lodge would be on par with the Holiday Inn."

"The staff were incredibly kind, personable, and helpful—the only reason I didn’t immediately request a full refund given the hotel’s condition. The elevator smelled strongly of urine and had sticky spots, and cigarette butts littered the floors. The room was extremely dirty: every layer of bedding, including the mattress, had stains, rips, and tears. I checked for bed bugs due to the condition and, while I didn’t find live ones, there appeared to be remnants from past issues. I found food wrappers and a corn kernel in the bed frame, filthy floors, and thick dust on curtain rods and wall décor, indicating a lack of regular cleaning. Doors had old stains, the shower curtain had visible mold (including fuzzy growth), and the microwave was disgusting. Trash from a prior guest remained, and the towels were unusable due to stains resembling blood and earwax. I also found a carpet beetle shell in a drawer. Housekeeping was requested, but while bedding was replaced, many issues remained, including the debris and stains. I also found new items in the room, suggesting someone entered while I was out, which was alarming. I became ill with food poisoning and had to extend my stay; the front desk staff were kind and accommodating. Overall, the hotel is uninhabitable for the price. Front desk staff were excellent, but management clearly neglects cleanliness, maintenance, and health standards."

"Breakfast was basic/oatmeal was cold/bathroom vent not working. A/C cold/Paint peeling off top of bathroom wall. Room was clean but small 1st room I don’t recommend at all no rest at night due to school group of kids above us sound like they were going come through floor. Staff was friendly but wouldn’t let us change rooms. Safe to say not returning."
