  • The Mountain House - This lovely, rustic cabin features 4 bedrooms and modern comforts. Nestled in Rothrock State Forest, you're less than 1 mile from Whipple Dam State Park and 12 miles from State College. Perfect for those who enjoy outdoor activities (hunting, fishing, hiking, swimming, boating, biking, skiing, or snowmobiling); and for families and friends who want to spend time enjoying the activities and amenities in State College and the Penn State campus.

    The 4 cozy bedrooms include two rooms each with a full bed, one room with 2 twin beds, and one room with a queen bed. The full bathroom and primary bedroom are located on the main floor.

    Enjoy a meal, play games, or relax with a drink while listening to the birds on the large, screened-in porch on the side of the cabin. You can even bring your air mattress (or bring out one of our extra mattresses) and sleep out there - enjoy camping in the woods with indoor plumbing and without the bugs! Another screened-in porch along the front of the house provides additional relaxing, entertaining, and storage space. The main living space includes a fully-equipped, well-stocked kitchen with seating for 4, a large dining area (seats 8), and plenty of seating in the great room. The lofted upstairs features 3 private bedrooms. Pets and events are conditionally allowed. The parking areas outside allow for plenty of cars, including a camper, RV, or boat. All linens and towels are provided.

    We are pet-friendly! Bring your dog (2-dog maximum) for an additional $50 per stay. Please let us know upon booking if your pet will be coming with you.

    Are you planning to go to the football game or thinking about spending the day at the nearby beach? We have you covered. We offer a $100 tailgate/picnic package with tent, table, propane grill, utensils, chairs, and much more - you just provide the food! Let us know upon booking.
