I recently stayed at a rental property with my family for the Memorial Day weekend, and unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. My wife had mistakenly identified it was a cabin, it turned it wasn't. The house was located in a valley, offering no mountain views whatsoever, which was disappointing.
One of the main issues we encountered was with the downstairs area, which was listed as a bedroom with two single beds. However, we found it concerning that the only exit available in case of an emergency was through the stairs leading upstairs. This lack of a secondary exit raised some safety concerns for us.
Furthermore, the downstairs area had an overpowering smell that made it unpleasant to spend time there. The odor was so bad that my adult daughter opted to sleep on the couch instead. Also. of note there was a collection of spider webs and daddy long legs above the door leading downstairs.
In terms of the overall condition of the property, we also encountered some safety hazards. The back steps were weathered and had nails sticking up, posing a potential risk for anyone using them. While this issue did not cause any accidents, it was certainly a concern and reflected a lack of maintenance.
Despite these drawbacks, our Memorial Day weekend was not ruined. However, considering the lack of views, unpleasant smells, cleanliness issues, and safety hazards, I would not choose to book this property again in the future.
